Club Notes, 1st  December 2021

Not bad, given the circumstances

At the start of 2021, our first newsletter was to inform our members that all facilities were closed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. And while Covid certainly hasn't gone away, I gotta say that we've had 12 cracking weeks of championship action (and it aint over yet!). In January 2021, we'd have been praying to St Anthony for the prospect of a championship.
Both Mini Leagues, and All Stars will finish up for the Christmas period this weekend, and our friends at Farrell Hurls will be running a pop-up shop at the club on Saturday.  So, despite the dwindling games, still a few things to talk about this week.

As always, keep an eye on social channels (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook)
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Lotto

Lotto Draw 22 November 2021. Jackpot was €4,750.  Numbers drawn were

11, 14, 24, 20

There was no Jackpoint winner.  Weekly winner of €100 was Richie Brady. Next week's jackpot will be €4,900.

Farrell Hurls Pop Up Shop

Local Hurley maker and friend-of-the-club Farrell Hurls will be hosting their pop up shop this Saturday from 10:00 am to 1pm in the club car park.  We all know they are a quality hurley maker - but they regularly support any fundraising efforts of the club where they can - so, we're only delighted to have them this weekend.

Executive committee positions

As previously mentioned, the club is in the process of building a new executive committee. Some members of the executive committee may be willing to stay on under a new Chairperson, whilst other positions will become available.  Our consititution is such that a Chairperson is voted in by the membership, and they would typically bring a committee with them.
Taking part in the executive is rewarding, and gives you a chance to have a say in the running of the club, aid in decision making, and is a great way to serve your community. If you are interested in any of the positions within the club executive, we encourage you to speak to any member of the current team. If you want a first port of call, feel free to drop me a mail.

Most teams done for the year

With the exception of the couple of teams left in competition, most of the teams have now formally wound down for the year. We thank all of our mentors and covid supervisors, who have given so much this year. We hope you all enjoy the break, and come back fresh for next year!

Mini-Leagues finishes this weekend

This Saturday will see the final mini leagues of the year.  Mini leagues is flying with numbers as high as ever, and a great buzz about the place. We thank those parents who have got involved; we hope this is the start of a very fruitful relationship with your club!  Best of luck to all mini-leaguers in your final outing.

So too, the All Stars

This Friday will see the final All Stars for this year.  This has been a truly inspirational initiiative. Well done to all the folks who have turned up and got involved. The All-Stars are having a ball, and feedback I've had with parents has been super-positive. Special mention to Sarah Mongey, Vannessa Golden and Emma Byrne for their work on making this such a success.
Folks: The All Stars are on every Friday from 5pm to 6pm; if you're around this week, why not drop down to give the all stars the round of applause they deserve!

Champo Watch

One loss, one win, and 3 teams still in the hunt! Let's see where we're at now!

Adult Camogie

Well, two teams still in the fray here.  Well done to the U20 Camogie Team. They had a convincing win the U20 Div 2 Semi final against Whitehall Colmcille (7-8 to 1-6) . This means they are now in a final against Good Counsel. No date in the County Board fixtures yet, so I'll have to put it out next week.  I guess that's another club notes, then!
The U18 camogie team contest round 3 of the Div 1 Championship this Sunday, 5th December.  That's on at 10:30 at home, against Ballyboden. I good crowd at this could really lift the girls, who've enjoyed great support so far this campaign.

Adult Men
The U21 Footballers were beaten in their Semi Final against Whitehall Colmcille.  Final score was 1-11 to 0-11. We got of to a slow start, and at one stage were 7 points down.  Then the lads mounted a great comeback, and on the 50th minute, there was just a point in it. Whitehall snagged a goal in the 51st minute, and this ended up being the difference between the two teams. A tough encounter for sure; and this ends our U21 Football campaign.

However it's not all doom and gloom! We still have the U21 A Hurling Final, which takes place at home this Saturday, 4th December at 2:30pm. This is bound to be a tight match; So, let's get down in big numbers to see the final adult mens game of the season!

Juvenile Championships
Great result for the last of the juvenile teams in action this year. Our U16s took the U16 B championship final last week; The game had all to play for, with only one point it in it in half time, but a very strong second half performance saw the lads pull away, and then won in convincing fashion on a final score of 5-15 to 3-8. Well done U16s!

Right folks, here's what's left. One U18 Camogie Team, One U21 Hurling team (both in action this weekend, both at home), and one U20 team presumably to play next weekend. Let's all get out!

And finally..

We all know that the roots of the GAA have spread far and wide.  Did you know there was a Bahrain Cup?  No, neither did I. By all accounts it was a Royal Success.
