Speaking of the Gym..

A number of players we allowed borrow equipment from the gym to keep fit during lockdown. Whilst most of this has returned, a number of pieces are still to be brought back. If you have any equipment borrowed from the club gym, we ask that you return it this Saturday morning, 12 December between 10 am and 12 midday. Please and thank you!

RIP: Michael O'Hanlon

It is with regret that we have learned of the passing of Michael O'Hanlon formerly of Naomh Uinsionn. Michael played with Vins many years ago, but then went on to coach for many more years with St Patrick's Palmerstown. Some of you may remember him as "Limo". Our sympathies are with his family at this tough time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam. Funeral notice is here.

Dublin Ladies Gaelic and Dublin Camogie ratify alternate weeks

Delighted to say that both Dublin Ladies boards (Football and Camogie) have ratified a plan to produce a calendar of alternate weeks for Camogie and Football. An important step for player welfare and retention, the proposals allow for "..alternate weeks for u13 and u14 for the 2021 leagues, followed by alternate weeks for u13, u14, u15 and u16 for the 2021 Championships". We commend both associations for getting this passed at their annual conventions, and the working group set up by both to tackle this issue. Onwards for Ladies Gaelic Games in the capital!

Inter-county action to look forward to

So, the All Ireland football final is upon us. Dublin head for 6-in-a-row against recent rivals Mayo. What an unusual year. You'll have to watch this on TV on the 19th December, with throw in at 5pm. The curtain-raiser for that game is the U20 All Ireland Final which is Dublin v Galway (2:30pm Throw in). Quick: find a pub offering a substantial meal and book in for 5pm. Here's my plan: 5pm Aperitif with throw in. Water break: Get the starter in. Half time: Nosh down on the main. 2nd water break: Time for dessert. All washed down with something nice. Final whistle - Time to go home. Tidy.

The following day, The Ladies Footballers go for a 4-in-a-row against their toughest oponents of recent years, Cork. That's a 3:30pm throw in on Sunday 20th December. With that competition sponsored by TG4, my guess is that's who'll be screening it.

CMON YOU BOYS AND GIRLS IN BLUE!!

Christmas Charity Appeal

A reminder that this year's charity partner is Inner City Helping Homeless. Unfortunately we cannot do a donation drive like in previous years so we ask members to consider doing an online donation to the ICHH instead.
Donations can be made direct to ICHH here
Example of what your donation will cover:
  • €15 - will fund outreach support for one rough sleeper
  • €30 - will fund outreach support for two rough sleepers
  • €50 - will fund emergency day service support

Your donations will go a long way, no matter how big or small.

And finally..

The "split Dublin in 2" argument raged all last weekend after Dublin beat Cavan by 15 points. That's quite the margin for a Semi-Final, but I didn't hear any complaints about a 13 point win in the other game. Our own Pat Gilroy argued the case well on the Sunday Game, but was of course treated to a multitude of opinions online. Here's my favourite.
