Marino? more like San Marino, wha?

With the sun baitin' down all week, I hope you've been keeping hydrated during training and games. Remember to bring your own water bottle - no sharing while covid restrictions are still in place. We've a few announcements this week, so let's crack on.
As always, keep an eye on social channels (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook)
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Senior Roundup

Ouch, as I write this, the twitters tell me that we lost by 2 points in our AFL1 clash with Clontarf.  Final score Clontarf 2-13 , Vins 3-8.
The hurlers came out victorious in their battle with Na Fianna last weekend, winning by 2 on a score of 2-17 to 2-15.
The Senior 1 Camogie team continued their good run of form last weekend, beating Ballyboden on a scoreline of 3-8 to 2-9

In store this weekend we have:
Saturday night sees the Senior Footballers take on St Brigids at home, that's at 6:30pm (Facebook event here)
Senior Camogie play away on Sunday morning at 10:30 am against Faughs/Celtic. (Facebook event here)

Now that crowd sizes are at 200, I feel its time to start promoting games again. If Facebook is your thing, why not mark yourself as going? - it will show friends, and encourage them too.  All socially distanced of course.

Summer skills sessions - What a week for it!

The summer skills sessions are underway, and they've had the ideal weather for it! The above images were sent to me with a message "From the costa del Vincents" !
More sessions will be run next week, and the advanced skills for the older children (U13-U16)  run in the week of the 3/4th August. These sessions tend to be more around advanced skills, with senior players lending a hand in the coaching.
If you're interest you can Book online here.

Note also: Full "Safe Return to Play" procedures ARE in place. Online Covid Questionnaires must be filled in like regular training sessions/matches for specific team.

7 Marathons in 7 days.  In this heat?

A big shout out to our own Stephen Keane.  Along with his friend Shane, they are running 7 marathons in 7 days beginning next Wednesday. They are starting in Clifden in Galway, and finishing on Dollymount Beach (that's Dollyer to us).  Their route will take them across the country:
Day 1: Clifden - Maam Cross
Day 2: Maam Cross - Eyre Square
Day 3: Eyre Square - Castleblakeny
Day 4: Castleblakeny - Athlone
Day 5: Athlone - Tyrrellspass
Day 6: Tyrrellspass - Kilcock
Day 7: Kilcock - Dollymount Beach
Why? I hear you ask (yep. That was my first thought too), well, here's what they say in their own words:

"we’re doing it to raise as much funds and awareness as possible for the Jigsaw Foundation. We want to continuously push the need for mental health awareness and providing people with education on the matter."

Bravo gentlemen.  Now if you want to throw a few quid their way, you can do so on their GoFundMe page.

U20 Leinster Final - Tomorrow evening on TG4

Best of luck to Mark L'Estrange and Josh O'Neil who line out for Dublin tomorrow evening against Offaly in the Leinster U20 Football Final.
The game takes place in Portlaoise and throws in at 7:30 and will be shown live on TG4.
TG4 have also been streaming games live to YouTube.  Hats off to them for their amazing coverage of non-senior inter-county games.

Golf Outing: Ryder Cup Style

Our one-day golf outing is back. Last year this was a great day out.  It's organised as a "Ryder Cup" style - pitting one team agains the other.  It's very simple:
1. Choose if you'd like to represent the adult section or the juvenile section
2. Buy an entry here
3. Tee times will be allocated
4. Turn up and enjoy!

Date: 24th September
Tee Times; 12:00 to 15:00
Location: Donabate Golf Club.

Dublin Minors Bow Out

We had good representation on the Dublin Minors with Callum Walsh, Conor Dolan and Stephen Williams on the squad. Tonight they contested the Leinster Semi Final against Wexford. Today wasn't to be our day, with Wexford winning by 3 (1-15 to 1-12).  Hard luck lads.

Mini Leagues: Time for a break

Parents please note mini leagues is taking a much deserved break and will return on August 28th.

Newsletter details

This newsletter is sent to over 1000 recipients and is a great way to inform members of club happenings. If you want anything included in the newsletter, drop a mail to pro@stvincentsgaa.ie. Comments and feedback are welcome too.

And finally..

We'd like to wish Senior Camogie player Muireann Kelliher well on her modelling debut. That's a bit of a massive hurely there.  One suspects big enough to ensure the sponsor logo has a bit of prominence. Did nobody tell them about the first crowd that tried that stunt?
