A silent-movie version of a big championship weekend.

There's lots of action this weekend as a some sections get their championships started, whilst others are reaching the "business" end of theirs. This is of course great excitement for the participants, but less so for the supporters who can't lend their voice to the action. Sure lookit, it is what it is. Read on and I'll tell you all about it.

Clarity on attending juvenile games
|
|
|
|
|
|
| |
The GAA's Covid advisory committee have issued updated guidelines in relation to attendance at underage games.
You can read the full statement here, but here's what you may need to know:
- Only 1 family member can attend per child/family/group. This means that event if the twins are playing, only 1 parent/guardian should attend. The parent/guardian is present not as a spectator, but in in a supervisory capacity for their child.
- If you are going to attend, you'll be subject to the 'return to play' protocol. This means you'll need to declare your health status (as you have been doing for your child)
- Numbers may still be limited by available space - while there, please observe social distancing.
- If your child is playing at adult level (e.g playing Minor) and is under 18, this does NOT give you the right to attend. You may be in close proximity (e.g. car park), but adult games remain "No spectator" events.
- Last, as a parent/guardian you are not subject to vetting as you are in attendance as a supervisor for your child only.

Speaking of return-to-play guidelines..

A gentle reminder that filling out a health questionnaire should be done by adults in all cases. If you child is under 18 years of age, this means you need to fill our the form or press the re-confirm button, not the child themselves. If a child is filling this out on a sideline just before training, it puts the supervisor in the awkward position of knowing that protocol is not being followed. Your child shouldn't have access to the return to play portal, and shouldn't know your password. (Related:If your child knows your password, you may want to check the settings on any parental controls you've set up at home. They're probably not still there. 😃)

Big weekend for ladies football coming up, wherein they all start their championships. Great to be starting back, and best of luck girls. Here's what's in store:
- Tomorrow, Thursday 27th: Our U15s take on Erin's Isle out in Finglas. (6:45pm)
- Also tomorrow, Thursday 27th: Our U14s start their Féile campaign. They're away to Garda/Westmanstown Gaels at 6:45 pm.
- On Friday, 28th U14 B team take on Skerries Harps for their Féile opener. Also, away, also at 6:45pm
- Our Minor teams (U18) start their championships next Monday, 31st. Our As take on a combined Parnells/O'Tooles side. At least this one's at home; Throw in is at 6:30pm. Our B team play Na Fianna; Also at home at 6:30pm.
A Féile shout out wouldn't be a Féile shout out with a squad shot. Best of luck girls!

Golf outing? You can't be serious, right?

|
|

As promised, we're running a "Ryder-Cup" style golf event. This will be held on 26th September at Donabate Golf Club. Of course, subject to any government restrictions. (Right now, golf playing is allowed!).
The format is "Ryder Cup" in that there's two teams. You can chose to represent the Adult Section or the Juvenile Section. Entry fee is €50 and is strictly limited by the tee times we've been allocated.
If you want to support the event, you can sponsor a hole (€100), or if you want to sponsor a player, feel free to kick in an amount which reflects how much you like said player 😛.
No news on an after event mind. We all want to keep our jobs, you know.

Big quarter-final for the senior footballers
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| |
The senior footballers take on Kilmacud Crokes in the quarter-final of the Dublin Senior Football Championship. It is on Saturday 29th, at 5:30pm in Parnell Park. Again with the no spectators, but I expect to see a link for DubsTV stream as the week draws on. Keep an eye on social media for that,

And a semi-final for senior camogie.

|
|
|
| |
The Senior Camogie team contest the Dublin Semi-Final this Sunday, at 1:30pm in Pairc Naomh Uinsionn against Ballyboden. Unfortunately, no spectators are permitted. No word from the Dublin Camogie board if they are streaming it. I'll keep my ear to the ground and let you know if there's any word of a stream. Best of luck girls.

Commiserations to the senior hurling team who were defeated last weekend by Ballyboden. A tough end to a tough year. Playing to no crowd is no fun. We wished we could have been there in support.

Ladies members: Are you starting college this year?
|
|
|
|
|
|
| |
Many of you may remember the Louise Lynch Bursary, which was introduced last year in memory of our dear friend Louise. Once again, the bursary will be awarded. Full details on the programme is available here. The eligibility criteria are really straight forward. To qualify to enter you must:
- Be a playing member of St Vincents, playing either Camogie or Ladies Football.
- Be entering Third level education for the first time at time of application.
- Not be in receipt of another third level bursary or scholarship.
Note: Members who are entering Third level as a mature student are eligible to apply.
We urge anyone of our female members going to college later this year to apply. Entry is via a simple form here.

- The Junior footballers who take on Cuala this Sunday at 11:00 out in Hyde Park in the quarter-final of the Junior 2 all-county football championship
- The Minor A hurlers, They play Raheny on PNU1 in the quarter-final of the Minor A hurling championship also at 11:00 on Sunday
- The Minor B hurlers, who take on Na Fianna in the quarter-final of the minor C hurling championship. That's at 11:00 am on Sunday
