Well, here's a couple of things you could get involved in
Your Club Update
January 8, 2020

Happy New Year Decade!

Yes. Not just a new year, but so begins a new decade. Games have not spun up in earnest just yet, but I've a few things to share with you including the chance to get involved. How about some walking, or boxing, or travelling to support the junior hurlers?
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

"Boxing at Vins" - First Training Session Next Monday

A super response to our "Boxing at Vins" call. We had a meeting with boxers just last night, and we're happy to say the numbers are looking good. We've still room for a few female boxers, so ladies if you fancy thumping the lard out of Sharon from accounts a fun way to get fit and support your club, drop me a note and I'll put you in touch with the organisers. Also: Boxers will need promoters/agents so there's more than one way to get involved!

This week's Lotto

Lotto Draw 6th January 2020
Jackpot was €2,050, and numbers drawn were:
 16, 07, 13, 06
There was no Jackpot winner and no online winner. Weekly winner was Justin Carberry. Next week's Jackpot will be €2,200.
Note: We're doing a little revamp of the lotto, so we'll have a new way to buy online soon. I'll post the link as soon as I can.

Operation Transformation 2020 - Let's get walking!

The club are getting behind RTÉs Operation Transformaiton "Ireland Lights Up" campaign. The idea is to get people out for a walk together for health reasons. So, why not come along and join us? The first walk leaves St Vincents at 7:00pm on Monday 13th January, and all are welcome.
Please note: This is open all, and we'd love to encourage people from our surrounding areas to come along and join us. There is no charge for this; this is simply a chance for neighbours to enjoy getting exercise together. So ask your non-vinnies friends to come along! More details are available on the club website.

New membership system for next season

The club will be using a new system for both membership management and communications for next year. The system is provided by ClubZap. This includes a mobile app which can be used by everyone to manage their membership, and recieve information on individual teams, etc. The ClubZap app is available for iPhone in the App store or Android in the Google Play Store. Hopefully, you'll have received a renewal link from Club Zap.

2020 Memberships are now open for renewal

Membership renewal has been opened up and you can pay your membership online through ClubZap. Pricing and payment page available here.

Another chance to support our Junior Hurlers

Many thanks to those who travelled to Killeedy GAA, Limerick to support our Junior Hurlers who contested the Junior B Leinster Hurling Final against Loughrey of Galway.
Those who did make the journey were treated to a cracking and tight game of hurling. There really was very little between the two sides; being equal on 6 points apiece at half time.
In the second half, we obtained the lead through a goal, and pipoint accuracy of Shane Kiernan on the frees, but Loughrey managed a rally, and got back into the game. Deep into extra time we were 1 point ahead, but the ref awarded a free to Loughrey, which they duly dispatched. The game ended 1-10 to 0-13, and as it was a provincial final, the rules demand a replay.
I'd say both sets of supporters would have been happy with extra time, but I'm not sure I can speak for the both sets of players - they had given their all.
So, now we have to do it all again this weekend. The replay is down for Sunday 12th January at 2:30pm in Killeedy GAA, Limerick. (Here's their Facebook event). Once again we're running a supporters bus, but I warn you: Seats are limited. You can book online here.
Many thanks to member Terry Finn, who came down and photographed the match, and a special thanks to Killeedy GAA - They put on a lovely spread of sandwiches.  The fact that the club has a pub as their nextdoor neighbour is not to shabby either!

All Ireland Camogie Semi Final - Fixture Details

The Camogie association have issued details of our next big Camogie game. Our Senior 1 Camogie team contest the All Ireland Senior Camogie Club Championship Semi Final.  Details supplied are:
"AIB All Ireland Senior Club Championship Semi-Final;
Sunday 26th Jan 2020
Sarsfieldsl (Galway) V St. Vincents (Dublin)
Venue: Nenagh Éire Óg, Co. Tipperary
Time: 2pm
Referee: TBC
Extra time if necessary
"
So now we have full details. We know the oposition, the date and the venue. We'll be putting on a supporters bus for that game, if there's demand for it (do let me know!).  This is a massive game, and we need to get out in big numbers to support our girls! The prize here is massive: A place in the All-Ireland Club Final.
I'll set up an event on Facebook, etc. soon and continue to remind you in weekly notes.

Ah jayney. I've fond memories of my father's favourite dad joke any time we passed through Nenagh: "Oh, this is where they make the sirens for the ambulances", he's mention in passing. "Here?" we'd reply, "Yes", he'd say "Nee-Naaagh Neee Naaaagh".

Are you a recent "drifter" ?

Did you or one of your family used to play for Vincents? As we start to consider the new season, we're looking to reach out to anyone who's drifted away in recent times. We know how it feels, the longer you leave it, the more it may feel like it is difficult to return. But we want you back! We're always looking to add numbers to our teams, and we welcome newcomers, and people who've drifted away alike. If you know anyone who needs a nudge, please let them know they'd be welcome back. If you want to return, drop me a mail, and i'll make sure the correct mentor gets in touch.

This Weekend's Fixtures

The club leagues haven't started back yet, so there's no games this weekend. I expect it'll be another couple of weeks before we'll have games to talk about.

And finally..

Willie Lowry was the well deserved recipient of the "Man of the Match" at last week's Junior B Hurling Final. His acceptance speech will be remembered for his wisecrack :
