And so begins the championships
Championship is the glory time of the year. But, it's also harsh. If you win, you get the fight another day, if you lose, you're gone (at least after the group stages!). We compete until there's nobody left standing.
To the winners, the spoils.
And so, we're beginning championship time of year. Senior Mens draws have been made, while the Camogie teams kicked off just last night, and the adult ladies bowed out last weekend. Juvenile champos are on the way too.

Introducing: The St Vincents All Stars
We've already reached a quorum for participants in the All Stars.
If you know of a child with additional needs who is in the Parish, please let their parents know about this.
The club is in the process of developing organised gaelic games training for children with additional needs. We are at early stages of planning, and the programme will be designed around the needs of the participants.
Parents: Have you a child who would like to join? Drop us a note at allstars@stvincentsgaa.ie. Mentors will be trained, and garda vetted and you'll be fully consulted to help us design a programme that meets your childs' needs.
For those who'd like to lend a hand, or offer professional advice, please get in touch too - We are also recruiting volunteers to help set up, run and monitor the sessions. Training will be given.
Local businesses: We're looking for sponsorship to fund equipment purchase; if you'd like to be associated with this initiative in your business drop us a note and we can talk about options!

Golf Outing: Ryder Cup Style
Folks: Our hope here is that now we can somewhat socialise, that we can get representation from every team in the club. The focus is on a fun day out. If you are spending weekends on the sideline, trading pleasantries with other parents, why not suggest coming along. Last year this was a great day out. Looking forward to this one!
Our one-day golf outing is back. It's organised as a "Ryder Cup" style - pitting one team against the other. It's very simple:
1. Choose if you'd like to represent the adult section or the juvenile section
3. Tee times will be allocated
4. Turn up and enjoy!
Date: 24th September
Tee Times: 12:00 to 15:00
Location: Donabate Golf Club.

Before we get to champo, we can't forget the end of the leagues

Hard luck to our Intermediate Hurlers who lost the AHL4 final narrowly by 2 points. I'm told a rally from 5 down brought us back into it, and we had all the momentum, but ran out of time.
A big congratulations to the Junior hurlers who won AHL9 by beating Setanta (1-17 to 0-13) last Sunday.

The Camogie championship waits for nobody, and swiftly got underway last night. Unfortunately, our Junior 3 Camogie team were defeated in their opening group game by Kilmacud on a scoreline of 2-18 to 2-5. But, as it is a group game, they are still in the competition.
Best of luck to the Inter Camogie Team who open their championship campaign tomorrow against Naomh Brid (PNU2, throw in at 7pm) and our Junior 1s, who also begin their campagin. They are away, also tomorrow at 7pm to Naomh Mearnog.
The Senior Camogie team's campaign gets underway on September 5 against Kilmacud (Away, 10:30 am)
Meanwhile, the Adult Mens Championship draws have taken place.
Senior Hurlers: Opening game is v St Judes on Saturday 4 September (Parnell Park, 4:00pm)
Intermediate Hurlers: Opening game is v St Maurs on Satuday 4 September (PNU, 6:00pm)
Junior Hurlers: Opening game is v Clanna Gael Fontenoy Saturday 4 September (Sean Moore Park, 6pm)
Junior B Hurling: Opening game is v Lucan Sarsfields on Sunday 5 September (Arthur Griffith Park, 3:00pm).
Senior Footballers: Opening game is v Balinteer St Johns on Sunday 12 September (O'Toole Park, 4pm)
Intermediate Footballers: Opening game is v Skerries Harps, at home on 12th September (11:00 am)
Junior A Footballers take on Na Fianna on the 12th September; thats away at Collinstown Lane, also at 11:00.
Junior B Footballers take on St Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh on the 12th at 3pm, away in Martin Savage Park.
Rest assured folks, that I'll be also highlighting all games in the notes each week. But remember as always, fixtures are published on the club website.

Our Gaelic4mothersAndOthers (GAA4MO) team did a cracking job this week. They were asked by the LGFA if they would help promote Sports Direct's 3 year support of the G4MO initiative. Pictured here are (back row) Lisa Crowe, Jillian Bolger, Alison Curtis, Chizuru Ryan. (front row) Mairín Delaney, Vanessa Golden.

You may know Alison as a presenter on TodayFM, and she gave some great insights into how welcoming and inclusive the team are on an interview with off the ball this week. Alison is from Canada, and the GAA4MO Captain, Chizuru is from Japan. I'd like to think we have a truly international contingent! The team are a great set of ambassadors for St Vincents. Thanks and well done ladies.
If you'd like to join, or find out more, there's a page about our GAA4MAs team on the club website.
