| | Brian and Sean Mullins memorial event in Portlaoise - A correction |
| Last week I put out a message about a special event being held in conjunction with Portlaoise GAA to remember Brian and Sean Mullins. My mistake folks: I incorrectly referred to it being on Bank Holiday Monday. Please note that the event will take place on the Sunday of the Bank Holiday (4th of June) and not the Monday as previously announced. Here's last week's notice, but this time with the correct details: We're delighted to be working with Portlaoise GAA for a special event on Sunday, June 4th. As you all know, it was with deep sadness that St Vincents lost one of our stalwarts last year with the passing of Brian Mullins, RIP. You may not have been aware that Brian's brother, Sean, moved to Portlaoise in 1970, and quickly embedded himself in the GAA Scene there. Sean won an all-Ireland Club Championship medal with Portlaoise in 1976/77, beating St Vincents on the way. Unfortunately, Sean Mullins passed before Brian in August 2020. We were approached recently by Portlaoise GAA who wanted a way to remember both men and so on June 4th, we'll take place in the inaugural Sean and Brian Mullins Memorial Event. The event will see our Senior Hurlers take on Portlaoise Senior Hurlers, and our Senior Footballers take on Portlaoise Senior Footballers. We expect to arrange some juvenile games to ensure that the event is truly a family day out. We can't think of a better way to honour Brian and Sean, and we hope to see many of you there! |
| | Jungle Challenge 2023 - Tickets and Sponsorships are now on sale |
| The big "Jungle Challenge" fundraiser for the Adult Camogie Session is now on sale. Here's all you need to know: - The event will take place on Saturday 17th June 2023.
- Tickets for the event are available at https://vins.ie/jungle23
- Each player is looking for sponsorship:
- Corporate sponsorship is €250. This will designate the player as "Sponsored by <YOUR GENEROUS COMPANY HERE>"
- Individual sponsorship. The amount given is at your own discretion
- There are also "Challenge Sponsorships" available. If you want your company to be named as responsible for one of the challenges this can also be purchased at the above link.
Corporate Sponsors: This can be purchased online at the above link, and once purchased, the organising team will be in touch to get the information they may need to give you a relevant shout-out. When you purchase a sponsorship, you'll be asked which contestant you are purchasing for at check out. Similarly, if you purchase individual sponsorship, you will be asked which contestant it is for at check out. Please note that sponsorship is not an attendance ticket - If you would like to come along on the night, please purchase a "General Admission" Ticket. Last on Challenge sponsorships: I'm sorry, I don't know what the challenges will be, so can't help you there. I'm taking part you see, and I think they are keeping us in the dark about the challenges. (My guess is this is a good idea) |

| | I always try to keep it light towards the end of the newsletter. But this tale has a twist. I give you first, the good news. I was sent this from club treasurer Paul Tancred this week: |

|
| It's a wonderful addition to the club car park. There are a number of club members with children with wheelchairs or family members with mobility issues; Some of them are regulars at big games at PNU1, so we were delighted to add a specific space, which faces the action and will allow those with additional needs to be able to watch the game from the comfort of their car. Yesterday, I visited PNU1 as the Senior Camogie game was on. I met not one, but two such members - parents of children in wheelchairs; they had come along to watch. What did they find? |
|

|
| | Unoccupied. No blue sign or sticker. I can only assume someone who chose to ignore the markings on the ground. C'mon folks. We can do better. |
