Support on the day would be much appreciated, so if you can please bring (and buy!) small cakes and cookies, that would be brilliant. Well done to everyone involved with the Féile Camogie last weekend. A. great account was given of our club.Thank you for the report on the day to our roving reporters. Camogie Feile Report – A and B squads Complied by Adrian Broderick, Ciara Russell, and Máirín Delaney St Vincent’s A team – Division 1 We played in Division 1 and were drawn in a group with Faughs, Cuala and Ballinteer St. John’s. Faughs were excellent hosts for the day and the weather was mostly dry and sunny. We started with a narrow loss by 1 goal to Faughs, but then beat Ballinteer and Cuala to qualify for the semi-final. This was on in Silverpark v Clontarf in the afternoon. The exertions of the three morning games caught up with the girls and we were beaten by Clontarf. The girls put in a huge effort though and their mentors were very proud of them. Special mention to the face painting crew who even managed to convince some of the mentors to join in! Congratulations to Faughs who defeated Clontarf in the final on Sunday. St Vincent’s B Team – Division 8 Our journey began on Saturday morning with a short trip to Lucan Sarsfields, who were fantastic hosts. We found ourselves in a grouping with Na Fianna, Lucan Sarsfields and Ballinteer St. Johns. We came out victorious in all three group matches, topping our group, but incurred an injury, leaving us down a player for the semi-final. The semi-final against Erin’s Isle was a tough match, with both teams hungry for a place in the final. Our players battled hard throughout, and it paid off as we secured our place in the final!
The final took place in Naomh Peregrine on Sunday afternoon against our neighbours, Clontarf. The stadium was full of cheering supporters. The atmosphere was electric. It was a nail biting match! Clontarf went ahead by 1 point from a free. Aoife Loughnane came to the rescue and buried a goooooaaaaaallll! Clontarf brought it back to a 1 point difference from another free. In the second half Mia Palumbo hit the back of the Clontarf net, but unfortunately it was a disallowed goal. Clontarf came at us again in the last minute and went for goal. Our goalie, Sadhbh Cox, pulled off an incredible save! The whole match was edge-of-the-seat stuff, but our players fought to the bitter end to ensure they kept their 1 point lead when the final whistle blew. The player of the match was awarded to Grace Dunne who defended like her life depended on it, an up-and-coming u14 player who I'm sure you'll see on the senior team in years to come. Hollie Faherty, our Captain, who had a great game in full back, stepped up to receive the winning cup, her team and supporters cheering her on. What a moment! A weekend of incredible skill and memories that will last a lifetime! We are beyond proud of each player – Camoige Féile 2024 Champions! Naomh Uinsionn Abú. Finally… Across both weekends, all girls on both the A and B squads did their teams, their mentors, their families, and St Vincent’s very proud. A big bualadh bos to each and every one of them.
It was a truly memorable experience for both squads that will last a lifetime and that they will talk about for years to come. Thank you very much for all the clubs that hosted the girls over the two weeks – St Finians, Ballyboden St Enda’s, Inishfails, Faugh’s, Kilmacud Crokes, Lucan Sarsfields, and Peregrines. It is a mammoth task for all these clubs to host and we are truly grateful.

Intercounty Action | We have had lots of strong representations across the codes over the last few weeks and as always our club members made great contributions to their panels. In particular, we had strong camogie representation for Dublin last weekend, including Leinster finals. At Under 16 B, Clodagh Glennon and Ciara Rowden represented Dublin against Kilkenny, losing out by 8pts in the end. Kay Ryan (pictured below) was awarded Dublin C team Player of the Match for her super contribution to their Leinster final win over Kildare yesterday. Our two first year minor girls, Kaitlyn McKenna and Ruth Cosgrave were out with our Dublin minors on Saturday, drawing against Wexford; Dub 1-9, wex; 2-6. The replay will be played this weekend. Our first year minor, Meabh Cotter was in corner back for the U17 Dublin devt squad! They played their All Ireland devt final against Clare last weekend, losing out by 4 points! Great show all around for our Vins camogie girls! | | |

Whether you are a playing or non-playing member it is vital you renew your membership. It helps pay for the pitches, the lights, the hall, the heating... I could go on. But for players it is doubly important, as it pays your insurance, and your registration with the various associations. |
