| Every January I say the same thing: I'm always expecting the mentors to ease themselves back into the new year, but the enthusiasm always takes over. I've been down for a couple of evenings at meetings over the last couple of weeks and am struck by how busy the club is already! Its no doubt going to get busier with the return of the mini leagues this weekend. Christmas seemed to creep up so quickly after the AGM, that we didn't get around to thanking our army of volunteers - so there's a night planned this weekend for that. More below. Let's crack on shall we? |

| Mini Leagues return this weekend |
| I've fielded a couple of direct messages on this one over the last week or so. I'm sure the kids are chomping at the bit to get back. Mini Leagues returns this Saturday - We look forward to having you back |
| Memberships for 2023 are now due |
| By now, you've probably received an automated mail from ClubZap about the memberships being due. Memberships are essential to the running of the club, and a big chunk of them go immediately to the GAA, LGFA and Camogie Association as registration fees, including player insurance. Fees are also paid in the form of Games Fees to county boards, so it is imperative that we collect them as soon as possible. Special thanks to the many members who were very quick to pay promptly. The membership fee rates for 2023 are online with Club Zap. Payment can be made online at https://vins.ie/membership. Students must upload their current student id to avail of student rates. Please contact Michelle at 01-8335722 or office@stvincentsgaa.ie should you have any queries. If you'd like to download a copy of the chairperson's letter regarding memberships, you can get it here. |
| A shout out to Squad Admins |
| Key to collecting fees and registering players is ensuring that our data records are clean and correct. We manage our membership database through ClubZap and I'm indebted to the squad admins for their help. Each team nominates a squad administrator who receives their team list on a weekly basis and lets me know of any duplicates/errors/missing players or those who have moved on. This has proved invaluable for last year and I wanted to express a word of thanks to those who help me on this. |
| And speaking of volunteers |
| | A club runs completely on its volunteers. Without the many mentors, helpers, key holders, office staff, bar staff etc, the club would simply not operate. We always try to thank our volunteers around Christmas time, so this Saturday the club is running a Volunteer Appreciation Night in the club bar. There'll be some drinks on the house, and live entertainment too. Rumour also has it that the bar team are launching their new cocktail range, named after themselves. You could be sipping on A "Ghandi Shandy", Enjoying “Amanda's Tipple”, or walloping back a “Quirkey's Best”. What are they? You'll have to come along to see - and there's plenty more where that came from! If you're a volunteer - you're invited! We hope to see you there. |
| A question for the more established members |
| Vice-chairman, Ciarán Barr asked me to ask you this one: “Does anyone remember the name of the company that drilled the bore holes for the well that supplies water to the tanks under the car park?” Now, admittedly, this is a strange request, but I'm aware that some of the club notes readers are long-term members who probably know the exact answer to this. Can you help? Drop myself or Ciaran a mail if you can! |
| | More refurbishment works continue on the bar, and each week it's looking better and better. The team is shaping up nicely, and bar manager Richie, has some big plans for 2023. Below is just a taste of what's to come: More Live music - This Saturday is a start, but more to come! A bar re-launch when all the work is complete, A ballad session for St Patrick's Day From the bar staff team themselves: "All this and more to look forward to from your club bar team this year. Keep an eye on the club notes for more details, or just pop in and see us, we'll throw another log on the fire, pour you a drink, and tell you all about it! Pop in for a coffee and a sausage roll or jambon some weekend and get the goss!! We have some more tasty options coming for you to try out there too!! Coffee dock opened with mini leagues! Bar opens, Fridays Saturdays and Sundays. (Or any other evening upon request, availability permitting) Remember: you can book any Friday night for your team fundraiser. Along with a friendly bar service, the club provides the ticket sales link, the quiz master, the admin on the night, and any help you may need to make your night run smoothly and enjoyable for you and your guests. Looking forward to seeing you all!!" That's not all folks - There's some other big events planned; But i'm not going to reveal all just yet… |

- Once completed, this will be sent back to the club secretary who submits it on your behalf.

| | So, let's end on a high note, shall we? Word has come through to me that Hanna Murphy of the U16 Girls team has been selected to play for Dublin Ladies Footballers at U16 for the coming Season. Well done Hannah. In addition, Ruth Cosgrave has been selected for the U16 Camogie squad and Caitlin McKenna and Maebh Cotter have also been called up to the development squad. Mentors: If any of your players are getting calls up, and you'd like us to know - feel free to drop me a mail about their achievements. |
