A break from our usual notes.

Oh good. You're Here.

Full disclosure: These notes will be just like most weekly club notes, but I needed to grab your attention. There's a couple of things specific to Return to Play that I need parents, guardians and mentors to be aware of, so if you are one of these, I ask you to bear with me and read the section on health questionnaires below.  I know you did it all last year - but there have been changes, these changes are causing some confusion - we've already dealt with a number of enquiries this week; Hopefully we can clarify a bit below.  I'd say I'm in for a world of pain next week.

As always, keep an eye on social channels (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook)
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

The good news is of course that we're getting back to train at least.  And a big shout out to our Tuesday crew who were busy this week getting the place ready for this day, whilst still of course, observing social distancing and covid rules.  Thanks John! Nice work on the nets!

Updated everything with regard to return to play

Short Version: Please have a read of this.

Longer version:
The GAA have updated all their guidelines on Covid-19.  As we did throughout 2020, we'll be working to keep our dedicated page updated with the information. If you want to familiarise yourself with everything, I recommend the very good resources page at the GAA Learning Portal.
The big change is in the return to play portal. This has been updated to a much larger system known as "Foireann", hosted at https://www.foireann.ie. Your return to play profile has been brought over here, and will work using the same credentials as last year.

Foireann's data has been populated from two sources;
Last year's servasport data
Last year's return to play data.

This is where the confusion sets in.  As a result of this, the foireann database has a lot of duplicate records and this will cause you confusion; because the record associated with your account when you log in may not be the version of you (or your child) that is registered.  This WILL be confusing.

For example, for my family in Foireann: There are 2 Dermots, 3 Finns and 3 Jacks. (truse me, there are really only 1 of each of us).  When I log into foireann, the version of me associatied with my account is NOT the one that has been registered.  Nor, for that matter is either of my sons. As a result, it tells me I need to register.

I DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER. Nor do you. Nor do your children. It just means that this duplicate data is mixed up.  The GAA promise us a de-duplication facility will be made avialable "real soon"but until then, it will confuse everyone.

If you see "No membership for the 2021 Season" ignore it. Simply scroll past this.  There is a section below to fill out a health questionnaire, and it still works.

Folks: I get it. I've already taken ages to explain this to you. It's unnecessarily complex. I've even written up a page on the website so I can refer to it when people ask about it.  There's a couple of other questions on foireann answered up on that page. I'd implore you to give it a read.

One final point on this. As a club we have elected not to use Foireann to manage our club membership; we moved to ClubZap last year and it is serving us well, with great support. The only place to renew your memberships is at https://vins.ie/membership

If you are encountering issues with Foireann next week, feel free to drop me a note at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie; I'll respond as soon as I can.

OK back to the usual notes.

Important Safety Notice - PNU1

Remedial work to replace the ball-stop nets on PNU1 have not happened yet, so in the mean time we ask you to remain off PNU1. We have requested an inspection of the remaining 3 poles in case they could suffer a similar fate. We all know the club is closed, and nobody should be on PNU1, but this is a matter of serious safety.

Mini Leagues Will Return May 1

I'm delighed to be able to say that Mini Leagues is scheduled to return on May 1.  Mini leagues runs from 10:30am to 12:00.  Mini leagues is for children aged 5-7, and centres on making it fun for all. If you'd like to enroll your child, simply show up.  This date is of course contingent on any goverment guidelines on Covid-19, so please keep an eye on these notes for any updates.

Lotto

Lotto draw, 19 April 2021.  Jackpot was €1,600.  Numbers drawn were:
24, 3, 16, 4
There was no jackpot winner.  Weekly winner was Risteard O Braonain Snr.  Next week's jackpot wil be €1,750.

It's Membership Renewal Time

I know we've mentioned about subscriptions being due, but with a potential return to play, players and parents are asked to renew their subscriptions. This becomes important because all players must be registered with each relevant body, for which the club has to pay registration fees/contribution to the injury fund and games fees.  You can renew your membership at this link.
Thank you to all who have renewed to date.

Newsletter details

This newsletter is sent to over 1000 recipients and is a great way to inform members of club happenings. If you want anything included in the newsletter, drop a mail to pro@stvincentsgaa.ie. Comments and feedback are welcome too.

And finally..

Once again, I find myself recommending a podcast. This one with a difference. The "Roy Orbison Tattoo" podcast describes itself as a coaching podcast with a twist. They watch a movie, with a sporting theme, and then discuss the coaching in the movie.  This week's edition has our own Ger Brennan as a guest. Enjoy
