Club Notes, 8th  December 2021

And then, there were one.

From 3 still in action, we're down to 1. Champo watch will indeed be small this week.  In fact, the notes will be small.

As always, keep an eye on social channels (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook)

Adult players: Got a couple of minutes for a student survey?

I know we've published a few of these in the last few months, but it only takes 10 minutes.  Besides, up to very recently, there was precious little research going into gaelic games, so it is great to see the proliferation of these surveys.  This one came via the county board, and is aimed at adult players:

"My name is Conor Hurley and I am a final year student in DCU in the Athletic Therapy and Training programme, and a member of the Cuala club in Dublin.

As part of my degree I am undertaking a research project investigating the attitudes gaelic games players have towards seeking mental health help. I would be very grateful if this survey could be forwarded to as many clubs as possible, as the more respondents we get, the better an idea of the current mental health situation in the GAA community we will get.

It is a one time anonymous survey, which takes less than 10 minutes to complete."

Gwan.  Please and thank you!

Executive committee positions

As previously mentioned, the club is in the process of building a new executive committee. Some members of the executive committee may be willing to stay on under a new Chairperson, whilst other positions will become available.  Our consititution is such that a Chairperson is voted in by the membership, and they would typically bring a committee with them.
Taking part in the executive is rewarding, and gives you a chance to have a say in the running of the club, aid in decision making, and is a great way to serve your community. If you are interested in any of the positions within the club executive, we encourage you to speak to any member of the current team. If you want a first port of call, feel free to drop me a mail.

Mini-Leagues finished, but Santa made an appearance!

Mini leagues finished up last weekend; and as is the tradition, Santa was on hand to greet the boys and girls. Check out this video of the session!

All Stars, finished, but Santa made an appearance too!

Last friday saw the final All Stars event of this year.  This too was rounded off with a visit from Santa. Once again, Emma was on hand to video. Thanks Emma,  Take a look here.  Also, there's some nice photos of Santa's visit here.
Since the start of the all stars programme, the plaudits from parents of the all starts have flowed in.  Here's two examples of recent feedback
"just wanted to say such a big thank you to you and all the gang that come out every Friday evening. Cillian has a ball every week, it means so much to us! Merry Christmas and see you in the new year"
"just wanted to say thanks so much again for everything, this evening was so lovely, such a huge effort was made and we really appreciate it, Jacob loved the tent and had a great time, thanks again"

Champo Watch

Two down, 1 left. Let's see how Champo did last week.

Adult Camogie

The U18 camogie team lost their final game of the group stages. With 1 win from 3, I'm afraid this isn't enough to see them past the group stages so that's the end of their run. At least I think it is. When I checked earlier with the Camogie management, they said "If anyone mentions doing a shield in December, they are getting a box. I don't think there's a shield in Division 1". Hard luck to the minor girls. I'm told they attacked this competition with great attitude.
The U20 Camogie Team still look forward to the Div 2 final against Good Counsel. that's now been fixed and is on in Abottstown, next Tuesday, 14th December at 8pm.  Can I get a "brrr" ? If you can make it, let's get out for the last game of the season!

Adult Men
A tough final for the U21 Hurlers, who were defeated on a scoreline of 0-18 to 0-14 against Ballyboden. Many thanks to the big support.

Right folks, we've got through Storm Barra. We've had weeks of championship.  Who's for a last hurrah!
Naomh Uinsionn Abú ! 🔵⚪️🔵⚪️🔵⚪️

If you're looking for where and when a game is on remember, fixtures are published on the club website.

And finally..

This has to be my favourite of the snaps from last week's all stars. I dunno if it is the fact that Santa is mucking in, or the fact that young Joe looks like a certain star is shining right nown on him! It's a festive treat for the eyes.
