| | Inter-County Representation |
| It's getting slightly quieter on the Intercounty front, but let's keep getting behind our Vins players who are lining out for the county. Well done to Conor Burke, who played in the Dublin Senior Hurling Leinster championship win over Westmeath (2-23 to 1-14). Their next game is against Wexford this Saturday in Croke Park (Throw in at 5pm). Hard luck to Rónán O'Neill, Harry Curley and Ryan Murphy who were named in the Dublin squad for their bank holiday clash with Galway in the Leinster Minor Hurling championship semi-final. A tough encounter ended Dublin 0-13, Galway 3-22. I'm afraid I don't know the structure of the minor championships, but I would suspect this is the end of the line for the Dublin Minor Hurlers. I'm sure someone will correct this if I'm wrong. Regardless: The guys have had a great run of wins and represented Vins proudly. Well done lads. A good result last weekend for the Senior Dublin Camogie Team, with Aisling Maher and Muireann Kelliher flying the Vins flag. A win on a scoreline of 2-13 to 1-14 sees Dublin through to the Leinster Semi-Final. You can read a match report here. The semi-final against Meath will take place this Saturday in Trim GAA, with a throw-in at 2 pm. (Details here) Congratulations also to Eimear Adamson who was named in the squad for the Dublin Minor Ladies Football team for their encounter this evening against Laois in the Leinster Minor Football “B” Championship. Dublin had a convincing win (5-11 to 1-13); They'll next meet Wicklow on May 17th. Well done to Caitlin McKenna and Meabh Cotter who had a great result for the u16 Dublin Development Team in the Shield Final. They won by 1-7 to 1-6 v’s a very tough and determined Kilkenny team. Maebh was very solid in a very good full-back line and Caitlin provided plenty of firepower with 1-2 of the 1-7 total. Proud day for Shane Cotter and the Mentors to turn around a heavy defeat against the same opposition in the Group Stages |

Congratulations to the winners and once again, thanks to everyone who took part. |
| May Bank Holiday Tournaments - Fantastic day out |
| There was a great buzz around PNU last Monday as the Aoife McGrane-King Camogie Tournament and the Paddy Donnelly Hurling Tournament were held. We were blessed with fine weather and hosted 4 tournaments throughout the afternoon. The day began with our All-Stars being awarded their unique Vincents jerseys |
| | The tournaments were played by mixed teams (U8, U9 and U10,U11,U12), and the levels of skill on display were amazing. We also have members of both the McGrane-King and Donnelly families on hand to give out medals to the winners. The day had a great festival atmosphere with a BBQ, Farrell Hurles, and the U14 team running a cake sale to raise funds for next year's Féile. We've uploaded a number of pictures from the day over on Facebook. |
| Upcoming Camogie Referee Courses |
| Members, please note that two Camogie referee courses are coming up soon. If you'd like to be a referee have a look at these: U13-U16 camogie refereeing Foundation Level - covers reffing up to age 16 (specifically U13 to U16) but can do go games also. This Saturday, 6th May 2021 from 11 am to 3 pm in the National Games Development Centre, Abbotstown. Participants must be 18 or older (although if turning 18 in the next couple of months that would be okay). This is particularly suited to those who have already been reffing at go game level in either camogie or hurling. e.g. hurling refs who wish to convert to camogie reffing and/or recently retired players (female and male). However, participants do not have to have completed a go-games course. Plenty of reffing available :). Here is a registration form for participants to complete prior to the course. Go Games - U8 to U12 First Whistle Go Games reffing course - covers reffing up to age 12 (u8, u9, u10, u11, u12). This is an online course lasting approximately 2 hours from 7.30 to 9.30 on Monday, 15th May on Zoom (online). Anyone who is 15 years or older can do this course. Note the details say that participants must be 16 but I'm reliably informed that they can be 15 and over. If you are interested in completing the course, please register on the link here: Anyone with any questions can contact the St Vincents Referee Coordinator - Máiréad McCarthy @ 087 1334868. |
| | How did last weekend go? Let's see shall we? Adult Football A disappointing week so far on the football front. Tonight saw both our Senior and Intermediate teams in AFL action. Our Intermediate team were well beaten in AFL4 by St Patricks Palmerstown. The seniors suffered a 4 point defeat to St Judes (0-11 to 0-7). Our Junior A team lined out last night, and suffered a narrow 1 point defeat to Stars of Erin (3-7 to 2-9) Minor A good three for three in the Minor Football: MFL2: A win over St Patricks, Donabate (3-11 to 2-8). Our MFL5N team played out a thrilling 1 point win over Cu Chulainn (1-10 to 2-8), and our MFL6N team had a good win over Beann Eadair (2-7 to 2-12) Hurling A big test for the Hurlers last weekend when they welcomed Kilmacud Crokes to PNU1. Crokes started out well and were scoring from various locations. At the break, we were 5 points down. The second half saw Vins come out with renewed hunger and were a different team. We out-scored the visitors by 10 points to 4 in the second half, ending the game on 2-12 to 0-17. A fantastic win, and a great spectacle to boot too. Camogie Mixed fate for the Camog's this week. A good win for the Senior 1s over Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh (2-15 to 0-10), but a big defeat to Good Counsel for Senior 2. Ladies Football Both of our Ladies' adult teams took on St Sylvesters this week: Our A team had a good win (1-14 to 1-6), and our B team played out a draw (2-10 to 3-7). |
| | | This weekend is the final weekend of the U15 boys Football Féile Competition. We wish our U15 boys all the best this coming Sunday (7th May) as they contest: The Division 1 Shield Final, at home against St Sylvesters (throw in 11:30 am on PNU2) The Division 9 Final, away to Lucan Sarsfields (12th Lock), also throwing in at 11:30 am. Folks, for a U15 player, it doesn't get bigger than Féile; If you had to pick a single game this weekend, I'd implore you to go out and support a Féile team. The lift from the crowd genuinely helps. Good luck to the U15s: Do your best lads! |
| This weekend's adult games |
| Despite midweek football taking place, the weekend remains a Football one for the adult men. The big game is the AFL1 away clash with Ballymun Kichkams. That throws in at 6:30 pm on Saturday night (6th May) in Pairc Ciceam. |
| | Next Tuesday sees the Senior Camogie take on Ballinteer St Johns in Round 8 of the league. That's the 9th May, at home with a throw-in at 7:30pm. |
| | and, as always don't forget to head over to the club's fixtures page; Plenty of good games this weekend to get out an support. |
