Best of Luck to the Jackies! |
| | We wish the best of luck to the Dublin Ladies Senior Football team who are in the All-Ireland Final this Sunday 13th August in Croke Park. Throw-in is at 4 pm. Word is this one is selling well, and may be on course to beat the previous world record for the number of supporters attending a women's sporting event. Tickets are available in SuperValu/Centra, Ticketmaster (up to 5 pm on Friday), or directly from the LGFA office. If mentors want to take a group, I recommend emailing tickets@lgfa.ie or calling 01-836 3156 and see what group offers may be available. Our special wishes go out to Senior Camogie player Niamh Hetherton who lines out on Sunday; The dual-star plays her large-ball game with Clontarf. |
| Reminder: Our Adult Ladies B Team contest their Championship Final Tonight! |
| | I've got the notes out a little earlier than normal today. And good job too, because I'm in with a chance of reminding supporters that the Ladies B team play in their championship final this evening. The game is in Lawless Park (That's Finagallian's ground, in Swords), throwing in at 8:30 pm. A big support will give the girls an extra push! Please note the game is ticketed, but only €5 entrance. Tickets can be purchased online at this link. |
| And so begins the Mens' Football Championships |
| The ladies' B almost finished, two games under the belt for the Hurlers, and we're finally getting around to the Mens' Dublin Senior Football Championship. Of course, the Inter-county games had to complete, so that's why we're only getting underway now. The big marquee game is this week's meeting of the Senior Footballers against Whitehall Colmcilles. |
| | Here's all you need to know: Date and Time: Friday, August 11, 7:30 pm Venue: Parnell Park Tickets: The game is ticketed; €10. Purchase online here. U16s are free and do not need a ticket. Can't make it? It will be live on DubsTV on YouTube. Of course, it isn't just the Senior Team commencing their championship campaigns this weekend. We wish all the best to: The Intermediate footballers take on Castleknock on Saturday 12th August at 6:15 pm, at home on PNU1 Sunday morning (13th August) sees both Junior teams start their championships: Our Junior A play in the Junior 2 Championship taking on Naomh Mearnóg at 11:00 am at home on PNU1 Also at 11:00 on Sunday the Junior Bs contest the Junior 3 Championship against Scoil Ui Chonaill, also at home; they play on PNU2 So folks: Sunday morning is a twofor if you want to catch some footballing action! |
| | While I was quick to congratulate Dublin's Maor Uisce Pat Gilroy last weekend, it was pointed out to me just how much of an impact the club has behind the scenes in the Dublin Football setup. So, here's a belated congratulations to: Shane O'Hanlon, who was a selector on the team. James Allen, Physio Diarmuid Smyth, Sideline Doctor, Mick O'Neill who is kit man for the team, And Senior Player Sean Lowry who formed part of the extended playing panel. All Vins folks! - Well done lads. |

We had 5 girls called up to Dublin's U14 development squad. Last Satruday saw them take place in an All Ireland U14 Intercounty blitz. Well done to Emma Broderick, Orlaith Bruton and Ava Curry who lined out on Dublin's "Blue" team.Saturday |

| And to Sephanie O'Riordan and Brónach Guildfoyle who played for Dublin's "White" team, coming away with a Shield win. |
| | To top it all off, the girls lined out for Dublin U14 who formed part of the half-time entertainment during the Intermediate Camogie Final at Croke Park. |
| | I'm sure the girls will take away some cherished memories from the weekend. |
