Club Notes, 2nd December 2020

Its the most wonderful time of the year

Ah here. Now I should be talking about a Santa visit in a fire brigade, a big stash of selection boxes and a married versus singles game to work off the Christmas dinner. Of course, I'm afraid not. But chin up, eh? We're out of level 5, and there may be a vaccine around the corner. Could we have normality on the horizon? I sincerely hope so.
A couple of reasons to ask for your help, so read on. Thanks for bearing with me through the last few bleak months.
If there's anything of note, I'll publish on our social channels Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Two Covid Updates

1. On Dec 1, The GAA have issued updated guidelines as the country moves from level 5 to level 3.
2. Today, we issued our own "Frequently Asked Questions" document to answer a number of questions we've received in the last few months, specifically from mentors and covid-supervisors.

Thanks for your clicks!

Last week I asked for likes and shares on a social media campaign from Decathlon. We came in 4th against some stiff competition. That was enough to win use €250 worth of Decathlon Gear for the club. So, all in all not a bad result all around.  Thanks folks!

Limited Sale of Club Playing Gear - This Saturday

Looking for some stocking fillers ? We may be able to help. All socially distanced, naturally.  Jerseys range from €26-€34 (depending on size), Shorts are €12 and Socks ar €6/€7.
Just swing by the car park this Satuday morning (5th December) from 10:00am to 12:00pm.  We ask everyone to please observe social distancing, and to wear a mask.  Card only payments, please.

Inter-county action to look forward to

This weekend is the All-Ireland Football Semi-Final. Who ever thought we'd be saying such a phrase in December? Ahhnway. Dublin take on Cavan in the semi final which is being held in Croke Park. Behind closed doors, natch. Coverage is on RTÉ 2 from 4:45pm, with throw in at 5:30pm.
I see RTÉ allowed the soccer correspondent put up the schedule:

The Ladies Footballers played a cracking tight game against Armagh last weekend. Winning on a scoreline of 3-13 to 3-08, the Jackies have successfully booked their place in this years finals.  They'll take on the winners of Cork vs Galway in their quest for a 4-in-a-row.
Last on the inter-county front: Good news for the U20 team; Their All Ireland decider will now be fixed as the curtain raised for the All Ireland Final. They take on Galway and game will throw in on 19th December at 2:30pm in Croke Park. Here's hoping RTÉ choose to cover this too,.

Christmas Charity Appeal

A reminder that this year's charity partner is Inner City Helping Homeless. Unfortunately we cannot do a donation drive like in previous years so we ask members to consider doing an online donation to the ICHH instead.
Donations can be made direct to ICHH here
Example of what your donation will cover:
  • €15 - will fund outreach support for one rough sleeper
  • €30 - will fund outreach support for two rough sleepers
  • €50 - will fund emergency day service support

Your donations will go a long way, no matter how big or small.

Your Vigilence is required

We've had a number of incidences of dumpng in the club, most recently at the entrance to the club. Members are asked to keep a keen eye out, and to report any incidences of dumping you witness. You gotta wonder about the mentality of someone who dumps in the club. Do they just expect people to clean up after them? Sheesh.

And finally..

Not ones to let the year get on top of them, the 2010 Boys team still printed their christmas card. (Note: Photo was taken last year!). Merry Christmas, 2010 lads!
