Club Notes, 29th June 2022

Lining up for champo season

Like last week, it's relatively quiet this week.  Plenty of leagues completing, and eyes start to look forward to the championship.
I've just come from a tough day at the office for the senior footballers - who've been beaten by Na Fianna over in Mobhi Road.
There was a great turnout for this game this evening - lets hope many of you buy tickets to the senior footballers supporters draw that has just gone on sale (more information below).
Hard luck to the Senior Hurlers who were defeated by the slimmest of margins last weekend at home to Lucan.  A game for the ages so it was, and I've heard from more than one person that it was the best game of club hurling they've seen for a long time.  I concur.  it was a cracker.  Either team could have won it; Lucan shaded it.

As always, keep an eye on social channels (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook)
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

U9s and U10s Make the trip to Na Piarsaigh, Limerick

There's a long lasting bond between Na Piarsaigh Limerick and St Vincents.  Noel Drumgoole is a founding member of Na Piarsaigh, and over the years, St Vincents and Na Piarsaigh have often welcomed each other for challenge games.
So, it's great to see the tradition continuing through our U9s and U10s to took the trip to Limerick last weekend, and we're also delighted to be hosting their U12s this Sunday, who will play a challenge game in PNU, prior to heading to Croke Park to watch their Intercounty stars in the All-Ireland semi final.

At the risk of sounding like repeating myself - I say to the U9 mentors: Keept his photo.  Your measure of success is how many of these lads you can say are still playiing at U16.  Or beyond!

The return of Summer Hurling!

Summer hurling returned this week; But its not too late to take part:
Beginning 27 June, for 3 weeks, every Monday and Wednesday there's hurling and camogie games on for U8 to U12.  This is held in Ard Scoil Rís and is a great way for our Hurlers and Camógs to keep their eye in.
As part of this, we'll also be running two away trips to Kilkenny and Tyrone.
Each session is just €2 to go towards the trips, and simply show up on the nights! We look forward to seeing you.

Dubs Football Semi Final Tickets

The tickets for the All Ireland Semi final went on sale, and there's a special, password protected link to allow club members book tickets.  If you'd like to purchase tickets for the game, fill out the form at this link, and I'll drop you an email with the link and the offer code.  Note: This option is only available to club members.

Dublin Camógs in Action too

The Dublin Senior Camogie team take on Wexford in the All Ireland Championship this Satuday 2nd July.  Tickets are avialable at this link, but I'm struggling to get the definitive throw in time and location.  If you are planning on supporting this game, I'd suggest keeping an eye on Dublin Camogie's twitter feed.

Weekend Roundup

This Saturday sees the Senior Footballers take on Kilmacud Crokes at home.  Throw in is at 6:30pm.

We've also a full range of Adult games over the rest of the week with Camogie games tomorrow, Thursday, along with U19, Junior and Intermediate games over the whole weekend.  So, if you're looking for game, head over to our fixtures page,

While I'm talking about fixtures, I'm sometimes caught out with Midweek games.  While the schedule comes out on a Monday, Wednesday is the day I do club notes, and its often too late to promote mid-week matches.  With this in mind:
Next Wednesday sees our adult ladies, away in Stonebridge again Shankill (Throw in 7:30).  There's also a Senior Hurling Game at home at 7:30 on Wednesday 6th.

Well done Dublin U16 girls!

Hot off the press: The Dublin U16 Footballers, which includes our own Tessa Lambe had a super win against Roscommon this evening in the All Ireland Semi Final.  I'm told by a couple of people at the game that the scoreline of 7-9 to 1-12 isn't a fair reflection on the game, and it was much closer particularly in the first half.
Well done to the U16 Dubs, who now look forward to an All Ireland Final for the first time at this level in 6 years.  They'll meet Cork on 13 July.

And finally..

I could tell at-a-glance that this was the "before" image of the U9s & U10s heading to Limerick.

For those of you who have yet to have the pleasure of a juvenile coach trip here's the clues:
1. the floor has no popcorn rolling around in it yet.
2. Not one of the boys is clutching an "airline-style" paper bag.
3. The mentors are not wearing headphones and/or ear plugs
4. The mentors are similing (presumably at parents outside who are high fiving and punching the air)

Ahhh. Trips away with the lads.  Where nightmares memories are created!
