| | On balance, a lot to be thankful for last weekend. More wins than losses, and we're certainly entering the end of the championships where it's all-or-nothing. Great representation at the Griffith Avenue mile too. |

| The lights in the club car park will be repaired this weekend. Areas around the lamps will be cordoned off Friday ahead of work on them on Saturday. Parking has been at a premium in recent weekends, and this will further restrict available parking spaces; We apologise for the inconvenience. This doesn't mean you can park in the hatched areas though, mmmkay?. |

| Well done to everyone who took part in the Griffith Avenue Mile at the weekend. Great representation from St Vincents. Amazing to see our All-stars taking part, as well as many of our younger footballers, camógs and hurlers, not to mention our mentors who also put in the hard yards. |

| | Juvenile Section Golf Competition (and evening event!) | |
| | | |
| Good to see this one back. For many years the club ran an annual fund-raising and charity golf outing. The proceeds of this event were split between the juvenile section and the local St Vincent de Paul (Marino/Fairview) branch. This event is now coming back and we be held on November 18th. Here's all you need to know: - The Golf event will be a 15 hole competition in Clontarf Golf Club. Entry for a 4 ball is €280, which includes food served afterwards, and entry to the evening event.
- The golf is followed by an evening's entertainment in the club bar with DJ and a raffle. Entry to the evening event is just €10.
If you cannot make it on the 18th, you can still support by either sponsoring a hole, or making a donation. Full details including purchasing of tickets are available here. |

| | Literary and Arts Festival featuring a bit of Gaelic? Intriguing | |
| South Dublin County council were in touch to inform us all about their Literary and Arts Festival, the Redline Festival. What's that got to do with us? I hear you ask. Well, the festival has, amongst other things a sport and wellbeing strand. One event in particular may be of interest to our members: “A History of the GAA in 100 Objects” which they describe as : “Join Siobhán Doyle as she offers a new perspective on the GAA by presenting a range of objects from museums, pubs and private collections, from Michael Cusack's blackthorn stick to Brian Cody's baseball cap, to create a history of the GAA that also functions as a history of Ireland and its people.” Sounds interesting! Booking for this individual event is at this page. |

| | Last weekend had a very busy schedule, and the one coming has no shortage of Championship action. Commiserations to those who weren't successful, but overall it was considered a weekend of mainly good news. Let's get stuck in, shall we? If I miss anything, please don't hesitate to drop me a line.
Mens Football The Senior lads had a good (2-18 to 1-6) victory of St Pats Donabate in Balgriffin. You can read the match report from Dublin GAA here.Their next challenge will be the SFC2 semi-final against St Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh. This game is scheduled for Saturday 1st October at 3:15pm, in Parnell Park. I'll remind you all next week, but we'll bring along a big crowd to that one! The Intermediate footballers won their play off against Skerries on a scoreline of 3-5 to 0-10. They're now through to the Intermediate All County quarter-final, which is also down for Saturday 1st October (PNU, 5pm). The Junior A footballers were successful in their relegation play off against St Margarets, winning the tie 2-11 to 0-07. The Junior B footballers suffered a defeat at the hands of Naomh Fionbarra (3-14 to 1-08) Adult Hurling This is a hurling weekend, and the big game this weekend has to be the Senior 1 Hurling quarter-final. This game is on 4pm on Sunday (25th) In Parnell Park. As with all Senior 1 ties, this game is ticketed (€15). Tickets are available at this link. |
| | The Intermediate hurlers are at home on Saturday Night (24th, 5pm), when they meet St Judes. This game is a relegation play-off. The Junior A lads are in a relegation play off too - they meet Skerries Harps at home on Sunday (25th, 11:00 am) while the Junior B team are in a quarter-final at 3pm, also at home (PNU2) on Sunday, when they'll welcome Good Counsel/Liffey Gaels. Ladies Football Well. Who'd have thunk it? Last week's notes referred to the Minor A team taking part in the “knock out stages” of the Division 1 Championship. Well; that's what the LGFA site called it. Turns out this was a semi-final! Congratulations to the girls who were victorious against Kilmacud Crokes (2-13 to 1-12), which puts them through to the Division 1 Minor Final this weekend. That's a home draw and takes place this Saturday at 3:00pm. Folks: Let's get out in numbers for this one. Ladies football started in St Vincents just 10 years ago; this team has come up through the age groups, and have reached the highest level possible in Football in these few short years. This final promises to be a challenge, and the support we provide could be the extra player to get them over the line! |
| | | |
| Best of Luck also to the Minor B team. They are in action next Monday (26th) when they play away to Beann Eadair in Howth at 7:30pm in the Division 8 shield semi-final. That's at 10:30 am on Sunday (25th) Adult Camogie Super Camogie Sunday II was quite the success last weekend. 5 home Camogie games, from which we took 4 wins. Commiserations to the Intermediate 1 team who lost their semi final against Whitehall Colmcille. A great run comes to an end.
