Wherein, champo heats up

We're getting close to the end of group stages for some, and even beyond that for others. This is what they refer to as "the business end" of the championship.  From here on in, the going gets tough...well I guess you know the rest.
We've a number of shout outs, and even a couple of good news items, so let's crack on.

As always, keep an eye on social channels (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook)
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Lotto

Lotto Draw 27/09/21. Jackpot was €3,550. Numbers drawn were:

24, 11, 22, 10

There was no jackpot winner. Weekly winner of €100 were Brian and Marion Cusack. Next week's jackpot will be €3,700.

Could you be a referee?

The County board have appealed to all clubs to increase the number of referees representing them. In particular there is a shortage of referees at CCC2 (U13-16) and adult levels. The Dublin Camogie board have also expressed similar concerns.
In light of this, the county board are bringing in regulations next season that each club will be required to supply 1 referee for every 2 teams they have entered in competition. St Vincents are looking for expressions of interest for members who would be interested in becoming a referee.
The county board runs regular courses for referees.  If you'd like to register your interest, please do so via our form at https://vins.ie/refinterest.

A Great Day's Golf Outing

Last Friday saw the second St Vincents Ryder Cup outing.  The weather was marvellous, and a great day out was had by all, followed by socially distanced, covid-certificate compatible drinks in the club bar after. The outing was a great way for club members to socialise, and raised ever-useful funds for the club. Many thanks to everyone who came out and to those who sponsored a hole too.
Special shout out to Philip Conway, Richie Conway, Glenn Jordan and Aoife Drumgoole who worked to ensure the day was a great success.  Head over to facebook for a look at all the photos.

All-Stars Donation Page Available

Many thanks to those who chipped in to help with funding the all-star initaitive. This is amazing - we'd love everyone in the club to contribute in some way, and paying towards equipment is a big help.
If your team (or individuals!) would like to donate, we've set up a page to allow you to do so. All proceeds will be used for equipment or gear for our All Stars.  You can donate here.

Congratulations, Anna - Winner of LiLo Bursary

Congratulations to Senior Camogie player, Anna Sullivan, who is the recipient of this year's Louise Lynch Memorial Bursary Award. The bursary was set up in memory of our dear friend Louise Lynch by her close friends as a way to honour her memory. Anna receives a cash award of €1,000 as she enters her first year of university.  Anna has represented St Vincents and Dublin throughout her juvenile career, and now plays senior; She's embarking on a career in Engineering in Trinity this year. We're proud to have you and well done!

Time to support one of our biggest supporters

Those of us who regularly attend games at the club will be used to seeing the familar face of Ciaran Hayes, son of Mary and JJ Hayes.  Ciaran is an avid Vins supporter and it's about time we thanked him for all his support over the years.

Well, now you can! Ciaran's family and friends are organising a sponsored walk from Charlemont on Saturday 9th of October to raise funds for a new bus for the service users at St Michael's House Grove Local Centre (Ciaran's Unit).

Full details, including a link to donate are available at their iDonate Page.  Great to see that donations are already coming in and we wish them all the best on getting to their goal of €35,000.
For those of you who aren't in a position to donate, fear not; there are other ways you can help.  Head over to the page, but here's a couple of suggestions:
1. Show up on the day and join the walk! This is a great way to show the family that you're behind them.
2. Share the donation page on your social channels spread the word near and far!

Champo Watch

Right. Let's get down to it. Lots and lots of champo stuff going on. I wouldn't like to be the man who has to organise the pitch allocations, that's for sure.
Adult Camogie

Senior Camogie: Another win in the Senior 1 championship mean the girls have 4 from 4, and are now in the "Go Ahead Senior 1 Camogie Championship Semi Final". Even better, we've drawn home advantage. This game is against Ballyboden St Endas.  So, you know the drill. Get yourself down to the club Sunday morning to lend a voice. Wear your blue and white. Wear your mask. Wash your hands. 10:30 am. Please and thank you. (Facebook event here - tell your friends you're coming!)

Our Intermediate Camogie unfortunately lost the intermediate semi final against Na Fianna on a scoreline of 2-9 to 1-7.  Hard luck girls. This is the end of their champo campaign.
Our Junior 1's had a win over Thomas Davis, and now await their re-fixed game on this Sunday, 3rd October against Erin's Isle.  That's at home at 12:30 (PNU2).
Our Junior 3's shield semi final has been re-fixed and this will now be played on 7th October at 8pm, also at home.

Adult Hurling
Senior Hurling take on Lucan this Sunday, 3rd October at 4pm in Parnell Park (Facebook Event). Remember these big games hosted by the county board are ticketed. Tickets are now on sale here.
Our Intermediate Hurling take on Kilmacud Crokes this Saturday 2 October, in Silver Park at 5pm.
Our Junior A meet Good Counsel/Liffey Gaels on this Saturday 2 October at home at 5pm. (PNU1)
Our Junior B look forward to meeting Skerries Harps on this Sunday 3 October, away at 3pm.

Ladies Football
Our minor ladies team faced a strong Foxrock/Cabinteely oppostion in the Shield Final, and were unfotunately beaten. We're super proud of how far they've come. Their campaign ends for this year, but we know they'll be back stronger next year.
The U16 ladies team lost their encounter with St Maurs last weekend, so this see them into the knock out stages of their Shield. They take on Ballinteer St Johns away on October 10.
The U15 ladies lost out in their game against Scoil Ui Chonaill. No sign of their next fixture, so it could be the end of their campaign. I'll fix this if I hear otherwise.
The U14 Ladies were also defeated when they took on St Finians, Swords. Commiserations to all. They now contest the Shield knock out stage on October 10 when they are away to Round Towers, Lusk.

Adult Football

The Senior Footballers lost in their group stage game versus Kilmacud Crokes. In a rollercoaster game, which saw them initially down by 9, to bring it back level this game had everything. Unfortunately, Crokes pulled away in the final quarter to win it by 5. The last group game sees us take on Castleknock on October 9 at 5pm.  This is on in the Naul. Gonna be interesting to see how they ticket that one, but we'll keep you posted.
Intermediate Footballers were gifted a walkover by Erin's Isle; their next game is on 9th October when they meet St Oliver Pluketts Eoghan Ruadh. (5pm, home)
Junior A Footballers played out a draw against Plunketts (0-12 to 1-9), They'll face Ballymun Kickhams on October 10 @ 11:00 am (Home).
Junior B Footballers beat Skerries Harps (3-8 to 1-11) ; they next encounter Thomas Davis, away on October 10 (3pm)

Minor Football
It was a hurling weekend for the minors, so no football games last weekend.
Minor A will face Brigids next at home (this Sunday October 3, 11:00am, Ard Scoil Rís)
Minor B's next encounter is with Templeogue Synge Street on this Sunday 3 October at 11:00 am in Dolphin Park.
Minor C look forward to their next game; at home on this Sunday 3 Oct v St Sylvesters.(11:00 am, MIE pitch)

Juvenile Championships
U16A beat Whitehall Colmcille (5-10 to 3-9) in their Football enocunter.  Next game is a hurling against Thomas Davis at 3:30 pm on this Saturday, October 2. That's away at Kiltipper road.
U16 Camogie Next game is this Sunday October 3 at home at 4:30pm, when they take on Na Fianna.
U15 Camogie face Naomh Brid at home on this Saturday 2 October at 1:30 pm.
U14 Camogie meet Castleknock next, away on this Sunday 3 October at 1:30pm.
U13 Camogie next game is at home on this Sunday 3rd October against Lucan at 1:30pm.
The Under 15 Boys had a hurling weekend; The 15A's had a good win against Lucan (3-10 (19) to 1-18 (21)), their next outing is a Football game; they are at home to Crokes this Sunday 3rd at 11:30 am on PNU2. The Under 15B team continue to be besieged by walk overs and Byes, so no game to report last weekend. They play Sylvesters in the football championship away on this Sunday, 3rd at 12:00.

Minor Hurling
As it was a Hurling weekend last weekend:
Minor A beat Ballyboden on a scoreline of 1-18 to 1-14, so now they look forward to a meeting with Raheny on 10th October.
Minor B had a great opener against Clanna Gael, winning by 5-13 to 0-13; they take on Naomh Catriona away on 10th October at 11:00 am.

Phew! So many games. Which ones will you support?

Mentors: If you want your results mentioned, just send them on, and I'll do my best to get a tweet out. Also, as always, fixtures are published on the club website.

Best wishes, Sinead and Pat 🤵🏻👰🏻💍🥂

Good news number 1: We send our best wishes to club mates Sinead Power and Pat Cronin who are tying the knot this Friday. We can only guess that they coincided the date with some easing of covid restrictions. I've heard from a number of people on this guest list, so this promises to be a great party.
Congratulations and best of luck to Sinead and Pat!!

Newsletter details

This newsletter is sent to over 1000 recipients and is a great way to inform members of club happenings. If you want anything included in the newsletter, drop a mail to pro@stvincentsgaa.ie. Comments and feedback are welcome too.

And finally..

Good news number 2: Our congratulations to senior hurler John Hetherton and his girlfriend, Laura on the birth of their baby son, Ciaran John. Of course, we cannot forget John's ma, Patsy who becomes a grandmother for the first time. There was great excitement in the house we're told. Everyone was delighted to becoming aunts, uncles and grandparents. Really happy for all in the Hedgeo household.

And before anyone checks - Yes, I've already asked if there would be any ambiguity around the choice of club for Ciarán junior, and I was promised by nana Patsy that he'll be a Vins player.
