Club Notes, 21 September 2021

Lots of life around the club

Sunday morning had me knocking around to watch an U15 Football Féile game. I was struck by the amount of action going on. We had Senior Camogie on PNU1, Minor on PNU2, and U15 on MIE, and this was just the first round of games; They continued all through the morning, with the Junior Hurlers playing the last game at 3pm.
Sure, before long, I'll be back to complaining about people parking in hatched lines, and reminding members of our obligations to our neighbouring communities.
It's all good - great to see the car park full, and the blue and white on show everywhere.

As always, keep an eye on social channels (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook)
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Lotto

Lotto Draw 20/09/21. Jackpot was €3,400. Numbers drawn were:

16, 11, 21, 8

There was no jackpot winner. Weekly winner of €100 was Myles Reilly.  Next week's jackpot will be €3,550.

Could you be a referee?

The County board have appealed to all clubs to increase the number of referees representing them. In particular there is a shortage of referees at CCC2 (U13-16) and Adult Levels. The Dublin Camogie board have also expressed similar concerns.
In light of this, the county board are bringing in regulations next season that each club will be required to supply 1 referee for every 2 teams they have entered in competition. St Vincents are looking for expressions of Interest for members who would be interested in becoming a referee.
The county board runs regular courses for referees.  If you'd like to register your interest, please do so via our form at https://vins.ie/refinterest.

GAA Strategic Plan, 2021-2026

The GAA are embarking on their strategic plan for the period 2021-2026.  To this end, they are carrying out a survey of what's important to members.
I recommend you have your say, by filling out the survey here.
If you don't fill this out, consider your rights to give out about black cards, The forward mark and Hawkeye rescinded!

Golf Outing: This Friday, Last Chance!

At time of writing there was just 2 4-balls available at the club golf outing.  Why not head out with a couple of friends?
This Friday, 24th September, Donabate Golf Club.  Tee times from 12:00 to 3:00pm.  Purchase your entry here
(Also, if you can't put a team together, and fancy a round of golf; sign up on your own, we'll find a place for you!)
After the round, we'll be heading back to the club bar. Now there's a phrase I haven't used in a long time!

All-Stars Donation Page Available

Many thanks to those who chipped in to help with funding the all-star initaitive. This is amazing - we'd love everyone in the club to contribute in some way, and paying towards equipment is a big help.
If your team (or individuals!) would like to donate, we've set up a page to allow you to do so. All proceeds will be used for equipment or gear for our All Stars.  You can donate here.

Champo Watch

Another big weekend of championship action last weekend, and plenty more coming. Here's this weeks' update:

Adult Camogie

Senior Camogie have had a great start, winning 2 from 2. Last weekend was their round 2 game against Na Fianna, where they won by 7 (2-14 to 1-10).  They will play their round 3 game this Sunday, 26th at home to Lucan Sarsfields (Facebook event).  This is a great chance to catch top-flight Dublin camogie on our doorstep. Get yourselves down!

Our Intermediate Camogie team contest the Intermediate championship semi-final. That's away to Na Fianna on this Sunday 26th, at 12:30. That's on Mobhi Road, so just down the road. Should be a cracker.
Our Junior 1's game v Erin's Isle was pushed (again! I'm hearing of Referree shortages) to Oct 3. Their next game is Sunday 26th, at home to Thomas Davis at 12:30
Our Junior 3 were due to contest the Shield Final, on the Sunday 26th, but the opposition have requested a reschedule. I'll keep my ear to the ground!

Adult Hurling
Senior Hurling had a big win over Setanta in their last game. Next game is fixed for 4pm on Sunday October 3, versus Lucan Sarsfields.  That'll be on in Parnell park. I'll link to the tickets page once it is avialable.
Our Intermediate Hurling lost by 6 points against Judes last weekend. Their next outing is on Saturday 2 October, when they take on Kilmacud Crokes, in Silver Park at 5pm.
Our Junior A had a bye, so nothing to report there, but take on Good Counsel/Liffey Gaels on Saturday 2 October at home at 5pm.
Our Junior B had a big win (6-16 to 0-14) over Na Fianna last weekend, and look forward to meeting Skerries Harps on Sunday 3 October, away at 3pm.

Ladies Football
Our minor ladies team won their Shield semi final against St Brigids (5:13 to 2:13) and will now meet Foxrock/Cabinteely in the Shield final. That hasn't been fixed yet; I'll let you know when I do.
The U16 ladies team weren't in champo action last weekend. They meet Maurs this Sunday, 26th at home at 4:30pm (PNU2)
The U15 ladies take on Scoil Ui Chonaill this Satuday, 25th at 1:30pm (PNU2)
The U14 Ladies play St Finian's Swords this Sunday, 26th at 1:30pm also on PNU2

Intermediate Footballers As last weekend was a hurling weekend, no game to report. Next round is on this Saturday 25th, when they take on Erin's Isle, away at 5:30pm.

It was a football weekend for the minors:

Minor B narrowly lost to Na Fianna (0-10 to 1-9); Their next encounter is with Templeogue Synge Street on 3 October at 11:00 am in Dolphin Park.
Minor C were defeated by Erin's Isle and look forward to their next game; at home on 3 Oct v St Sylvesters.

Juvenile Championships
U16A Hurlers lost their encounter to Faughs. Next game is against Thomas Davis at 3:30 pm on October 2. That's away at Kiltipper road.
U16 Camogie lost to Ballyboden. Next game is October 3 at home at 4:30pm, when they take on Na Fianna.
U15 Camogie won in their game against Whitehall and now face Naomh Brid at home on 2 October at 1:30 pm.
U14 Camogie lost by the narrowest of margins (2-5 to 2-4) against Whitehall. They'll meet Castleknock next, away on 3 October at 1:30pm.
U13 Camogie also narrowly lost (1-8 to 2-4) against Naomh Brid.  Their next game is at home on 3rd October against Lucan at 1:30pm.
The Under 15 Boys had a football weekend; The A's had a good win against St Judes; this was their Féile opener. The B team lost out to Naomh Olafs despite a spirited comeback in the second half. The A team have their next Hurling Feile game this Sunday when they travel to Lucan (11:30), while the Bs have to wait again; they're on a bye this weekend.

Minor Hurling
As it was a Football weekend, no minor Hurling scores to speak of, but that means they are in action this weekend:
Minor A play Sunday 26th, when they take on Ballyboden at home at 11:00 am. (Ard Scoil Rís)
Minor B Get their campaign started this Sunday 26th, at home Clanna Gael Fontentoy (11:00 am - MIE).

No shortage of games to get out an support this weekend! Let's get those voices out!

Mentors: If you want your results mentioned, just send them on, and I'll do my best to get a tweet out. Also, as always, fixtures are published on the club website.

Gaelic4Mothers&Others Blitz

Congratulations to the GAA4MO group who got out and represented St Vincents in the GAA4MO blitz in Starlights GAA at the weekend.  The weather was great and by all accounts it was a great outing consisting of the hosts, Erin's Isle, Olaf's, Fingal Ravens and ourselves, naturally. They asked me to thank Robbie Hughes who has been training the ladies. Rumour has it that the LGFA are considering a new title for GAA4MO back room staff. I'm told it is "Maor Fíon"

And finally..

The Senior Camogie team have enjoyed great support in recent years from the younger Camógs; I'm sure any games played last year without their loyal fanbase were quiet in comparison, and the support was well missed.
So, it was great to be sent on this photo of the U12 Camogie team who came out to support their Coach Áine Fanning for the Senior game against Na Fianna at the weekend.

While it's great to have the support back, methinks some of the girls have taken a stretch and I'm sure Áine is delighted that she's difficult to pick out now. Thanks to the U12 girls for rallying!
