Congrats to the Dubs on the big All-Ireland Final win at the weekend. I'm sure the party is still going. It's (almost) the end of the inter-county season, so I know I have to brace myself for following a large number of club championship teams in the coming weeks. We have one team in a final already! (more below). This week's big news is all about our new sponsors, which I am delighted to be able to announce. |

Welcome to our new sponsors |
| I get the honour to announce not 1, but two new sponsors to St Vincents GAA. The sponsors were officially unveiled in a launch in the club last Saturday. without further ado... |
| Adult Section Sponsor: Jones Engineering |
| We are truly grateful to have entered into a 3-year agreement with Jones Engineering to sponsor the Adult Section of St Vincents. Jones Engineering is a large-scale engineering firm with operations in Ireland, the UK, Mainland Europe, the Middle East and South Africa. The company is over 125 years old and though they have global reach, they were eager to retain their links to the community. Speaking at the launch event, Charlie Byrne, Business Development executive with Jones (he himself a former Vins player!), explained why the sponsorship of St Vincents was a good fit: |
| "At Jones Engineering we endeavour to support the communities we operate in particularly through partnerships which make a difference. We are delighted to encourage talent of all ages and genders in a variety of sports." |
| | Pictured are Charlie Byrne of Jones Engineering, Una Barrett - Club Chairperson along with representatives of our Hurling, Football, Ladies Football and Camogie Teams (L-R: Ladies Footballer Elaine Mongan, Hurler John Hetherton, Charlie Bryne, Una Barrett, Camogie Player Ellen McGovern, Footballer Samuel Devlin and Hurler James Mulcahy) |
| Juvenile Section Sponsor: Breedon Group |
| We are also thrilled to be announcing another 3-year sponsorship deal. Breedon Group have come on board to sponsor St Vincents Juvenile section. Breedon group is an AIM-listed British construction materials company headquartered at Breedon on the Hill, Leicestershire, England. They manage over 100 quarries and have operations throughout the United Kingdom and the island of Ireland. Speaking at the launch, Managing Director of Breedon Ireland, Pat Gilroy spoke of Breedon's links to the communities in which they work: |
| "Throughout the UK and Ireland, Breedon sponsors 16 clubs. Our people are our most important assets and we strive to have a positive impact on the communities in which we work. We are delighted to add such a prestigious club, with a rich history to our sponsor roll. We look forward to a mutually beneficial partnership with St Vincents GAA" |

| | Congratulations, Dublin Senior Footballers |
| Cracking win for the Dublin Senior footballers to clinch their 31st All-Ireland Senior Inter-County Football Championship title. The game seemed like a tense affair to me, but stood up to a second watch. On reflection, it was a far better game than I originally thought. The joy on the faces of the team showed how much it meant. Our congratulations to Pat Gilroy who had his own part to play in the campaign. |
| | Mickey Whelan Honoured by the GPA |
| Congratulations to Club President Mickey Whelan who was awarded a lifetime achievement award at the GPA "Legends" lunch last Friday. His acceptance speech bemoaning the current trend of running back with the ball received much applause. The plaudits on our social media have not stopped since we posted about his award and is a testament to just how highly esteemed he is in Gaelic (and teaching) circles. |
| | I did say "Almost finished" |
| Our best wishes go out to the Dublin Senior Ladies Football team who beat Cork last week to book themselves a place in the All-Ireland Final against....yep. Kerry. In contrast to the men, this will be the first time the two counties will meet in a final which takes place on Sunday, August 13th. This game is the final game in a triple-header taking place with the Junior and Intermediate finals providing the curtain raisers. Throw-in for the senior game is at 4 pm. Adult tickets are €30, and U18 tickets are €15; There are also deals to be had on family tickets. Full details of tickets are available at this link. Mentors may note that group rates are available should you wish to bring a team along. NOTE: Group orders must be in by August 4 In particular, we'll be shouting for our own Senior Camogie player Niamh Hetherton, who lines out with the Dublin Footballers. Best of luck, Niamh. |

Congratulations to the ladies' B team - Onwards to the final! |
| | Last week saw our Ladies' B team beat Erin Go Bragh in the Junior I semi-final. This lines them up for a showdown against Thomas Davis in the Final, which is fixed for Wednesday 9th August, with throw-in at 8:30 pm. The game will be held in Lawless Memorial Park - which is Fingallians ground in Swords. Folks: If ever a time where a crowd can lift a game it's this one. Sure, isn't Swords just up the road. Please try and get out to support the girls. |
| The "Old Guard" - Not meeting this Saturday |
| Some of you may be aware that there's a monthly meet-up in the club on a Saturday morning of some of the mature members of the club. They gather to drink tea and chat. I'm told however this is not on this weekend; One can presume they are either partying with the Dubs, or on holidays. Normal service will resume in September! |

An All-Ireland win always brings out a number of entertaining tweets. Be it someone having "the fear" due to a late night, dare I say, party-induced tweet., or a "there's a camera everywhere" tweet that captures some ribbing. But may favourite of the last few days was the one that captured just how happy Jack McCaffrey was with the win. |
