The activity in my house this week was all about return to school. It's the 30th of August already, and last summer was a definite blink of an eye. I'm sure the summer hurlers picked up some memories, as did our lads and lasses in the gaeltachts, and those who helped out with summer camps. We hope our leaving certers got the results they wanted, and for those who awaited CAO offers this week that you're happy. We also wish any junior certers all the best as the wait for results continues. But enough of the reminiscing already. End of summer means focus. It's championship time after all. Dig in this week, find a game to support, don your blue and white, and we'll catch you on a sideline. |

Pitch Side Advertising - Send us a referral, earn money for your team |
| | A separate e-mail was sent out yesterday about the availability of pitch-side advertising on PNU1. If you missed it it can be read here. Mentors and players: There's an opportunity here to earn a few quid for your team: If you send us details of a person who may be interested in purchasing pitch side advertising; we'll give you €50 after they agree to advertise. How does this work? - If you know someone who may take out a pitch-side advertisement, fill out their details at this link. Be sure to mention your team name in the form.
- We'll do the rest. We'll follow up with the contact and provide them with all the details; if they take out an advertisement, we'll pay €50 directly to your team.
Juvenile players; Maybe your parent's place of work may be interested? Let us know, but please ask the person for permission to share their contact details before filling in the form. Want to know more? We have a presentation which explains the offer here. We also have a 2 page "convince your boss" document that you can download at this link. |
| | Parents: Did you spend this week running around sorting uniforms, books etc.? Was it a hectic week? Well, they not take a load off and get out and enjoy yourself in the club this Saturday? We'll have DJ Brian Paige in da house the bar playing hits from the 1960s through to today. There's no cover charge and it runs from 8 pm 'til late. Would love to see a good turnout for this |
| | Club Gear Ordering Portal - Just a couple of days left |
| | A reminder that the club gear ordering portal is open for a couple more days. Some nice training and leisure wear in there. Gwan. Treat yourself to a new hoodie |
| | Griffith Avenue Mile - Almost 300 Vins Folk are In! |
| | We've had a message from the organising committee for the Griffith Avenue Mile. They say: "..we’ve had great engagement from St Vincents GAA teams for our event. In fact, the 7 teams below are all signed up, representing nearly 300 participants in the race. It will be great to see all the St Vincents colours on the avenue on Sept 17th. - St Vincents All Stars
- St. Vincents GAA Club 2009 U14 Boys
- St Vincent’s 2014 Boys' team
- St. Vincents GAA Club 2008 Boys "A"
- St. Vincents GAA Club U14 Girls
- St Vincents 2015 Girls
- St Vincents GAA 2012 Girls
I would like to get a reminder out to all the teams that might still have an interest and just be getting around to thinking about the new season ahead. We welcome individual and family bookings via the website and group enquiries & bookings via email. We will continue to offer a small discount to any teams booking in groups." Personally, I'm super impressed by our entries so far - Mentors: If your team is not taking part, why not encourage them? |
| A meeting of "the stalwarts" - This Saturday |
| The Vincents Stalwarts will be back meeting this weekend. This is a meet-up in the club on a Saturday morning for our mature members. Drop by for a cup of tea and a biscuit. They'll be there from 11:00 am and will continue each first Saturday of the month. |

Camogie Next Generation Coaching Academy - Update |
| We congratulate the organisers of the next-generation coaching academy set up in the club earlier this year. As a reminder: This is a dedicated programme to put in place a coaching pathway to build a sustainable model for Camogie coaching. The coaches are now entering phase 3 of the plan, which sees the coaches embedded into teams of all age groups where they will teach specific skills or strategies to the players and their fellow mentors. Well done/best of luck to: - Eimear Brannigan and Amanda O'Reilly, who worked with the U10s on Game-based skills.
- Danielle Smith and Ali Maguire, who are working with the Minors on attacking strategies
- Orla Doherty and Kathryn Kantounia who will share their knowledge on defensive strategies with both the U14s and the Intermediates
- Caoimhe Walshe and Hannah Devlin who are also going to help the U10s with game-based strategies,
- Ciara O'Leary and Caoimhe Walshe who'll be working with the U11s, and
- Dee Johnstone who will be working with the U13s.
Bualadh bos to all; it's great to see so many adult players giving back! |
| Champo Watch: Last Weekend |
| Let's start with the most recent championship result, which was from tonight. Our Ladies A team drew with Na Fianna in their championship with both sides scoring 2-9. This wasn't enough to get them out of the group, so they are now in a Shield competition. They play Foxrock/Cabinteely next Wednesday (6th September) at home at 6:30 pm. Our minor A ladies team just pipped Garda/Westmanstown on Monday, winning by 1; Final score was 2-5 (11) to 1-9 (12). Our Minor B ladies team won well over Finagallians. This time last week also saw our Ladies A team in action - they had a big win over Castleknock Camogie: Our Senior Camogie opened their championship last weekend, coming away with a draw from Lucan Sarsfields. 0-13 a piece was the final score there. The Intermediate Camogie won well over Raheny (1-8 to 1-15) and the Juniors also recorded a win (2-12 to 3-13) against Naomh Maur.
Hard luck to the minor camógs, who lost by 2 to Clontarf (2-9 to 2-7) Our U16s had a good outing, beating Faughs/Celtic 1-17 to 3-3. Their management dropped me a note saying "..the u16 Camogie Girls made their Div 2 Championship debut on Friday evening, with an impressive win over Faughs, on a score line of 1-17 to 3-3. With strong performances from Hannah Murphy, Caitlin McKenna, Ruth Cosgrave, Aobha O’Brien, Rachel McAleese & Holly Shields. A good start is half the battle and they face their next challenge at St.Jude’s in good shape!" Adult Men: A tough day at the office for the Senior Footballers, who were defeated 4-11 to 0-11 against St Judes in the Senior 1 championship. The intermediates, racked up an impressive win over St Brigids, outscoring them 2-6 to just 0-3 points. Both Junior teams fared well: The Junior A beat Ballyboden by 1 point (1-9 to 0-13), while the Junior B recorded a 2 point win over Ballyboughal, despite ending the game with 12 apostles men on the pitch (!) |

Champo Watch: What's in store this weekend? |
| For the adult men, this is a hurling weekend. The seniors have their next group game against St Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh on Friday evening in Parnell Park, throwing in at 7:30 pm. Remember that these are ticketed games, and tickets should be purchased in advance from this link . If you cannot make it, the game will be live-streamed here. In the past few weeks I've had a number of people ask if they can pay cash at the gate. Officially, I believe the answer is no, but I've also heard a rumour that they are accepting cash. I can't promise you, but I'd say worth rocking up if cash is your thing. |
| | The intermediates welcome St Maurs to PNU1 on Saturday at 6:00pm for their championship game, and the two Junior Squads play their games on Sunday: Our Junior A travel to Clonshaugh to play Craobh Chiarain at 11:00 am on Sunday The Junior B are also on the road, heading to Ballymun to play Setanta; That's on at 3:00 pm on Sunday. This weekend also sees another group opening their championship campaigns: The minor lads have a football weekend. Good luck to Minor A who welcome Cuala to PNU1 at 11:00 am on Sunday morning Minor B who welcome Garda/Westmanstown Gaels to PNU2 also at 11:00 on Sunday morning. Minor C who take on St Maurs, with a game in St Davids at 11:00 on Sunday morning. Folks: Worth calling out - this is another year where the club is fielding 3 Minor teams. This is no mean feat and a testament to the work at juvenile to keep lads interested. Well done mentors! There's no Camogie championship this weekend. Our Minor Ladies Footballers are back in action on Monday night : Our A team are at home to Cuala; This throws in at 6:45 pm on Monday Our B team travel to Robert Emmets, which is also at 6:45 pm on Monday |
