| We're coming up on the May bank holiday weekend. Just as we've done in the past, we have a couple of tournaments lined up to keep the young ones busy! We'll have a round-up of last weekend, results, and our usual shout-outs to those representing the club at inter-county level. |

| Commiserations to Andy Smyth and Bill Costello who were defeated in the U20 Leinster Football Final against Kildare in Carlow on Monday evening. All accounts of this game have called it a cracker, with nothing to separate the sides at the final whistle. During extra time, Kildare outscored us by 3 points, leaving the final score 0-16 to 0-13. Hard luck boys - it was a great run. The Minor Hulers fared better, beating Laois on a score line of 1-20 to 0-17. Our congratulations to Rónán O'Neill, Ryan Murphy, and Harry Curley, all named on that squad. The Minors are now through to a Leinster semi-final. I was sent this photograph of the lads after the game, who were thankful for their teammates Rian, Christian, Finn, Bailey and Scott, who took the train down to support their fellow Vins players. |
| | Just as I write this, the Minor Footballers have just beaten Westmeath in Parnell Park this evening on a scoreline of 4-19 to 2-12. Well done to Ciaran O'Connor (who returns from injury), Harry Curley, and Leo Sweeney who all played this evening. Also, at the time of writing: We congratulate Eimear Adamson, who got her Dublin debut start this evening lining out in the Minor football championship versus Kildare in Kilcullen this evening. In this instance, Kildare ran out winners. Best of luck to Conor Burke who plays Senior Hurling for Dublin, when they face Westmeath in round 2 of the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship this Saturday. Finally, Dublin's Senior Camogie team take on Wexford this weekend in the Leinster Quarter Final (Santry, 1 pm). The team has yet to be announced, but we know Muireann Kelliher and Aisling Maher have been playing with the team this year. We send them our best wishes. |
| Fundraising draw in support of pitch maintenance |
| | I put out a separate message on the mailing list and social media about this, so I won't repeat it here. We are very grateful for the entries received from many members and supporters to date. Your entry really helps with the much-needed work on our pitches. If you haven't yet entered, there's still time! |
| | | One of our younger members lost their fitbit during easter camp. Did you pick it up? Please drop it into Michelle in the office if you come across it and we'll re-acquaint it with its owner. |
| May Bank Holiday Tournaments |
| From the "yes-parents-we-have-your-back" department, I have news of our May Day tournaments. Monday, May 1 will see us host our annual Aoife McGrane-King and Paddy Donnelly tournaments. |
| | Registration for both tournaments begins at 11:45. There will be a Cake Sale on the day, and Farrell Hurls will also be on hand for any Camogie/Hurling needs. Aoife McGrane-King Camogie Tournament This is a mixed ages Camogie tournament for girls aged U8 to U12; there are two competitions (mixed teams U8,U9 and mixed teams U10,U11,U12), both competitions will have a cup winner Paddy Donnelly Hurling Tournament This is also a mixed-ages tournament. This is for Hurlers aged U8 to U12, with group stages, semi-final and final. If we get the weather, these are always a great day out for our younger members and their families - I'd recommend bringing the grandparents along to see the little ones in action. Many's a young hurler or Camog were first noticed at this competition. It's mixed ages, and the level of skill always shines through. |
| Did someone mention cake sale? |
| | I certainly did. Each year, the current U14 team begin their Féile Fundraising for their snazzy new gear by holding a cake sale during the May Day competitions. Kudos to the U14 mentors who saved me from doing up a poster and writing up the details provided a poster and had this to say: "The U14 girls will be holding a Bake Sale at the annual Aoife McGrane-King and Paddy Donnelly tournaments on Bank Holiday Monday, May 1 from 12 noon to fundraise for their Feile 2024 competitions. There will be the usual wonderful selection of homemade cakes, muffins, brownies, cookies etc. We will also be making fresh crepes with a variety of filings. And there will also be crisps and other treats available. As you know, the cakes usually sell out at lightning speed, and while the girls (and their parents!) will be baking all weekend in preparation for this, they would be hugely grateful for any donations of cakes to keep the hungry masses well fed throughout the day!! If you would like to donate any cakes, they can be dropped up to the club hall from 11 am." |
| | Well done to the U15 girls who contested the Division 2 Féile in Naomh Ólaf last weekend. They got off to the best start possible, and won all 3 group games, in challenging conditions. Unfortunately, they were beaten at the semi-final stage in a tight game against Naomh Jude. The girls should be so proud, as they never gave up and put in amazing trojan work. Special thanks to Naomh Ólaf who were great hosts, and to our friends in Spar Ireland who answered our last-minute call for a (much needed) gazebo for the day. |

| | My heroes for this week have to be the U10 boys, who took part in the Maynooth GAA U10 Blitz last week. |
| | The observant among you will notice wet hair and drenched jerseys. Despite the torrential downpour their enthusiasm never wavered. Don't believe me? Check out this short. |
