Another retrograde step

I guess as the numbers of Covid-19 cases continued to grow, there was a sense of inevitability that further restrictions would be imposed. In the "thank heavens for small mercies" department, we have news that training for school-aged children can continue (That's minor and below, to you and I). Adult Players: We've been here before. Keep the chin up, and get those individual skills videos published. For those mentoring Minor and below: We know it can be difficult without the focus that games bring, but maybe you can take solace in the fact that everyone sees the importance of exercise and the good it is doing for the players in these tough times. And to those juvenile players: Stick with it, keep coming down, we'll do our best to stay safe and keep it fun. This is your club; your participation is what's keeping your team mates coming down. 💪💪💪🔵⚪️🔵⚪️
And don't forget: keep an eye on our social channels Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, if there's anything to chat about, I'll get it out there.
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Updates to the Covid-19 Restrictions

From midnight tonight, Wednesday 21st October. Ireland enters level 5 of the government's "Plan for living with Covid-19". This imposes new restrictions on gatherings, etc. The GAA have issued their guidelines covering Club and Inter County.  We've updated our dedicated page on the club website, including a link to the GAA announcement. The one good piece of news to come out of this is that for now, training for Minor and below continues. We urge all parents/guardians, mentors and parents to familiarise themselves with the current restrictions.
We've been here before folks, so we know what to expect. For those adult players who cannot train together, please keep me informed of anything you're doing individually that may be of interest to the wider club membership. If you're posting on social media, make sure you tag us, and I'll be sure to repost and share. Last time around we had lots of good drills and challenges, so do keep them coming.

Lotto

Lotto Draw 19th October. Jackpot was €4,900. Numbers drawn were
 1, 11, 12, 14
There was no jackpot winner. Weekly winner was Ronan Fogarty
Next week's jackpot is €5,050. Remember you can purchase Lotto Subscriptions here. 5 grand just in time for Christmas wouldn't do any harm would it?

Official Notice of AGM Issued

Official notice of the club AGM was issued by our Runaí, Anne Harrington. The notice can be downloaded here. Due to restrictions on gatherings, the AGM will be held online.  To facilitate this, if you'd like to attend, please register your interest at this link. Details on how to access the meeting will be issued a day or two before the event.

Seeking expressions of interest for the role of Senior Hurling Manager

Expressions of interest for the position of Senior Hurling Manager are now being sought. Interested parties can e-mail Niall Lanigan, Adult Games Director at adultgamesdirector@stvincentsgaa.ie or they can approach any member of the executive committee. Expressions of interest should be received not later than Friday 23rd October. (That's this Friday, folks!)

Or, any other manager for that matter

Each year, as we get towards the end of the season, we always end up with a number of mentor and manager places to fill; This occurs at juvenile and adult teams, for both boys and girls.  Filling these positions is often left to games directors to ask individuals if they would consider a role. So, how about we turn this around for once?
Maybe you've finished playing in the last couple of years and are missing those days. Or perhaps, you coached at juvenile and hadn't considered taking an adult team? Maybe you haven't thought about it in in many years.  Well, now is your time! If you think you'd like to help out with a team drop me a mail and I'll ensure that the correct games director gets in touch to discuss options.

Survey - Help Cathal Out?

Many of you will know Cathal Watters as a bar-man in the club. In job terms, he's moved on to greener pastures; He's now working with Decathlon and as part of this, is helping them to form their policies on Electric Bikes.  He's looking for people to take part in a survey.  It'll take all of 2 minutes. If you have a chance, can you fill out your thoughts here.

And finally..

With so little games being played, and the week that's in it, I don't think three's much we'd call light hearted this week. So, how about some inspiration instead? I'm sure many of you who have seen this, but it is just so good. Parents: The evenings are dark, and the rain has descended; some of the kids just won't feel like going training. Maybe show them this video from just 3 years back. As I think of the few months ahead of us, the words spoken by Brian, Mickey, Pat and more seem even more important now. Enjoy our Dub Club Chronicles episode.
