Your Club Update
July 8, 2020

Champo is just around the corner..already

We're only just getting to grips with processes and procedures around training, and we're straight back to it. In a couple of short weeks we'll be into championships for adults. Yes, folks you'll have something to go and watch. But bear in mind, social distancing, and any other government/GAA guidelines will remain in place.
If you like information on the club more often than a week apart, you can always follow our social channels Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Advice for Supporters

If you are planning on attending a game, we'd ask you to consider current government advice. Please bear in mind that many of our loyal supporters themselves are elderly; Simple precautions are in the interests of everyone.
Current health measures (from the government) state:
"Mass gatherings should be organised in advance and follow public health advice for COVID-19, including advice on physical distancing.
Gatherings should be of no more than 50 people indoors or 200 people outdoors."
It also suggests the use of face coverings in some circumstances:
"wear a face covering in situations where physical distancing is not possible, for example shops and busy public transport, or if you are meeting someone who is vulnerable to the virus, for example people who are extremely medically vulnerable and people over 70 years. Wearing cloth face coverings may help prevent people who do not know they have the virus from spreading it to others"
Our advice if you're coming to watch a game:
1. Travel with people from your household only.
2. Make sure you practise social distancing while at the game.
3. This may be your first time seeing some familiar faces in a while, but resist the urge to shake hands, high-five or hug.
4. Consider a face mask for the sake of others.

So, about those championship games

Senior Hurling Championship gets underway in just 10 days. Our lads face Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh in round 1. Its on Saturday 18th July at 6:30pm on PNU1. I hope to see you there (well, 200 of you in any way).

Exactly 1 week later, on Saturday 25th at 6:30 pm, our footballers contest round 1 of the championship versus Whitehall Colmcille in their ground on Collins Ave. A local derby beckons, and sure that's practically at home too.

Mini Legues for Girls Return

More good news! Mini Leagues for girls returns this weekend. Starting back Saturday 11th July at 10:30 am. Normally Mini-Leagues takes a break for summer, but with the hiatus, the mentor team beind the girls mini-leagues are bringing it back this Saturday.
As with the rest of the club, this will occur under "Safe Return to Play" Guidelines.
Parents: We're delighted to have your daughter back this weekend; prior to return:
  • Please ensure you have taken the online training at https://courses.gaa.ie/Covid19ClubEd/
  • When you complete the course, take a screen shot or download your certificate of completion. You may be asked by the Covid supervisor for Mini-Leagues to provide evidence that you have completed the course.
  • Sign up to the return to play system at https://returntoplay.gaa.ie.Make sure you choose "St Vincents GAA" as your club.
  • Make a declaration on your child's current health (for team, choose "U7 Camogie")
  • For all subsequent training sessions, please re-declare on the day of training.
  • Be aware that attendance records will be kept to help with contact tracing should that be required.
  • Bring hand sanitiser and sanitise your childs hands before and after training.
  • During training avoid close contact with other parents - please observe social distancing.
We relise that this is not the training we're all used to. The other age groups have found their way quickly with these processes, as we are sure you will too. Rest assured that the same emphasis will be placed on ensuring your daughter has a fun time, and the club are taking our responsibilites very seriously.
For those mini-league parents who are wondering "When are the boys back?". Watch this space. I hope to have news of this soon too.

And finally..

It was a quiet week this week; the poor weather kept me away from the club, so no chance to catch some banter. I went further afield and in my search came across a special edition of AIG's "Dub Club Chronicles". A tribute to the late Dave Billings, I can't believe I didn't see this before. I know many will find this emotional; It's wonderful. Watch it here
