| | The call for referees keeps on coming. Maybe at one time or another, you've given out about a ref. Maybe you think you could do better. Well, how about you step up and give it a go? Here are a couple of opportunities: Juvenile Boys Refs: From the Dublin County board, who are looking for people to take CCC2 games (U13 to U16): "Many Clubs have made promises to the committee about meeting a minimum requirement to supply at least ONE Referee for every FIVE CCC2 Teams entered in CCC2 competitions.
Please don’t pass up this opportunity within your Club as CCC2 currently have a lack of Referees. Since 2019 the committee has seen a 25% increase in teams taking part in U13 to U16 activity." With this in mind, they are running a Level 3 Referee Course. Details are: - Dates: 20/22/27 March + 1 April
- Time: 7:00 - 9:00 pm, with a practical session on the 1st of April
Course Requirements: - Must be 18yrs or over.
- Fully garda vetted.
- Currently a registered member of a GAA club
- Complete the online entrance exam (pass rate 70% required)
The course fee is €100 with referee gear. Full details are here. f you'd like to take part, please drop a mail to the club secretary who will forward your details to the county board. Ladies Gaelic Football Referees: The Dublin Ladies Gaelic County board were also in touch. They say: "Register now for the LGFA's Grab Your Whistle Adult referee course! The course offers the opportunity for referees to take the next step on their officiating pathway. The course is designed to recruit and train referees aged 18+ progressing from the youth course. On completion of the course, the referee will be qualified to referee competitive club football at adult and juvenile level." Participants must have completed the Grab Your Whistle Youth course or have a minimum of two years experience officiating in Gaelic Games.
Dublin venue: Carlton Hotel, Old Airport Road, Santry MARCH 11th. Time 10 am to 5 pm. BOOK via this link
Ladies Gaelic Football Referees for Juvenile: The LGFA board go on to say: "Michelle Keating is looking to add to her list of referees available to officiate U13 club football. This would suit club referees who have been officiating club Go Games for a number of years now and who are seeking to move up into the U13 age group. If you have any member interested in refereeing at this level, please contact Michelle directly by email." |
| | Memberships for 2023 are now due |
| By now, you've probably received an automated mail from ClubZap about the memberships being due. Memberships are essential to the running of the club, and a big chunk of them go immediately to the GAA, LGFA and Camogie Association as registration fees, including player insurance. Fees are also paid in the form of Games Fees to county boards, so it is imperative that we collect them as soon as possible. Special thanks to the many members who were very quick to pay promptly. The membership fee rates for 2023 are online with Club Zap. Payment can be made online at https://vins.ie/membership. Students must upload their current student id to avail of student rates. Please contact Michelle at 01-8335722 or office@stvincentsgaa.ie should you have any queries. If you'd like to download a copy of the chairperson's letter regarding memberships, you can get it here. |

| Entries for your social diary |
| A couple of things for the social calendar: J7 Quiz Night The Junior 7 footballers are having a fundraising quiz night in the club bar on Friday, March 10 from 7:30 pm. Tickets are €60 for a table of six, and if you can't make a table, no worries - you can purchase a ticket for one, the folks will find you a team. Tickets are available here. |
| | Senior Football Lunch The annual senior football fundraising lunch is on Friday, March 10 in Clontarf Castle. Registration is at 12:30 pm with lunch at 1:00 pm. Brilliant speakers, with the event MC'd by Darragh Maloney. A table of 10 at this event is €1,000. for information contact Ciaran Donohoe |
| | St Patrick's Day in St Vincents And if two events in the previous week weren't enough for you, why not get yourself down to the club on Friday 17th March (Bank holiday!)? The day will begin with a family treasure hunt for pots of gold around the club. This is one to bring grannies and grandads, aunts and uncles along for. In the afternoon, we'll have an open mic slot for club members who can play an aul tune. I know there are a number of folks who play the tin whistle, fiddle, guitar or have a voice. Get yourself down and entertain your fellow members! The evening will top off with a live ballad session with Aidan Kelly. We hope to see you there. |
| | | Folks, do me a solid and allow me to drop this section, will ya? A couple of things keep causing issues - Parking. We'd ask all members to be considerate of our nearby neighbours. Particularly, we ask you not to use surrounding areas for parking when visiting the club. If at all possible, arrive on foot, and if you have to drive, please use our car park.
But..when you do, please also remain considerate! Hatched areas are to be left clear - they are there to aid with traffic flow, or for emergency vehicle access. As for those folks who think the median line can fit one more car.... Ahhh c'mon. You're causing havok. - Dogs. Again, with the Dogs. Dogs aren't permitted in the club grounds.

| Free Money for the Club! Something to keep in mind |
| Club member Aisling O'Meara was in touch to tell us about the Doyle Hotels' GAA Club Support Programme. In simple terms: If anyone you know is staying at the Croke Park Hotel, make sure they mention St Vincents when carrying out the booking. 10% of their spending during the stay will be donated to the club. This comes at no cost to anyone. Winner! Full details here. Thanks for letting us know Aisling! |
| | A couple more county call-ups have been brought to my attention this week. So, congratulations to Ronan O'Neill, Barry Curley and Ryan Murphy who lined out for the Dublin Minor Hurlers last week. |
