A busy calendar ahead, and we're getting into serious territory now. |

Nearly 40 games on the fixtures calendar between Saturday and Sunday alone. The Football heads into the knock-out stages. This is where the pressure really ramps up. If you're not playing, then the best thing you can do is come out and show your support. If you are playing - we're right behind you. Best of luck. |

St Vincents Lotto brought to you by Staffords Funeral Home |
| | Lotto Jackpot, 18 September 2023. Jackpot was €7,900 and there was no jackpot winner. The winner of the weekly prize of €100 was Marie Elliot. Next week's jackpot will be €8,050. Over 8k. Jayney. That'd come in handy. |

Pitch Side Advertising - Send us a referral, earn money for your team |
| | Mentioned last week, but still worthing keeping in your mind: Would your company (or your parent's company!) like to advertise pitch-side at St Vincents? Then read on. Mentors and players: There's an opportunity here to earn a few quid for your team: If you send us details of a person who may be interested in purchasing pitch side advertising; we'll give you €50 after they agree to advertise. How does this work? - If you know someone who may take out a pitch-side advertisement, fill out their details at this link. Be sure to mention your team name in the form.
- We'll do the rest. We'll follow up with the contact and provide them with all the details; if they take out an advertisement, we'll pay €50 directly to your team.
Juvenile players; Maybe your parent's place of work may be interested? Let us know, but please ask the person for permission to share their contact details before filling in the form. Want to know more? We have a presentation which explains the offer here. We also have a 2 page "convince your boss" document that you can download at this link. Lastly: I'd encourage those working in larger organisations to take a look to see if this is an option. Large corporations often have corporate and social responsibility budgets, aimed squarely at support in the local community. They also sometimes offer bursaries to employees towards volunteering: You may be already entitled based on your involvement - so please have a rummage around your company intranets. Is Intranet even still a thing? Who knows - anyway wherever you can find information on ancillary benefits to staff. Please and thanks! |

Reminder: Executive positions will be available after the AGM |
| This a reminder that the AGM is scheduled for late November - more details and an official notice to come, but I mentioned last week that the AGM will see the end of the current executive's 2-year term. The executive committee will be stepping down, to make way for a new team. Under the terms of our constitution, the members vote in a committee as a whole and do not vote on individual positions. The procedure is that an individual who would like to run the executive should assemble a team and look for nomination for consideration the the AGM. For reference: our constitution states: "The Executive Committee shall be comprised of: 1 The Chairperson, 2 Vice-Chairperson, 3 Treasurer 4 Secretary, 5 Registrar, 6 Officer for Irish Language and Culture, 7 Public Relations Officer, 8 Children’s Officer, 9 Players’ Representative AND 10-19 Five, but not more than ten other Full Members, who shall include Games Directors for each of the four codes played in the Club – Gaelic Football, Hurling, Camogie and Ladies Gaelic Football" Some things an incoming chairperson may want to be aware of: Some current committee members may make themselves available to be part of a future committee. I would stress that many of the current committee have served for a number of years and have indicated that they wish to let others take on the role. Of course, nobody would be expected to come in and take over without help from the current committee, and help with handovers for any of the positions will be provided for anyone who volunteers. If you are interested in chairing or being part of the committee - we recommend the first step is talking to existing committee members. The existing committee members and their emails are available on the club website. Also, if you want to just chat about this, feel free to drop me an email. |
| | | This Friday, the bar will host a Karaoke evening. Why not come along and grace us with your tunes? No cover charge, craic promised. And next Friday, the club will host live music from Pat Adams. Be sure to swing by and have a listen, a chat or a cúpla schoops. |
| | The club also has a solid list of upcoming bookings for 21sts, christenings, etc. If you want to hold a party at the club, get in touch with Richie. |
| Mentors: PNU2 Invoices Coming Your Way |
| Mentors please be aware that the use of PNU2 is subject to modest fees to cover costs to run floodlights. Invoices for the spring past (Jan-March 2022) and this Winter will be issued in the coming weeks. Your prompt payment on these will be much appreciated. |

Champo Watch: Last Weekend |
| Last weekend was a hurling weekend for the adult men, and football for minor boys. Senior Hurling Senior hurling had the best outcome they could have hoped for: A convincing 3-26 to 1-13 defeat over Faughs, with the other game in the group doing us a favour: Na Fianna beat Ballyboden, meant we topped the table. This puts us straight through to the Senior 1 Semi-final; Which is due to take place on the weekend of the 14th of October. That's a bit of a break for the guys, but I'm sure there's a plan to put in some hard yards in the intervening period. Manager Pat Gilroy's post-match interview can be viewed here. And again, club photographer Gráinne McKinney was on hand to take photos. You can view her snaps at this location. |
| | Intermediate Hurling The intermediate hurlers had a bye last weekend, but like their Senior counterparts, they too have topped the table and are through to a semi-final; This will also be played on the weekend of the 14th of October. Junior Hurling Our Junior "A" hurlers gave a walkover to Ballyboden St Endas, which left us at the bottom of the table for the group stages. They now will play a relegation play-off against Naomh Fionbarra in the bogeys at 11:00 am on October 1st. Our Junior "B" hurlers suffered a one-point defeat at the hands of Erin's Isle (0-13 to 0-14). They finished mid-table in the group, which got them out of the group. They'll meet Peregrines in the next round on October 1 out in Blakestown (3:00 throw-in). The Junior E championship isn't going straight to quarter-finals; looks like there's a round of 12 to be played. God bless the fixture makers. I've no idea how this gets worked out. Minor Lads The minor lads had a football weekend: Minor A had a good win over Fingallians (4-11 to 2-6); They are currently leading their group with 1 more group-stage game to play. The Minor B team lost to Peregrines (3-10 to 3-5). They also have another game to play - they are currently sitting second in their group. The Minor C team had a bye last weekend. While currently sitting at the bottom of their table, they are in good company, with 3 other teams also on 0 points so far. Still all to play for here. Camogie The Senior and Intermediate camogie teams were not in competitive action last weekend; but the Junior 5 team played in their semi-final, where they were victorious over Thomas Davis (3-8 to 1-3). Once again, club photographer Gráinne McKinney attended and took some great photos. You can check them out here. |
| | This lines them up for the Junior 5 Camogie Final. The final will be played on Sunday, October 1 out in Abbottstown. There are 4 Junior Finals to be played out there that day, and 1 ticket will grant access to all games. I'll post the time when it is made available. Ahead of this if you want to get tickets, you can purchase them at this link. Ticket entry is €5.00, U16 and OAPs free. Minor Camogie A big congratulations to our Minor B Camogie team who had to wait patiently for their Championship opener. Their first game was postponed, and their second was a bye, so last weekend was their chance to get going. They recorded a good win (5-3 to 1-0) over Raheny giving them the best possible start to their campaign. |

| Two senior games are fixed for this weekend; both are on Sunday. The Senior Camogie team start the proceedings, when they travel away on Sunday morning to take on Ballyboden at 11:00 am |
| | Later on Sunday afternoon, at 4:00 pm, the Senior Footballers take on Raheny in the Senior 1 Quarter-Final in Parnell Park. |
| | Like other Senior 1 games. this is a ticketed event. Tickets are €15 available at this link. For those of you who cannot make it, the game will be streamed free, live on YouTube As always, jump over to our fixtures page to find out what else is on, and keep an eye on our social media for any last-minute venue or throw-in time changes. Here are the other adult/minor games going on: Minor A Ladies Football contest the Division 2 Championship Semi-Final; that's on Saturday 23rd at 3:00 pm in Marlay Park against Ballinteer St John. The Minor B Ladies footballers are also in Semi-final action: They are also on Saturday 23rd at 3:00 pm; They are away to St Margarets, contesting the Division 8 Championship Semi-Final. We wish the best of luck to both teams as they reach this crucial stage. The Intermediate Footballers travel to Mobhi Road on Saturday evening, when they take on Na Fianna at 5:45 pm in the Go Ahead Intermediate All-County Championship Quarter-Final. (rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?). It's a short run up the road folks. You know what you gotta do! Sunday has a few games too: Aside from the aforementioned senior games, we also have: Our Junior A footballers contest the Go Ahead Junior 2 All-County Football Championship Quarter-Final. This is on Sunday, 24th at 11:00 am out in Lusk where they will take on Round Towers. The Minor A hurlers team are at home at 11:00 am on Sunday, when they meet Na Fianna. This is a group stage game. Beside them, on PNU2, the Minor B hurlers also play in the group stages at 11:00 am on Sunday; They'll be taking on Kevins. A twofor if you're around PNU on Sunday morning. Straight after that you could stick around to watch the Intermediate Camogie team who welcome Naomh Olaf to PNU2 at 12:30. |

Our thoughts are with the organisers of the Griffith Avenue mile. Last weekend's rain must have made for challenging logistics; difficult to run in and very difficult to stand around marshalling in. We wish our neighbours better weather for future races. |
|

|
| I have heard said however that there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad preparation. Our All Stars came out in force, fully prepared for the rain, and by the looks of things, didn't let it dampen their spirits. Well done All-Stars! Representing Vinnies and keeping up spirits! |
