Second coaching talk completed

Once again, many thanks for a great turn out for Ger O'Connor's talk "Say what you mean, mean what you say" this evening. Defintely some food for thought.  A heavy emphasis on positive feedback, and a request to bin sideline clichés. Great advice altogether.  If you attended tonight's talk, we'd appreciate feedback which can be supplied in this form.

So, now that you are all loving the talks - here's some from the county board

Next week is Dublin Gaa's "Health Week" and they have a set of talks lined up.  The talks are aimed at everyone. So if you are a player, mentor, parent/guardian, and regardless if you are a juvenile or adult, I think there's something in here for everyone.  The talks are:
Monday 1st March: Dr Colman Noctor with a talk on adjusting to covid restrictions and staying motivated.
Tuesday 2nd March: Shane Carthy (not our Shane Carthy, the other one) who has written a book on dealing with depression.
Wednesday 3rd March: Dr Tom Clonan will give a talk on inclusivity.
Thursday 4th March: Dr Mark Ward an Oliver Keating will give a talk on volunteering
Friday 5th March: Niall Turner & Daithi O'Haolain will speak about social rounders.
A great range of talks there. Full details, include a sign up link can be found on the Dublin GAA Website

Still looking for referees

Last week we published a call for new referees from the county board and Coiste an Réiteoirí.  I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the response.  We had a number of people express interest at both Juvenile and Adult level.
The county board are particularly interested in bulking up the referee panel for minor and adult games. So, if you've been considering it, please get in touch.
If you're interested in becoming a referee, drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie, and we'll get your name put forward. Note that as soon as public guidelines allow it, Coiste an Réiteoirí will be running a foundation course.

Virtual Mini Leagues are back

Virtual mini leagues started back at the end of January.  Short sessions on Saturday mornings for boys and girls aged 4-7. It runs from 10:45 am to 11:15am. All are welcome. Pre-registration is essential, by filling out this form.

#FitnessFebruary Week 3

We've now got 3 weeks of responses from juveniles taking part in #FitnessFebruary: It's simple but gets the children back thinking about training:
To take part:

1. Keep a note of any training or exercise you do.
2. Also note when you eat healthy
3. And, make sure you get a good nights sleep!

Parents and Gaurdians:
Each Sunday fill our your child's weekly progress here.

Week three results are in, and the boys overtake the girls to lead the table, but word on the street is that it is extremely close at the top of the table and all to play for. Can the boys retain their lead, or will the girls rally this weekend?

Use your weekly shopping to raise cash for Vins

Main Sponsor of Ladies Gaelic, Lidl are running a campaign where each time you shop with them, you can gain points which can ultimately lead to a cash donation for the club.
The process is pretty straightforward:
1. Download/open the Lidl Plus app and follow the prompts
2. Select Naomh Uinsionn as the club you want to support
3. Spend over €30 in store and scan your Lidl Plus card to earn a stamp (over €60 = 2 stamps, over €90 = 3 stamps, etc.)
4. Collect 6 stamps and submit your completed stamp card by Sunday, April 11th (users can submit multiple completed stamp cards)
Full details over on Lidl's website.

Club Grounds Remain Closed

We've put out a number of messages to state that the club grounds are closed, and pitches are unavailable for use, be that even for individual traiing. Whilst the vast majority of members have respected this, a number of people have continued to use the pitches. If you're reading this and thinking
'they don't mean me'
'what harm can I be doing on my own?'
'it's just 20 minutes'
'I'm only doing a light run'
'Sure where else can the dogs have a run around?'

Please, think again. Our grounds remain closed and do so for a number of reasons including government and GAA directives. If you flout this request, think of the message you are sending to all those who have remained respectful to the current situation we find ourselves in.

Also please note that this message also refers to the MIE facility; We have had a number of complaints from MIE that their pitches are being used by St Vincents members.

Newsletter details

This newsletter is sent to over 1000 recipients and is a great way to inform members of club happenings. If you want anything included in the newsletter, drop a mail to pro@stvincentsgaa.ie. Comments and feedback are welcome too.

And finally..

Further to last weeks reference to images on the indo archive, antipodean member, Mark Doyle took it on himself to try to identify as many people in the crowd from the famous 80s juvenile final clash. With help from many, the lad's done well.

If there's one thing that gets Vinnies members motivated its a bit of nostalgia. Sorry I had to compress, but you can see the full size version over on Mark's original tweet. Better still, you can join his conversation to pressure the indo to relase the full resolution copy.
