First Championship weekend down. Phew.
|
|
|
|

So, we got championship underway. A long time coming I’m sure you’ll agree, and not what we’d hope for in terms of being able to support, but we take what we can at this stage. When arrangements were announced last week, we were hoping for a move to 500-people outdoor events which would be fine for the earlier rounds of the championship. Unfortunately, the government changed the date on that. For now, we need to wait for 20th August before that particular restriction is lifted. Alas, loyal supporters, you’ll have to bear with us. As we’ve mentioned numerous times; our supporters span many ages, and everyone’s health and well-being must be prioritised. I’m afraid this weekend’s senior football game is another ticketed game, with no tickets on general release. I explain this a little more later in this newsletter.

Senior Football Championship - Ticketed only
|

Please see message from the executive regarding this weekend’s clash with Whitehall Colmcilles:
“Our Senior Football Championship opener against Whitehall Colmcille on Saturday 25th July has been designated a ticket-only event.
According to government guidelines outdoor gatherings are limited to 200 people provided social distancing can be maintained. The county board have issued a limited ticket allocation to both St Vincents and Whitehall. Each player and backroom team member must come from this allocation, leaving a very small number of tickets for spectators.
For this reason, tickets will not be going on a general release or sale.
We understand the this will cause disappointment amongst our loyal supporters and apologise for this. Whilst our expectation was for an easing of this restriction, recently issued government guidelines mean the limit still remains in force.
We ask all members for their co-operation at this time. We ask anyone who is not in possession of a ticket to not arrive at Colmcilles

Last weekend - not a bad start
|

Good start to the Senior A Hurling Championship last weekend. We saw off the competition of Oliver Plunketts Eoghan Ruadh and a scoreline of 2-21 to 1-16. Good wins for Minor A Footballerss, who beat Thomas Davis by 5-8 to 1-13 and the Minor B Footballers who defeated Na Fianna by a single point in what I hear was a thriller. Hard luck to the Minor Cs; they were beaten by Thomas Davis’s B team. Our intermediate hurlers also saw defeat to Kilmacud Crokes in their opening game. Both Junior Hurling teams were victorious: Our Junior As saw off Parnells 1-14 to 1-10 and our Junior Bs beat Lucan Sarsfields 3-9 to 0-13.

Mini Leagues for Girls Continues

Mini leagues returned for girls two weeks back. In case you missed it it takes place at 10:30 am on Saturday mornings. Here's a reminder of the steps if you would like your daughter to take part:
As with the rest of the club, mini-leagues occur under "Safe Return to Play" Guidelines.
Parents: We're delighted to have your daughter back this weekend; prior to return:
- Please ensure you have taken the online training at https://courses.gaa.ie/Covid19ClubEd/
- When you complete the course, take a screen shot or download your certificate of completion. You may be asked by the Covid supervisor for Mini-Leagues to provide evidence that you have completed the course.
- Sign up to the return to play system at https://returntoplay.gaa.ie.Make sure you choose "St Vincents GAA" as your club.
- Make a declaration on your child's current health (for team, choose "U7 Camogie")
- For all subsequent training sessions, please re-declare on the day of training.
- Be aware that attendance records will be kept to help with contact tracing should that be required.
- Bring hand sanitiser and sanitise your childs hands before and after training.
- During training avoid close contact with other parents - please observe social distancing.

Camogie spinning back up too
|

|
|

The Dublin Camogie Championship Draws were held last Monday. Our senior team are in a group with Lucan Sarsfields and Kilmacud Crokes. Our intermediate Camogie team are in a group with Crumlin, St Perergrines and Erin’s Isle. Our Junior 1 team are grouped with Balinteer St Johns, Clanna Gael Fontenoy, Erin’s Isle and Naomh Barróg.
Before the championship, the Camogie Challenge Cup gets underway; Our senior team take on Ballyboden this Sunday at 10:00 am out in Ballyboden.

Skills Sessions for Boys And Girls in August
|

|
|
|
|
| |
With the lifting of restrictions, our juvenile section have put together a programme of skill sessions during the first two weeks in August:
- The sessions are broken into 4 age groups:
- U8 (Born 2012), U9, U10/11, and U12/13.
- There are 4 sessions for each age group held over 2 weeks.
- Each session is 90 minutes long
- Sessions can be attended individually (€6 per session) or you can book all 4 sessions for €20

Please note:
- These sessions are subject to any government restriction. In the event of cancellation, a full refund will be given.
- Full "Safe Return to Play" procedures, if still in place will be adhered to
- All equipment used will be sanitised before and after each session.

Coming Soon: Vincents own Ryder Cup
|

Keep an eye out: We’ll be opening up tickets to a golf outing real soon. We’re running a golf outing in Ryder Cup style; Choose to represent the Juvenile section or the Adult section. Entry will be €50.
Want to support your club? Hole sponsorship is available for €100. The outing will be held on Donabate golf club on September 26, assuming the current governement covid planning.

Head over to our fixtures page for a full list of games on this weekend. If you are planning on attending, we ask you to follow the guidelines set out by the county board:
- Spectators must not attend games if they display any symptoms of Covid-19 and instead should phone their GP and follow public health advice.
- Spectators should remain in the same area for the duration of the game, remain 2m apart and avoid intermingling with other individuals or groups.
- All spectators are encouraged to bring their own hand sanitiser. The use of face coverings is strongly advised for all patrons over the age of 13.
- Spectators must not enter the field of play at any time including pre-match, at half-time and other intervals and after the final whistle.
Do come support your club, but stay safe, people!
