|
| | Adult Fixtures begin in just a matter of a few weeks, with the weekend of 18th February looking like D-Day. Unfortunately, at this point in time there are a number of management positions still to be finalised, and the important role of Adult Games Director still with a gap. Folks: We need people to step up! |

| | From the Dublin County board: "A Chara, The CCC will arrange approx’ 4,500 fixtures this year. This year we need new Referees to replace other Referees who have recently retired for various reasons. Without new Referees we won’t be able guarantee competition of our 2023 games programme.
I am appealing to each Club to nominate at least one member who would be willing to take up Refereeing. Coiste na Reiteoiri are holding a course for new Referees in Parnell Park commencing on February 13th next and concluding on March 1st. Anyone interested in taking part should email Finbarr Gaffney at gaffneyfin@gmail.com" I'm not sure I can add to this, except to say that the county board are getting increasingly concerned about this situation. In the past they've suggested sanctions on clubs who don't provide their fair share of referees; I don't think it's far off the place where they'll act on this. |
| Speaking of badly needed.. |
| The position of Adult Games Director (Mens section) remains open since the start of the year. A trawl of names has occurred and individuals have been approached, but as of the time of writing, the position remains open. I suppose I sometimes harp on about the importance of volunteerism: It's the backbone of the club; but if ever there was a time we need help, it's now. Maybe you've stopped playing a few years back, maybe you've mentored for years; or maybe you've even drifted away for a year or two. If you're think you can help, please get in touch. Whoever steps up will have the full support of the executive. So whatever your “I would..except..” reason, come speak to us - we may be able to remove those final doubts! |
| Memberships for 2023 are now due |
| By now, you've probably received an automated mail from ClubZap about the memberships being due. Memberships are essential to the running of the club, and a big chunk of them go immediately to the GAA, LGFA and Camogie Association as registration fees, including player insurance. Fees are also paid in the form of Games Fees to county boards, so it is imperative that we collect them as soon as possible. Special thanks to the many members who were very quick to pay promptly. The membership fee rates for 2023 are online with Club Zap. Payment can be made online at https://vins.ie/membership. Students must upload their current student id to avail of student rates. Please contact Michelle at 01-8335722 or office@stvincentsgaa.ie should you have any queries. If you'd like to download a copy of the chairperson's letter regarding memberships, you can get it here. |
| | We've mentioned this before folks, but we need to emphasise that dogs are not allowed in the club. We know how much we love our 4 legged friends, but unfortunately, not everyone is diligent about cleaning up or keeping their dogs under control. Dog soiling continues to be a problem, and it only takes one careless dog owner to not clean up after their dog to create a potentially bad situation. We are first and foremost a sporting club and our playing areas are there for our members, young and old as training and playing surfaces. Please folks, unless you are going for a walk out of the club, leave the doggos at home! |
| Mentor Course for first timers |
| Our Games Promotion Officer, Shane O'Grady is running a coaching course for new mentors. This is aimed at parents of mini-leagues, and teenage helpers too. The course will take place in the club on Wednesday 8th February from 7-8.30 pm. Register your interest here. |
| Weekend coffee club: This Saturday |
| This Saturday is the first Saturday of the month; this means the monthly “Coffee Club” will meet in the club bar (around 10-10:30 am). The monthly coffee club is a gathering of our more senior members who chat and reminisce over a cup of coffee. It's open to all. See you on Saturday, |
| Congratulations to Ash Maher! |
| Great news for our own Aisling Maher. Topping off a great season of winning Dublin and Leinster with Vins, Dublin Camogie announced last week that she's been selected to be the captain of the Dublin team for the coming year. Well done Ash! |
