Club Notes, 19 May 2021

Return to play. Actual play. Not just training, like.

This week saw a number of teams get out if only, for a challenge game. We also have a historic first for the ladies footballers, and brief news on upcoming senior games.
As always, keep an eye on social channels (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook)
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Congratulations, Adult Ladies Footballers

History was made this evening as our Adult Ladies team participated in their first ever competitive game.  The game took place on PNU2 against a formidable St Finian's team. Victory, it wasn't to be, but a super 4th quarter saw the girls finish out with a brace of unanswered points. Congratulations to the management and squad on this historic milestone.

Speaking of Ladies Footballers

The Dublin LGFA issued a checklist for LGFA mentors.  Particularly useful if you're mentoring for the first time.  See checklist below

Fixtures page - first update since September 2020

Did you know that we maintain a list of upcoming competitive fixtures on the club website? It located at https://www.stvincentsgaa.ie/fixtures. This week was the first time I've been required to update this page since late last year, and it is currently listing 19 games for this weekend.
Folks: Bear in mind that there are restrictions on attendances.  In short - you're probably fine to go to your child's game, but if you're planning on turning up for a senior football or camogie game, this may not be possible.

Summer sessions launched

Our juvenile section will be running summer skills sessions which take place between July 19th and August 4th. Here's what you need to know:
Fun skills sessions for boys and girls aged 6-16. Limited place fun sessions over two weeks at the end of July to early August
  • The sessions are broken into 4 age groups: (U7, U8, U9/10, and U11/12, U13/14, U15/16)
  • There are 4 sessions for each U7-U12 age group held over 2 weeks.
  • There are 2 advanced sessions for the U13-U16 age group held over 2 days.
  • Each session is 90 minutes long
  •  Sessions can be attended individually (€6 per session)
  •  U7-U2 can book 4 sessions for €20
  •  U13-U16 can book 2 sessions for €10.

I know its a while away. It is of course, subject to goverment guidelines. But I also know that enquiries on this have been coming in thick and fast of late.  With that in mind, why not jump over to the booking page and secure you child's place?

Lotto

There was no lotto draw last Monday.  No prizes for guessing why. We. don't. run. lotto. on. a. bank. holiday. "Why not?"I hear you ask.  Because we're sound, and we don't expect people to have to work on bank holidays, of course!
Next week's lotto jackpot is €1,450.

St Vincents Ryder Cup: Now on Sale

I've mentioned the golf outing for the last couple of weeks.  This time we thought "what the heck, let's open it up".  So, if you're interested in a fun one-day golf outing on September 24th, you can book your ticket here. Don't worry, if it can't go ahead due to public health measures, we'll issue a full refund.

Senior Games this Weekend

This weekend sees two senior games return.  Our footballers are in action at home on Saturday evening against Naomh Mearnog, while the Senior Camogie team take on Lucan on Sunday morning. Looks like ticketed attendance will be likely; we're expecting some guidance from the county board - We'll make a separate announcement if it comes though, but for reference, when we were at this stage last year, the games were ticketed and so limited we couldn't provide them on general release or sale.

Problems with Foireann? Just drop me a note

Most of our initial teething problems with Foireann seem to be thinning out, but if you are having any trouble - drop me a note.  There are a couple of common issues which I'm able to solve pretty easily, so don't suffer in silence! If something isn't working as you expect, send me an e-mail with a description of the problem, and I'll see if I can help.

It's Membership Renewal Time

With return to play, and even dates for games, we need to ensure everyone is registered with the GAA, LGFA and Camogie Assocation; In order to do this, we need all memberships in!  You can renew your membership at this link.
Thank you to all who have renewed to date.  We've seen a good uptick in people sorting memberships since we've returned.

Newsletter details

This newsletter is sent to over 1000 recipients and is a great way to inform members of club happenings. If you want anything included in the newsletter, drop a mail to pro@stvincentsgaa.ie. Comments and feedback are welcome too.

And finally..

We're blessed to have a great photographer in Grainne McKinney who takes it on herself to turn up at games and snap the action. She took this wonderful image last night prior to the first Senior Camogie game. A perfect evening, a perfect moment. A team locked in concentration listening to the the wise words of Mickey Whelan. The newsletter doesn't do it justice. Head over to facebook for the full resolution version.
