Not a huge amount of announcements this week; A good win in the league for U16, the Dubs back in action in Croker this weekend, national féile action and our usual roundups. Thanks for taking the time to read.

Special congratulations goes out the U16 boys who won the Division 1 U16 Hurling League last night. Truth be told, they couldn't be caught but an emphatic win over Kilmacud last night sweetened the final table. These lads have been putting in Sunday morning shifts in the skill zone for more years than I'd care to remember, and the fruits of this effort were on display last night. An excellent team performance over the course of the league, and they are fully deserved of their win. Well done to the boys and the mentor team.

I mentioned last week about the work being done in the bar, but I also managed to swing by to get a look at it for myself. It's looking really well, I think you'll agree. Drop by for a coffee and a chat

Every time I've swung by, I seem to bump into Dayo Allen, who's spent more than a few hours shining up the trophies. I think you'll agree, the cabinet is looking well too!

The return of Summer Hurling!

Delighted to see this one back. Summer hurling has been a long-standing tradition at St Vincents, but Covid put paid to it the last 2 years.
Beginning 27 June, for 3 weeks, every Monday and Wednesday there's hurling and camogie games on for U8 to U12. This is held in Ard Scoil Rís and is a great way for our Hurlers and Camógs to keep their eye in.
As part of this, we'll also be running two away trips to Kilkenny and Tyrone.
Each session is just €2 to go towards the trips, and simply show up on the nights! We look forward to seeing you.

Lads: Who wants to make a few quid making a commercial?

Friend of the club, and casting agent Ann Curtis was in touch to see if we knew any "GAA Mates" who'd be intersted in taking part in an ad shoot. There's a €2k fee in this on. She states:
" We are producing a TV commercial for a radio station and are looking for three lads who love nothing more than a night in with the lads with a few drinks, lots of slagging and a chipper to top it all off!
We are inviting individuals, small groups and couples to apply but are VERY keen to talk to real groups of friends - Either with acting experience or first timers who just want to have a laugh with their friends.
Its all about having fun and getting that banter across to us!
Early to Mid 20's
Natural performance. Should be comfortable in front of the camera but experience is not required."
The brief for the role states:
"
Name:
The lads!
Role age:
20 - 25 years old
Description:
Three men, early to mid 20’s
These are typical Irish country lads. They’re down-to-earth, lovable rogues and typical GAA boys. They’re always up for the craic….whether it’s raving three days into a festival or just going for a drive around town.
When they’re together, they’re at their best. They vary in their levels of confidence….but as a group, they feel strong. They’re carefree, but not ignorant or inconsiderate. More in a happy go-lucky sense. They value authentic experiences over material goods. They’re tall, bulky lads. Despite the scenario we see them in in this film, they take good care of themselves and are in good shape. They have classic country lads’ haircuts"
Sounds like the Junior Footballers to me. If you're interested drop Ann an Email.

Last All-Stars until after the break

A full turnout for the last all-stars session of the season. The mentos will now take a break and the all stars will return in late August/Early September. Well done to those who got behind the initiative, but also thanks to the mentors who have given up their time every Friday. A big thanks to the parents and especially a big congratulations to the all stars themselves. We look forward to having you back after the summer break!
