I'll announce the actual date once I now.  All tickets purchased are good for the rescheduled night. If you booked a ticket and now cannot make the new date, get in touch for a refund.

More Féile

A big shout out to the U15 Camogie team who won their Division 3 Féile last weekend. Their semi-final is being talked about as the stuff of legend; A need to dig deep, and finding that extra gear when they needed it. At half time they were down by 9 points, but a second half performance saw them produce 3-1 to their opposition's 0 points, taking the semi by a single point.
They were victorious in the final against Whitehall Colmcille in a tight encounter (3-6 to 3-3) and are Division 3 Féile Champions!
The girls showed up at the Aoife McGrane tournament to inspire the younger players.
Also: thanks to St Finians for great hosting.

May-Day Tournaments - Big Success

This years Paddy Donnelly and Aoife McGrane-King tournaments were a resounding success.  Last weekend saw us host the largest ever turnout for these competitions with over 300 children taking part. The Aoife McGrane-King tournament saw separate competitions for U8-U9 and U10-U12; Two cracking finals were played out on PNU2.

The boys stuck to the "fully mixed" version of the competiiton with teams consisting of players from U8 to U12. Two amazing semi-finals (including one going to extra time), and a nail-biter of a final saw the winners capture the trophy in the last puck of the game.  Well done to Games Directors, Mentors, Referees and players for a grreat day out.

The event also hosted a bake sale in aid of next year's Féile team, including Tea/Coffee and Ice Cream, and a well stocked cake table. I did my bit for the U14s by sampling the wares, and I can confirm they were delicious.  There was a queue all day, and when I ran into the U14 management team after they were grinning like cheshire cats.  One can only assume that the cake sale was a success.

Thanks Emma!

A presentation was held for outgoing GPO Emma Byrne on Saturday morning. Emma was presented with a montage of imagesof her great work over her 6 years with the club, and a silver ref's whistle.
She's pictured below at mini leagues with former Juvenile Games Director Tony O'Connell and Chairperson Una Barrett.
Every the professional, Emma was also on hand on Monday for the big juvenile tournaments, and was one of the last people to leave the club!
We'll miss Emma terribly - And wish her all the best in her new role.

The GAA National Club Draw - Tickets at the bar

The GAA run a national club draw each year.  It's an interesting fund raiser for the club.  Here's why:
  1. Tickets are just €10.
  2. The prizes are good! The top prize is a car.
  3. All money raised by the sale of tickets remains with the club.
  4. There's also prizes on offer for the club too.
Tickets are available in the club bar; But we recognise that some people cannot get up to the club bar, so we've devised a plan for those who'd like to purchase a ticket online:
For those who want to - you can purchase a ticket online here.
When you make a purchase, we'll fill out a physical ticket on your behalf and enter it into the draw.
We'll keep your stub for safe keeping in the club office.

Summer Disco!

A reminder that the ladies football section are running a summer disco in the club main hall with DJ Phil Cawley on Saturday May 28th.  Tickets are just €15.

Interestingly, I was asked over the weekend if this was aimed at "young" people or "old" people.  My reminiscing of school discos of the 1980s may have confused some in last week's notes, so to be clear - this one is open to all, and will cater for all adults regardless of age. Phil Cawley is a well-known radio DJ and will play hits from (I'm guessing) anywhere from the 1960s to the 2020s.

I was also asked if there'd be the chance of getting a shift.  I guess that's up to yourselves. I'm bringing the missus.  So that'd be a no for me, then. Talk about re-living my youth, wha?

Tickets are now on sale at https://vins.ie/disco. All proceeds are going to fund our ladies football section.

This weekend's action

A busy enough weekend coming up. Thursday sees 3 Camogie fixtures down - The Inter 1s are away to Naomh Padraig, the Inter 2s are home to Kilmacud (PNU2, throw in at 7:30pm) and the Junior Camogs play Faughs in MIE.

Saturday sees the senior footballers take on Ballymun away; Throw in is at 6:30 (Pairc Ciceam)

The Inter footballers play Cuala at home at the same time (Saturday 6:30pm, PNU1).

Buoyed up by a good win over Ballyboden (2-17 to 0-11), the Senior Camogie end their Senior 1 Cup campaign next Tuesday when they face Na Fianna away. A win will see them take the league. That's reason alone to support them, I'd wager!
Throw in is 7:30pm in Mobhi Road.
