It's hurling this weekend, and we've a couple of social events on the horizon |

Right. I'm going to try to make this quick. The day has run away from me, and time is short. We're back to hurling in the adult men's section; the Senior Camógs aren't on this weekend, and we bow out of ladies football championship. Richie, the bar manager is lining up a couple of social events. Who fancies their chances of a bit of Karaoke? Gwan, you know you want to. Full details below. |

Pitch Side Advertising - Send us a referral, earn money for your team |
| | Mentioned last week, but still worthing keeping in your mind: Would your company (or your parent's company!) like to advertise pitch-side at St Vincents? Then read on. Mentors and players: There's an opportunity here to earn a few quid for your team: If you send us details of a person who may be interested in purchasing pitch side advertising; we'll give you €50 after they agree to advertise. How does this work? - If you know someone who may take out a pitch-side advertisement, fill out their details at this link. Be sure to mention your team name in the form.
- We'll do the rest. We'll follow up with the contact and provide them with all the details; if they take out an advertisement, we'll pay €50 directly to your team.
Juvenile players; Maybe your parent's place of work may be interested? Let us know, but please ask the person for permission to share their contact details before filling in the form. Want to know more? We have a presentation which explains the offer here. We also have a 2 page "convince your boss" document that you can download at this link. Lastly: I'd encourage those working in larger organisations to take a look to see if this is an option. Large corporations often have corporate and social responsibility budgets, aimed squarely at support in the local community. They also sometimes offer bursaries to employees towards volunteering: You may be already entitled based on your involvement - so please have a rummage around your company intranets. Is Intranet even still a thing? Who knows - anyway wherever you can find information on ancillary benefits to staff. Please and thanks! |

Members: Is it your turn? |
| From the "I'm-giving-you-plenty-of-warning" department: The AGM is scheduled for late November - more details and an official notice to come, but I come with news that this AGM will see the end of the current executive's 2-year term. The executive committee will be stepping down, to make way for a new team. Under the terms of our constitution, the members vote in a committee as a whole and do not vote on individual positions. The procedure is that an individual who would like to run the executive should assemble a team and look for nomination for consideration the the AGM. For reference: our constitution states: "The Executive Committee shall be comprised of: 1 The Chairperson, 2 Vice-Chairperson, 3 Treasurer 4 Secretary, 5 Registrar, 6 Officer for Irish Language and Culture, 7 Public Relations Officer, 8 Children’s Officer, 9 Players’ Representative AND 10-19 Five, but not more than ten other Full Members, who shall include Games Directors for each of the four codes played in the Club – Gaelic Football, Hurling, Camogie and Ladies Gaelic Football" Some things an incoming chairperson may want to be aware of: Some members of the current committee may make themselves available to be part of a future committee. I would stress that many of the current committee have served for a number of years and have indicated that they wish to let others take on the role. Of course, nobody would be expected to come in and take over without help from the current committee, and help with handovers, etc will be forthcoming. If you are interested in chairing, or being part of the committee - we recommend a first step is talking to existing committee members. The existing committee members, along with their emails are available on the club website. Also, if you want to just chat about this, feel free to drop me a mail. |
| | | Friday week sees a karaoke night in the bar. I love an aul Karaoke myself. Did you know that the person who gets up and sings always has a better time than the person who refuses to? It's a fact. Even if you're terrible at singing, it's true. Trust me, I should know. Hot on the heels of that, on the 29th September, we'll welcome Pat Adams playing live set, also in the bar. |
| | There's no cover charge - just some good entertainment to come along and enjoy. We hope to see you there. The club also has a solid list of upcoming bookies for 21sts, christenings, etc. If you want to hold a party at the club, get in touch with Richie. |
| Disappointing: Damage to cross bar at PNU2 |
| Last week some damage was sustained on PNU2 when the crossbar was bent out of shape. Works have been carried out to make a repair, but this came at a cost to the club and had to be carried out quickly as matches were scheduled on PNU2. While wanton damage to our fixtures and fittings should never occur, this is also particularly hard on our volunteer teams. There are a number of folks who spend a lot of time behind the scenes, during the day working on the facility to keep it in such good shape, ready for the big games at the weekend. Deliberate damage shows a lack of respect towards their efforts. CCTV Footage has been obtained, and investigations are ongoing. If necessary sanctions, will apply to those who don't treat our facilities with the care and respect they deserve. |
| | Champo Watch: Last Weekend |
| We remain indebted to club photographer, Gráinne McKinney, who has been filling her last couple of weekends by heading to St Vincents games and capturing the events with her amazing photography. Three of our adult games got the Gráinne treatment last weekend. Hard luck to the Ladies A team who were defeated this evening in the Junior B Shield Final by Erin's Isle on a score of 2-6 to 6-6. Hard luck also to the Minor A ladies who lost their Division 2 Championship group stages game against St Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh (1-13 to 2-13); This means they finish second in the group of four, which sees them through to a semi-final meeting away to Ballinteer next Saturday week (23rd) at 3 pm out in Marlay park. I'll remind you all of this next week. The Minor B ladies had a similar fate: They lost to Naomh Olaf on Monday (0-9 to 1-9), and also finished 2nd in the group; That also sees them in a semi-final which will also take place at 3 pm on the 23rd. They'll travel away to take on St Margarets. We wish both minor teams all the best for their semi-final games.
Camogie: A great win over Na Fianna for the Senior Camogie team, winning by 1-14 to 0-7. The Intermediate Camogie team were also successful, beating Whitehall Colmcille by 1-9 to 0-8. The Junior Camogie team also had an emphatic win at the start of last weekend beating CBC by 8-16 to 1-3.
So, a trifecta of results from adult camogie last week, doing the club proud. Check out Gráinne's photography of both the Senior 1 Game and the Junior Game Adult Men: Last weekend was a football one, and our Senior team recorded another win, beating Na Fianna by 1-17 to 0-18. The game was a complete nail-biter, with Na Fianna being ahead for big chunks of the game. But a well-worked move between Mossy Quinn and Sean Lambe produced a goal, which was the turning point in the game. You can still catch the game if you missed it on DubsTV on YouTube. You can also see the photos captured by Gráinne at this link. The Seniors finished 2nd in the table, and have been drawn against Raheny in the quarter-final. This will take place at 4 pm on Sunday 24th September. The intermediate footballers suffered defeat at the hands of Castleknock (2-11 to 2-14). They have finished 2nd in the group. This sees them through to the Intermediate All County Quarter final which has been drawn against Na Fianna, away. That throws in at 17:45 pm on Saturday 23rd September. The Junior A footballers drew with Naomh Mearnóg (0-13 to 2-7) so also finished 2nd in the table. They will next contest the "Go Ahead Junior 2 All County Football Championship Quarter Final" when they travel to Lusk to take on Round Towers. That will throw in at 11:00 am on Sunday 24th September. The Junior B footballers finished 3rd in the group, so didn't qualify for the knockout stage. Minor Boys: The minor boys were in hurling action at the weekend: Minor A lost narrowly to Kilmacud Crokes (1-23 to 2-18) Minor B recorded a big win over Fingallians; The score posted to the Dublin GAA is incorrect, and I can't remember the score, but it was a big one! |

Champo Watch: What's in store this weekend? |
| The hurlers are the marquee game this weekend. It is on Saturday (16th) at 3:30 pm over in O'Toole Park when they go up against Faughs. |
| | Senior Camogie aren't in competitive action this weekend; their next fixture is Sunday 24th, when they'll meet Ballyboden, away. |
| As always, jump over to our fixtures page to find out what else is on, and keep an eye on our social media for any last-minute venue or throw-in time changes. Here are the other adult/minor games going on: The Minor Camógs open the weekend: The Minor A team travel away to take on Faughs (6:30 pm, Friday 14th), while the Minor B team welcome Raheny to PNU2 (7:00 pm, Friday the 24th), Folks: spare a thought for the Minor B camogie. Their first round was postponed. Their second was a bye. They've been patiently training, and have been chomping at the bit to get their championship start this weekend. So, if you can make it, why not get down to this one to lend your support? 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️🔵⚪️ Sunday sees Junior Hurling action: The Junior As play at home on Sunday morning at 11:00 am against Ballyboden St Endas. The Junior Bs also play at home on Sunday - their throw-in is at 3 pm, against Erin's Isle. Wait. No Intermediate hurling? Yep. You read that right. They're on a bye this weekend. The Minor Boys play football this weekend: The Minor A team travel to Fingallians (11:00 am Sunday morning, 17th), while the Minor B footballers travel to Blakestown to take on Peregrins (also at 11: 00 am on Sunday 17th) The Minor C football team have a bye this weekend. |

As part of the ongoing Camogie Sustainable Coaching Development Programme, participants have to complete immersion into juvenile teams, producing and executing on training plans. The U11s seemed only too pleased to have Caoimhe Walsh and Ciara O'Leary down to coach them this evening |
|
|
|
---|
|
| Evidence would suggest that Ciara has been emphasising the importance of being prepared; She led by example by taking the (admittedly wet!) training session in her rain jacket! |
| | Well done to all of the camogie coaching academy participants; phase 3 is coming to an end next week, at which point all of the participants will have experience in coaching juveniles. |
