Club Notes, 4th November 2020

Another month, we're holding it together

Every 4th or 5th week I sit down to write the notes, and a new month has come around. It always kinda takes me by surprise. "November?" I ask myself "Already?". Indeed.
By my reckoning, by November I'm typically, holding out for whoever is still in championship action, and in somewhat wind-down mode. There may be a minor Camogie competition starting, or the U21s doing their thing, and we'd be looking forward to encouraging the Jackie Gilroy tournament. Instead, there's no games, and the intercounty championships, behind closed doors are heating up. This year is truly upside down.
If there's anything of note, I'll publish on our social channels Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Lotto

Lotto draw 2 November 2020. Jackpot was €5,050 and there was no jackpot winner. Weekly winner was David Doyle.
Next week's jackpot is €5,200. Remember you can purchase Lotto Subscriptions here. Five Two. Not bad. Wouldn't mind a bit of that meself.

Remember - AGM Attendance requires registration

Official notice of the club AGM was issued by our Runaí, Anne Harrington. The notice can be downloaded here. Due to restrictions on gatherings, the AGM will be held online.  To facilitate this, if you'd like to attend, please register your interest at this link. Details on how to access the meeting will be issued a day or two before the event.

Inter-county action last weekend

Hard luck to Dublin Hurlers last weekend. A valiant effort against Kilkenny where they closed a 16 point gap and got it down to just one, but the Cats held on. Well done Conor and Riain. The Dubs now take on Cork this weekend in Semple stadium in order to stay in the All-Ireland campaign. We haven't been victorious over Cork in the hurling championship since 1927 (!). Dublin v Cork in the hurling still hurts from that semi-final encounter in 2013. We wish the hurlers all the best this weekend. It's on Sky Sports Mix; throw in is 3:45pm.
Meanwhile the footballers played out a 2-15 to 0-15 win in their final game of the Division 1 Allianz League. It wasn't enough to win the league; Kerry took it by 1 point. We now look forward to the beginning of the Leinster Championship. Dublin take on Westmeath. This game is also on Saturday, also on Sky Sports Mix with throw in at 6:15pm.
I have to admit, I'm feeling less smug about cutitng my Sky subscription then I was a few weeks back! Sky sports mix is available to anyone with any Sky package - you don't need a sports subscription to catch these games.
The ladies footballers were victorious in their championship clash against Donegal last weekend (Dublin 2-13, Donegal 2-10. They go on to take on Waterford this Saturday. You can catch that live on the LGFA facebook page; Coverage starts at 1pm. Shout out to our Senior Camogie player, Niamh Hetherton, who is once again on the football panel for 2020.
Unfortunately, its the end of the road for the Dublin Camogie team who were defeated on a scoreline of 1-18 to 1-6 against Clare last weekend. Hard luck to Dee, Grainne, Muireann, Ali, Aisling  and Ellen.

Congratulations Eamon

Congratulations to Eamon Fennell on completion of his masters. Eamon has just got his results that he'll be graduating with First Class Honours from his MSc in Business from the Dublin Smurfit Business School. When we can get together again, I suspect there's a talk in there for Juvenile Boys and Girls on the power of working hard both on and off the pitch!

Ever consider mentoring?

Each year, as we get towards the end of the season, we always end up with a number of mentor and manager places to fill; This occurs at juvenile and adult teams, for both boys and girls.  Filling these positions is often left to games directors to ask individuals if they would consider a role. So, how about we turn this around for once?
Maybe you've finished playing in the last couple of years and are missing those days. Or perhaps, you coached at juvenile and hadn't considered taking an adult team? Maybe you haven't thought about it in in many years.  Well, now is your time! If you think you'd like to help out with a team drop me a mail and I'll ensure that the correct games director gets in touch to discuss options.

And finally..

While we may be socially distanced, and training in pods, we're not letting it get us down. The mini leagues were delighted to have a special (St Vincents blue!) guest at mini leagues last weekend
