Club Notes, 19 May 2021

Another positive forward step

Today sees an update from GAA HQ which covers attendance at games.  A positive move for sure. Here's hoping that before long, we'll be looking back with all this behind us.  Updates from the county board on CCC2 fixtures too, and HQ have issued this year's guidelines including rules. So, lots to cover. Let's get cracking.
As always, keep an eye on social channels (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook)
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Covid Update, 2nd June

The GAA Issued their updated guidelines for Clubs and Counties in the 26 counties this afternoon.  Best you read it from the horses mouth, but just for you, I'll give you some hot takes.
  • From next week, 7th June. 100 spectators can attend a game. Yep, that's in addition to the players/backroom team, so an advance on last year. Parents no longer have to wait in their cars or pretend to attend in a child-protection capacity.  Folks.  We'll get back to you on how we may have to ticket our senior games.
  • Dressing rooms will remain closed. So, arrive in your gear and wam up outdoors, players.
  • Gyms remain out. There is already a rule that allows for use of club gyms by individuals who are representing county.  This remains. Sorry folks, we won't be opening the newly refurbished gym just yet.
  • Bars can serve food and drink outdoors. (check notes, picks up phone to convene emergency exec meeting)

CCC2 Fixtures Released

CCC2, which cover U13 to U16 games have issued their fixture list.  The full list (which includes CCC1 too) can be downloaded from the Dublin GAA Website
Normally there would be some time off in the summer, as families heading off to the sun makes it hard to field teams.  What with covid reducing the playing time available, not to mention curtailing travelling, the county board have opted for quite the crowded calendar. And me with a lad on the U15. Games every Thursday and Sunday? That's my summer in Wexford sliced up good.
On the bright side, lots of games! Yay

Summer sessions launched

Our juvenile section will be running summer skills sessions which take place between July 19th and August 4th. Here's what you need to know:
Fun skills sessions for boys and girls aged 6-16. Limited place fun sessions over two weeks at the end of July to early August
  • The sessions are broken into 4 age groups: (U7, U8, U9/10, and U11/12, U13/14, U15/16)
  • There are 4 sessions for each U7-U12 age group held over 2 weeks.
  • There are 2 advanced sessions for the U13-U16 age group held over 2 days.
  • Each session is 90 minutes long
  •  Sessions can be attended individually (€6 per session)
  •  U7-U2 can book 4 sessions for €20
  •  U13-U16 can book 2 sessions for €10.

I know its a while away. It is of course, subject to goverment guidelines. But I also know that enquiries on this have been coming in thick and fast of late.  With that in mind, why not jump over to the booking page and secure you child's place?

The 2021 Official Guides from the GAA are available online. This is the only way they will be avialable this year.

Part 2, which includes the rules for Football and Hurling can be found here.

Quick: go read part 2 straight away.  Think of the kudos you can get, outdoors sipping a pint explaining the nuances of the advanced mark.

Lotto

Lotto draw 31 May 2021.  Weekly jackpot was €1,300.  Numbers drawn were

22, 18, 8, 15

There was no jackpot winner. Weekly winner who won the €100 quick pick was Anthony Murphy.

Lotto jackpot next week will be €1,450.  Except it won't be next week.  It'll be the week after because we don't do lotto on a bank holiday.

St Vincents Ryder Cup: Save the Date

With restrictions beginning to lift we have provisionally booked a golf outing for this year. This will be held on Friday the 24th of September in Donabate golf club. So put the date in your diary. It will be the same format as last year where two teams, one representing the juvenile section and the other representing the adults section.  We will flesh out details closer to the time. Here's hoping we can even get together after the event.

Problems with Foireann? Just drop me a note

Most of our initial teething problems with Foireann seem to be thinning out, but if you are having any trouble - drop me a note.  There are a couple of common issues which I'm able to solve pretty easily, so don't suffer in silence! If something isn't working as you expect, send me an e-mail with a description of the problem, and I'll see if I can help.

With return to play, and even dates for games, we need to ensure everyone is registered with the GAA, LGFA and Camogie Assocation; In order to do this, we need all memberships in!  You can renew your membership at this link.
Thank you to all who have renewed to date.  We've seen a good uptick in people sorting memberships since we've returned.

And finally..

Ahh.  Bless.  I was sent a note about Vincent's youngest coach.  Charlotte Brennan, who when not lining out for the U8s, has been known to help her mum coach her younger sister's pod in mini-leagues.
Charlotte even drew up a training plan for last week:

Her mum also sent us a photo of Charlotte putting her younger sisters through their paces

Way to go Charlotte.  I sense a certain games promotion officer is quaking in her boots!
