Club Notes, 30th March 2022

Good show for various club events

Last week saw a couple of big club events occur; All well attended, with expectectations being far exceeded.  If you took part last week, well done and thanks! Less happening this week, but if you want to predict a score and support the Inter2 camogie team, there's a little competition in here this week for you.

As always, keep an eye on social channels (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook)
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Lotto

Lotto draw 28/03/2022.  Prize pot was €7,000. Numbers drawn were
18, 22, 17, 12
There was no jackpot winner.  Weekly winner of €100 was Tony Diamond.  Next week's lotto prize will be €7,150.

Seven Grand? Imagine the holiday for that? Maybe 7k would get you a nice patio. I'd say you'd get the kitchen facelifted for that. What about a fancy motorbike?

Walk for Ukraine: Super Turnout

A great turnout for the "Walk for Ukraine" last Saturday. Thanks to everyone who came along, and well done to those who made their own posters for the walk, and a big thanks to our cake sale team. A big highlight was some recently-arrived families from Ukraine who are being housed nearby came down to join the walk. They were also treated to a trip to the beach, where they were given a lesson in pucking a ball!  Also big donations coming in on the online donation form.
We'll keep the donation form open until Friday - so if you want to donate please do! Remember that Circle-K have agreed to match any funding we raise, and all monies will be donated to the Irish Red Cross's Ukraine appeal.

Busy Friday!

Thanks to everyone who attended the Senior Footballer's fundraising lunch last Friday; A special shout out to those who showed restraint so they could also attend Mickey Whelan's book launch.  Alas, I was out of action myself so couldn't attend but all accounts that have made it back to me say both were great events.

LGFA - Upcoming Webinars

The LGFA are running a set of webinars - They've webinars for match officials, club officers, coaches, players and more. If you're involved with a ladies gaelic team, I recommend you check out their page on upcoming webinars.

Allianz League Hurling Final - Guess the score, and support the Inter 2 Camogie Team

The Inter2 Camogie team are running a fundraising "Guess the score" prediction competition.  It's just €2 to enter (or €5 gets you 3 guesses).  First prize is €100 for whoever is closest (or by a draw if nobody guesses right).  You can enter at this link.

Well done, U14 Girls!

A shout out to the U14 girls who are still on a high from their win over Scoil Ui Chonail.  I'm told this encounter last year ended in a draw, so there's proof of a team who are improving.  While it was a great team achievement, Martha Crossan gets a call out for being a scoring machine at this game!

And the minor ladies!
Well done minor As who had a good win against Kilmacud Crokes in their Division 1 clash last Monday.

This weekend's action

By my rekoning we've 35 games between Saturday and Sunday this weekend, so plenty to get out to support  see the fixtures page for the full list. PNU1, PNU2, MIE, and ASR all very busy this weekend, not to mention the away fixtures.
Adult Men
Now there's a stretch in the evening, the Senior Football fixtures move to Saturday at 6pm.  Far more civilised if you ask me, and you can always drop by the bar after to analyse the game.  It's a football weekend, and our lads take on St Maur's.

At the same time, 6pm on Saturday, the Inter footballers are away to Man O'War; The two junior teams are away on Sunday see the fixtures page for details.

Minor Lads
If you're looking for some hard-core hurling, you could do worse than heading to Mobhi Road at 11:00 on Sunday morning (3 April) when the U19 lads take on Na Fianna.  This is a Division 1 clash. This could be the pick of the games this weekend! The U17 lads are away to Kilmacud on Sunday; Throw in is 1:30pm in Silver park.

And finally..

The need for women role models in sport cannot be understated, so it's great to see that 5 time all-Ireland Ladies Football winner Lyndsey Davey was on the panel at the Senior Footballer's fundaising lunch last week. Our Ladies Footballers were there to support the fundraiser, and Lyndsey was very generous with her time meeting the girls and posing for photos. Lyndsey spent plenty of time, offering advice and chatting with the team about their ambitions both on and off the field. Thanks to Lyndsey for her genorisity, and to the ladies team for supporting the event.
