There's another road trip coming. |

|
Last week we were relishing the thought of a road trip to Offaly. Couldn't have worked out better. A great win sees our Camogie team into the Leinster Final for the second year on the trot. A couple of other results went our way last weekend too, so all in all not bad. The ladies football closed out their season with an awards night, and the junior footballers won promotion. So, while it's inching closer to the end of year, there still seems to be no shortage of stuff going on! |

Big Club Fundraiser Update |
| | Whoa. I see there's a big jump in sales for the big fundraising social event. I think this may be related to the announcement of Europe's Premiere Goodtime Supergroup Spring Break as the entertainment. This evenings gonna be whopper. We are very close to being sold out. If you're planning on coming along, I'd suggest you don't leave your purchase to the last minute. Here: I'll make it super simple: Here's a link to get your ticket: |
| | How's the mega-raffle sales chart going? Well, there's been a flurry activity, which sees a shake up in the table. Here's how the top 10 now looks: - U11 Boys (=1) AND U8 Boys (↑3)
-
- U12 Boys (↓2)
- U11 Girls (NEW ENTRY)
- U9 Boys (↑9)
- U10 Girls (↑8)
- Mini Leagues (↓4)
- U15 Boys (↓6)
- No team - give my 20% to the club (↓7)
- U10 Boys (↓5)
Remember, if your team isn't showing here - that suggests that folks have yet to purchase; Also remember that 20% of the ticket revenue in your teams name will be given to the team. So mentors: keep encouraging! Here's a link which just contains tickets to the mega raffle. |
| | | If you want a poster like the one above one done for your team, drop a note to John McConnell. |

Juvenile Mentors: one for the off season? |
| Leinster Water Polo are running a short 6 week course on water polo in the pool at Trinity college. Maybe an interesting one for your team in the off season? Its aimed at 8-12 year olds. Entry is €54.60 per child - 6 weeks, 1 hour per week (Saturdays). You'd wann abe quick though - it starts this Saturday. Full details on their Eventbrite Page. |
| How did last weekend's games go? |
| Well done to the Junior A footballers, who won the AFL7 promotion playoff; They beat Castleknock 1-13 to 1-10. They'll be playing AFL6 next year! |
| | Well done also to the Minor A Hurling team who had a 6 point win away to Ballyboden (1-15 to 0-12) in the Minor A hurling championship quarter final. This puts them through to the A Semi Final in a couple of weeks. The U16 A Hurling team also had a good win in their quarter-final, beating Ballinteer St John by the narrowest of margins (0-13 to 1-9) in the U16 A championship quarter final. They too are through to the semi final. The U16 B Hurlers also had a quarter-final win, beating Setanta 4-9 to 3-8 in the U16 "D" championship. It's a semi for them so, too. Unfortunately, the U21 Hurlers suffered defeat at the hands of Faughs (2-13 to 0-13). The U21 is a straight knock out competition, so our involvement ends there. Hard luck to our Minor A Camogie team who were beaten in the Minor Division 2 Championship semi-final last night (1-6 to 2-10) against Castleknock. Commiserations also to our U15 Camogie team who lost their cup final (U15 Div 2) by 3 points against Clontarf (1-6 to 0-12). Wait. is that it? Aren't I forgetting something? |

Champagne Camogie in the Leinster Semi-Final |
| | | Cracking win in Offaly last weekend, when our girls defeated the Offaly champions Birr comfortably on a score line of 3-13 to 0-5. There's a good write up by Niall Scully over on independent.ie; he rightly points out that the next challenge, the Leinster Final, is likely to be a tough encounter against the Kilkenny champions, Dicksboro. That game will be played in Netwatch Cullen Park, Carlow on Sunday 19th November; Throw-in is at 2:45 pm; Looks like another road trip! In the meantime, you can enjoy photos of the semi-final courtesy of Birr Camogie club are over on our Facebook page. |
| | End of Season awards night held by Ladies' footballers |
| | The ladies football section held their end of season awards night last Friday in the club. The evening included a Q&A panel hosted by Ger Gilroy from ‘Off The Ball’ with Mossy Quinn, Niamh Hetherton, Caoimhe O’Connor, Paul Casey and Mickey Whelan, and a guest appearance for the Brendan Martin cup. It was followed by Cups & medals presentations : Adult Div 5 league winners, Adult Div 10 Championship winners and Minor Division 2 Championship winners. There's images of the night over on Facebook. |

| Last week I stated that the U14s Girls were the first team in the club to reach Divsion 1 in both Camogie and Ladies football. I should know better than to rely on rumour and hearsay. I'm told that this accolade was already collected by the 2005 girls, who achieved this in the move from U14 to U15. My apologies to the 2005 girls; all I can say is that there was skin and hair flying at the editorial meeting and one of our fact checkers are on a final warning. |
| | | Hats of to the "Third Thursday" meetup gang. They've renamed their regular catch up to "Thirsty Thursdays". This is a meeting of anyone who'd like to come to the bar on the third Thursday of the month to chat; I'm told this is building up a head of steam; All are welcome. The next event is Thursday 30th November. Meet in the club at 8:30 pm. |
| What's this weekend got in store? |
| So, a few teams still in championship action. We send our best wishes to : - U16 A Footballers. They're in the A Shield Quarter-Final against Castleknock A; That's on Saturday (11th) at 2:30 pm away in Porterstown
- The U14 B Footballers contest the Division 5 Shield FINAL against Kilmacud Crokes out in Marlay Park (Saturday 11th, 2:30pm)
- The U21 A Footballers open their campaign with an away trip to Cuala (Saturday 11th, 2:30pm) in Hyde Park.
- We've also an U21 B Football team entered this year. I believe this is the first time we've entered two U21 teams in a long time. They visit Russell Park on Saturday 11th at 2:30 pm to take on St Brigids in the U21 "D" Championship.
- On Sunday 12th, our U14 Ladies Footballers contest the Division 2 Championship Final when they play Fingal Ravens away. (1:30pm)
- Our U13 Ladies footballers are also in crunch stage action - They are in the Divsion 3 Cup Semi-Final on Sunday 12th at home on PNU2 at 1:30pm. They take on St Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh.
- Our U13 B Ladies football team contest the Division 9 Shield Semi-Final; That's also on Sunday 12th at 1:30pm, away to Skerries.
Honorable mention Not a championship game, but now that the Senior Championship is over AFL1 is now being completed. Our Senior footballers travel to Pairc Ui Murchu on Sunday morning (12th at 11:00 am) to take on Ballyboden. Similarly, our Junior B footballers (AFL9) play their final league game when they welcome Clann Mhuire to PNU2 on Sunday at 3:30pm. The teams are in 4th and 5th place in the table, so on paper this one should be close. |

I see young CJ Hedgeo may have a challenge on his hands for the clubs youngest member. Congratulations to Seadhan and Niamh Perry on the birth of their Baby Girl Bonnie. Proud grandfather (and former Senior Hurling manager) Prionsias De Poire sent on this image of himself with the future Camogie captain. I for one, dig her style in babygros. |
