Club Notes, 1 September 2021

September...what is it about September?

Like an episode of Father Ted, a couple of us were discussing the importance of a date in September. Specifically, the 2nd of September.
"Was that the day the ice age ended?" enquired one.
"No, Dougal.  The ice age ended over a period of time, you can't say that happened on such a specific date"
"I'll check the diary so"
"September 2nd...September 2nd. Here it is:  Marathon becomes Snickers, Ice Age Ends, St Vincents GAA was founded"
"WAIT"
"THAT'S IT!"
"ST VINCENTS WAS FOUNDED on 2nd September 1931!"
"That makes us...."
"Yeah, we're 90 tomorrow"
We're 90 tomorrow.  And still have all our faculties!
Happy Birthday to us

Tickets for the game are available by following the link on the Dublin LGFA site. the game is also live on TG4. Dublin have won the last 4 years, and are trying for a 5-in-a-row!

Camogie All Ireland Final Tickets also on Sale

No sign of Dublin in this I'm afraid, but if you're looking to get out to see some top-flight camogie, the Camogie All Ireland final tickets are now on sale.  The Camogie association say:

This year’s All-Ireland Camogie Championship Finals will take place on Sunday 12th September in Croke Park and we are offering clubs the opportunity to book pods of tickets in close proximity to one another until 1pm Friday 3rd September.

From 1pm Friday, ticket sales will revert to best available seating (not manual selection) and pods will not be guaranteed seating in close proximity.
We strongly encourage you to make your club members aware of this information for those wishing to sit close to family/friends.
Please note that pods can be purchased in 2/3/4/5s within in a pod but it is possible to buy multiple pods.

Each pod is required to have at least one adult ticket.
The ticket levy reduction of €50 from 2021 has been deferred to 2022 due to constraints within the ticketing system which we regret cannot be overcome at this time.

Tickets are priced at €25 for an adult and €5 for U16s.
On the day purchasing of match tickets will be €30 for adults and must also be purchased online.
Tickets can be purchased here

Juvenile Boys Mentors: A word of warning!

Mentors of juvenile boys teams please note: The Dublin County board issued the following statement this week:
"From Saturday 4th September, Team sheets must include players name in both Irish and English along with their GAA registration number.
All Team Mentors’ names must also be listed and Bibs must be worn by all Mentors."

Bear in mind Foireann can generate team sheets with Irish names and GAA Registration numbers. If you have difficulty, do drop me a line, but please, don't leave it until 30 minutes before your game!

Golf Outing: Ryder Cup Style

Folks: Our hope here is that now we can somewhat socialise, that we can get representation from every team in the club. The focus is on a fun day out. If you are spending weekends on the sideline, trading pleasantries with other parents, why not suggest coming along. Last year this was a great day out. Looking forward to this one!

Our one-day golf outing is back. It's organised as a "Ryder Cup" style - pitting one team against the other.  It's very simple:
1. Choose if you'd like to represent the adult section or the juvenile section
2. Buy an entry here
3. Tee times will be allocated
4. Turn up and enjoy!

Date: 24th September
Tee Times: 12:00 to 15:00
Location: Donabate Golf Club.

Champo Watch

Welcome to my new section for this year. I call it "Champo Watch". A  number of teams are beginning (or have begun!) their championship campaigns, and I hope to track all teams in championship action. Mentors: Here's where you can help.  If you have a result or fixture, let me know so I can include it. I really want to ensure that all teams are covered, so get on those whatsapps.  Don't know my number? Well, I'm not publishing it here.  Drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie, and I can send you it.
