Adults are coming back too!

After a successful return of our juvenile squads, we can finally announce a return to training for Adult teams too. Phew. That was a long time coming. Details on return to play for Adults below.
As always, keep an eye on social channels (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook)
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Return to Play for Adults

Return to play for adults commences next Monday, May 10th.  Of course, it remains under strict return-to-play protocols.  This means training in pods of 15 (including coaches) and non-contact only.
No games for now. Games are expected to return June 7, at all levels, but will remain "behind closed doors",
Additional Notes for Mentors
We need to set up all of the teams in Foireann, so that your players can fill out their covid-19 health declarations. If you are a mentor in possession of a team list - please let me know by dropping me a note. Adding indivduals to teams is a time-consuming affair, so the sooner I have the team lists, the sooner I can create your team and you can ensure the foireann portal is working for everyone.  Many thanks to the Adult Camogie Section - All your teams are set up.
Ideally, I need the team list, a list of coaches and a list of covid supervisors.
Once your team is set up, you'll need to create events for your training sessions in Foireann - This will allow team members to RSVP to training. It also provides a single place for Covid Supervisors to mark members as present or absent, which is necessary for contact tracing.

Additional Notes for Adult Players
Players remember that filling out your covid 19 declarations on the day of training is necessary to be admitted to training. Please and thank you.

MIE And Ard Scoil Pitches
All players are reminded:
Ard Scoil's new pitch has not been opened and is not to be used until we have been given the go-ahead by the school.
MIE is private property, and use of the pitches is strictly limited to pre-arranged training slots only. We must continue to respect the fact that MIE have been operating remote-only for their students for some months now. It's simply not fair to rock up for a kickabout, when their own students are prevented this luxury.

Now. Let's get ready for some games, eh?

And, for everyone:

A reminder: The GAA Leaning portal has a good course onCovid-19 return to play guidelines. I recommend anyone who hasn't done it in a year to take it.  It doesn't take that long. The link for the training is here.

A few important points.  These apply to Mentors, Players and Parents/Guardians.
  • Dogs are not permitted on the grounds of the club, nor on the grounds of MIE. Training may be an ideal time to walk the dog, but we have to request you take them out of the club.
  • Sidelines are out we're afraid. Our guidelines allow for non contact training in pods of 15. We request that you drop and leave, or if you want to wait around, please do so in your car. Please do not congregate in the car park with other parents.
  • Players: If you're bringing a bicycle, please park it in provided racks, and keep them off playing surface - no bicycles should be left in MIE.
  • Get in, train, get out. Arriving early would be great in any other time, but for now, it will lead to congregation - please don't arrive too early for your session. This applies to mentors too
  • Mentors: We know you like to plan sessions, but if you are doing so, please continue to observe social distancing.
  • Warm ups: Warm ups should be done in pods, not all together.

Not one, but two Darkness into Light Fundraisers

Two squads have independently decided to do some Darkness into Light fundraisers this weekend. Why not pick one of these and give them a donation? if you know anyone on either squad, I'm sure they'll appreciate it. If you don't know anyone, pick one!
The U14 squad are taking part in 'Darkness Into Light' at Sunrise on May 8th, by doing a socially distanced 10km walk.
They've a goal of raising €1,000 and have already made a nice dent in that.  The donation link is here

The Junior footballers are taking a novel approach to their fundraiser. Each of the team members will be running, jogging or walking at all times throughout the 24 hour period. All funds raised will go towards Pieta House. The fundraiser page is here.

Each person will complete their leg of the relay in their own areas and in line with the current government guidelines

Mini Leagues Is Back!

Mini leagues came back last weekend.  If you have a child aged 5-7 and woud like to join, simply show up before 10:30 am at the club on Saturday morning. One of our mentors will take it from there.  As with other teams, full covid19 procedures in place.  Parents, we'd bring your attention to the following:
1. Please refresh your online learning, if you haven't already.
2. You will need to fill in a health declaration for your child at https://www.foireann.ie.

If you are filling in Foireann.ie for the first time:
1. Sign up to the system.
2. Add "St Vincents GAA" as your club
3. Create your family in the "family" section of foireann.
4. Make a covid declaration - choose you team as "Girls Mini Leagues 2021" or "Boys Mini Leagues 2021".  If you need help on this, here's a useful article.

It's Membership Renewal Time

With return to play, and even dates for games, we need to ensure everyone is registered with the GAA, LGFA and Camogie Assocation; In order to do this, we need all memberships in!  You can renew your membership at this link.
Thank you to all who have renewed to date.  We've seen a good uptick in people sorting memberships since we've returned.

And finally..

Not GAA related, but a sporting nugget.  Well done to Ireland's 2nd (3rd?) soccer goalkeeper, Mark Travers. Not often you get to have a game with a "Roy of the Rovers" performance.
