Club Notes, 28 April 2021

Let's hope it is for good.

Ah, lads. Finally.  We got back to training for Juveniles this week. I hear the next announcement from government is tomorrow, so who knows, we may have some info on return to play for adults soon.  Fingers crossed!
Great to see everyone back. Welcome welcome all.
As always, keep an eye on social channels (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook)
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

A refresh of the ground rules

I briefly went down to take a look at how return to play was going on Monday.  Of course, not mentoring or having a better reason to be there, I didn't stick around long.
We've already had some feedback from a couple of sources, so no harm in re-iterating some of the important things to remember.
Can I start by recommending doing the online learning for return to play again? I know everyone did it last year, but the GAA are recommending that if it's been more than 12 months since you completed it, you should really do so again.  I did: I gotta say, it helps refresh why all of these processes and steps are necessary.  I'd like to think by taking it again, it gave me new impetus on being diligent with social distancing, etc. The link for the training is here.

A few important points.  These apply to Mentors, Players and Parents/Guardians. You may have caught this on social media but just in case:
  • Dogs are not permitted on the grounds of the club, nor on the grounds of MIE. Training may be an ideal time to walk the dog, but we have to request you take them out of the club.
  • Sidelines are out we're afraid. Our guidelines allow for non contact training in pods of 15. We request that you drop and leave, or if you want to wait around, please do so in your car. Please do not congregate in the car park with other parents.
  • Players: If you're bringing a bicycle, please park it in provided racks, and keep them off playing surface - no bicycles should be left in MIE.
  • Get in, train, get out. Arriving early would be great in any other time, but for now, it will lead to congregation - please don't arrive too early for your session. This applies to mentors too
  • Mentors: We know you like to plan sessions, but if you are doing so, please continue to observe social distancing.
  • Warm ups: Warm ups should be done in pods, not all together.

Folks: It's no picnic for me either - I'd much rather be reporting on a championship game, a weekend blitz or prep work for Féile.  Instead I'm left barking at my fellow members about whats right and wrong! So, please bear with me! If people follow those guidelines, maybe I won't have to put them out!

U14 Lads doing their bit for charity.

A shout out to the U14 squad. Fresh back to training and they're already giving back: The U14 squad are taking part in 'Darkness Into Light' at Sunrise on May 8th, by doing a socially distanced 10km walk.
They've a goal of raising €1,000 and have already made a nice dent in that.  Why not throw a few quid into encourage them?  The donation link is here

Return to play, Foireann, etc.

We had a resonably good start with return to play, and filling out health questionnaires. Here's what I would say are the top 2 issues we've seen:
1. The issue above, where you log in and it says "No membership for 2021 season".  I wrote about this last week.  Just ignore it (more info here)
2. Some people are receiving actual errors when they attempt to submit a health questionnaire; A red error message pops up.  This may be caused by a data issue which I can fix.  If you see this, drop me a mail (pro@stvincentsgaa.ie) and I'll see if I can fix it.

Mini Leagues Returns this Weekend.

Mini leagues comes back this weekend at 10:30 am at the club.  As with other teams, full covid19 procedures in place.  Parents, we'd bring your attention to the following:
1. Please refresh your online learning, if you haven't already.
2. You will need to fill in a health declaration for your child at https://www.foireann.ie.

If you are filling in Foireann.ie for the first time:
1. Sign up to the system.
2. Add "St Vincents GAA" as your club
3. Create your family in the "family" section of foireann.
4. Make a covid declaration - choose you team as "Girls Mini Leagues 2021" or "Boys Mini Leagues 2021".  If you need help on this, here's a useful article.

Lotto

Lotto draw, 26 April 2021.  Jackpot was €1,750.  Numbers drawn were:
10, 5, 20, 1
There was no jackpot winner.  Weekly winner was Noel Drumgoole.  Next week's jackpot wil be €1,900.

It's Membership Renewal Time

I know we've mentioned about subscriptions being due, but with a potential return to play, players and parents are asked to renew their subscriptions. This becomes important because all players must be registered with each relevant body, for which the club has to pay registration fees/contribution to the injury fund and games fees.  You can renew your membership at this link.
Thank you to all who have renewed to date.

Newsletter details

This newsletter is sent to over 1000 recipients and is a great way to inform members of club happenings. If you want anything included in the newsletter, drop a mail to pro@stvincentsgaa.ie. Comments and feedback are welcome too.

And finally..

My thanks to Claire McDonnell, who is a mentor on the U8 Girls team, who sent me in this photo. Some of the Under 8 girls had made cards for their mentors in school on Monday, ahead of return to play.

'nnawwww.
