Your update from the home of the Leinster Camogie Champions!

Doesn't that have a nice ring to it? A super performance and a new milestone in the club's history. And there's still more games that need support this weekend. Winning does feel good!
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Let's start with that game

I gotta say, the Camogie team came out onto the pitch looking like a different outfit. It was if they replaced match day nerves with confidence and self belief. Right from the get go, they took control, scoring 1-1 in the first 2 minutes. By the 21st minute, Martin's had brought the game back to a draw at 1-5 apeice, and half time saw nothing between us at 1-6 each. The game took a big turn when Martins had a goal disallowed due to a square ball, whilst Niamh Heterton raised the green flag almost immediately at the other end. With 10 minutes to go, we were looking good on a score line of 2-9 to 1-7
The 4th official called for 5 minutes of extra time, and Martin's never gave up. They got a goal with the final puck of the game, with the final score ending 2-11 to 2-9. A thrilling encounter altogether. For a for comprehensive write up, The 42 wrote a good article. In addition, the Leinster Camogie Council put their official photos up on facebook. Lots of great ones up there.
Just to put this in context.
  • The last time we achieved this level of success in Camogie was 1998.
  • The only other Dublin team to have won it since was Ballyboden, who did it in 2008
So congratulations to the entire squad, and management team.  You've brought home a piece of history, and we look forward to supporting you on the next step.

U16 A Final - Refixed

Our U16 footballers were meant to contest the U16 A Championship final last week against Kilmacud Crokes. Unfortunately, Parnell Park was deemed unplayable, so this has now been fixed for this weekend; It is down for Saturday at 3pm in Parnell Park.  In the event of Parnell Park being unplayable, CCC2 have deemed it should be played in PNU.  Of course, with an all-weather pitch to rely on, it means the fixture will definitely go ahead. Let's get out and support the lads. Keep an eye on social media on Saturday morning; I'll announce the defnitive venue once I have it.

Fantastic response to our Christmas charity appeal already. Our first collection night was last night and plenty of donations came in, so thank you all. Sure, while you're coming to the AGM tomorrow, why not bring along something to donate to the appeal?

Junior Hurlers in important clash this weekend

This Saturday, November 30th sees our Junior Hurlers taken on Rathnure-St, Annes of Wexford in the Junior B Leinster Hurling Semi-Final. It takes place in Killeedy GAA, Limerick. How hardcore of a supporter are you ? We've put on a Bus to Killeedy . Return fare is €20 and can be booked online here. We're going to need the numbers to make this work.  It's a 30 seater, so first come, first served. If you're on that Junior Hurling panel, please let you family and friends know as soon as possible. In the event that this doesn't sell well, we'll be forced to cancel. Also, please consider supporting the team financially: They're running a fundraising "guess the score" competiiion. Entry at the club bar.
If you're on the fence about heading down, their facebook event: hints at a welcome: "Complementary Tea/Coffee and Sandwiches served after the match in the adjoining Community Centre. Man of the Match award kindly sponsored by Brian & Teresa Casey of Casey's Pub Raheenagh will be presented in Casey's pub after the refreshments."

Are you a recent "drifter" ?

Did you or one of your family used to play for Vincents? As we start to consider the new season, we're looking to reach out to anyone who's drifted away in recent times. We know how it feels, the longer you leave it, the more it may feel like it is difficult to return. But we want you back! We're always looking to add numbers to our teams, and we welcome newcomers, and people who've drifted away alike. If you know anyone who needs a nudge, please let them know they'd be welcome back. If you want to return, drop me a mail, and i'll make sure the correct mentor gets in touch.

I always knew this week's "and finally.." would be related to the Leinster win. With 3 solid days of partying, there was lots to pick from, but I think this one captured the mood of the girls on Sunday night well.
