Club Notes, 23rd September 2020

Two steps forward, one step back

It seems like just a week since I was talking about 9 teams still in championship action, doesn't it?  Yeah, that's because it is! Last Friday saw a return to level 3 restrictions, and with that the wiping out of all juvenile games for 3 weeks at least, and adult games go back to behind-closed-doors affairs. Disappointing for everyone, but, sure, it is what it is, as the saying goes. I don't expect this weeks' notes to be a long one, that's for sure.
I'd like to tell you to keep an eye on our social channels Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, but I fear there won't be a lot to publish!
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Last chance to get in; just a couple of slots left. Golf outing this Saturday

Thanks to everyone who supported the "Ryder Cup" outing this coming weekend. We've had great support not only in entries, but also in sponsor a hole. There's a very small amount of places left, so if you'd like to play you'll find everything you need to know on a "Questions and Answers" page on the club website.
You can purchse tickets online here.

Our thanks to Richie Conway, who has sponsored a wonderful cup. It's engraved with Naomh Uinsionn Crest. Now, all we have to decide is will the inaugral winner be the Juvenile section, or the Adult section?

Cracking game of Hurling for our Junior 2 hurlers

Last weekend saw our Junior 2 Hurling team contest the Junior G Hurling Championship semi final against St Monicas. With St Monicas offering to stream the game, someone had to give them access to get power, etc. so I got to watch this one. Thoroughly entertaining, with epic battles which Vincents winning by 4 points on a scoreline of 2-08 to 0-10. The lads are now through to the Junior G final, which will be against Thomas Davis. No sign of the fixture on the county board site yet, but I'll let you know once it is fixed.
The steam is still live here. A special shout out to our own Cillian O'Neill who did commentary alongside Dublin legend Vinny Murphy; Both commentators did a great job. A little birdy told me that Cillian didn't know who the heck Vinny Murphy was. I just love that GAA can create stories like this.
Well done Junior 2s, and well done Cillian.

This week's matches

With all juvenile games postponed, and plenty of adult teams finished their championship campaigns, we've just two games on this weekend.  I'm use to this in November, but not in September!
Both games are on 5:30pm at home:
  • The intermediate footballers contest the intermediate All County Football Cup where they face Ballymun Kickhams. That will be on PNU2 or MIE.
  • The senior footballers are in a Senior 1 Football Cup group game against NaFianna.  That's on PNU1.
Of course folks, all games are behind closed doors. Please adhere to the regulations - We don't want GAA clubs ending up causes for further restrictions.
