Club Notes, 19 May 2021

Is this a summer?

The sun is shining, and despite it being after 9, it's still bright out.  I dropped one of my lads down to training the other night, and it was great to see so many people milling about in pods of 15. Yeah.  It's starting to feel like Summer.
This week saw the club launch a long term athletic plan for juveniles; more on this below.
As always, keep an eye on social channels (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook)
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Long Term Athletic Development Pathway Launched
The club's Long Term Athletic Development (LTAD) Pathway document was officially launched last night at an online meeting. Due to very high demand for attendance, and limitations on Google Meet numbers, we weren't able to open this up beyond juvenile mentors.

The document is the fruits of work carred out by the LTAD group which consisted of:

Emma Byrne – GPO/Strength & Conditioning Coach
Leigh Ryan – Athletic Development/Strength & Conditioning Coach
Stephen Keane – Athletic Development/Strength & Conditioning Coach
Michael O’Driscoll – Athletic Development/Strength & Conditioning Coach
Helen Drumgoole – Juvenile Camogie Director
Denise O’Leary – Juvenile Camogie Director
Niamh Adamson – Juvenile Ladies Football Director
Tony O’Connell – Juvenile Boys Director
Conor Dignam – Chair

The document was officially launched by Niall Moyna, Professor of Clinical Exercise Physiology in the School of Health and Human Performance at DCU.  Many of you will be familiar with Professor Moyna, through his work with various teams in the club.

The document focuses on key exercises to promote proper movement in children, for all stages in their athletic development. To download a copy of the document, visit the dedicated page on the club website. Also, the team are on hand to answer any questions you may have.  If you want to get in touch with them, just drop a mail to ltad@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Folks: this is an amazing resource, and we're very lucky to have professional sport scientists in our club. They've given their time and expertise to produce this document, for which we are both proud and thankful.

Girls: Are you a budding sports writer?

The Dublin LGFA are running a competition for aspiring women sports journalists.  They sent this to us this week:
"Dublin LGFA are looking for written essays from budding sports journalists or Ladies Gaelic football enthusiasts aged 13-18 years of age.
This Sunday, Dublin play Waterford in Parnell Park in the opening round of the LIDL national football league. Sadly owing to continued Covid-19 restrictions the game will be played behind closed doors.
Good news you can catch all the action on live stream via https://page.inplayer.com/lidlnfl/ throw in time is 2pm.

COMPETITION - Dublin LGFA are calling on young journalists to watch Sunday’s game versus Waterford, to imagine they are at the game, follow the play closely, compose an introduction, note the trend of the game, pick out key players and compile a match report (500 words or less).

Parents / guardians can email the match report to info@dublinladiesgaelic.ie please type ‘WRITING COMPETITION MAY 23RD’ in the subject line.

THE PRIZE - An O’Neils Voucher valued at €100 plus the winning match report will be published on our website www.dublinladiesgaelic.ie and a link posted on our social media pages, namely Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Deadline for submission of competition entries is Tuesday May 25th, 5pm. Please include the journalists name, age, club and LGFA registration ID number."

CCC2 Update, Last Friday

You know, I know the Dublin County board have CCC1 and CCC2, but I've struggled to know what it stands for.  Well, here it is from the horses mouth:
"The County Youth Competitions Control Committee Two (CCC 2) is responsible for the arrangement and control of all games in respect of the Age Groups under 13 to under 16 (inclusive)"
More importantly, they gave an update on fixtures last Friday, May 14th.  There's a lot in it, so I'm not going to try to summarise.  Mentors and parents; full details are here.

Summer sessions launched

Our juvenile section will be running summer skills sessions which take place between July 19th and August 4th. Here's what you need to know:
Fun skills sessions for boys and girls aged 6-16. Limited place fun sessions over two weeks at the end of July to early August
  • The sessions are broken into 4 age groups: (U7, U8, U9/10, and U11/12, U13/14, U15/16)
  • There are 4 sessions for each U7-U12 age group held over 2 weeks.
  • There are 2 advanced sessions for the U13-U16 age group held over 2 days.
  • Each session is 90 minutes long
  •  Sessions can be attended individually (€6 per session)
  •  U7-U2 can book 4 sessions for €20
  •  U13-U16 can book 2 sessions for €10.

I know its a while away. It is of course, subject to goverment guidelines. But I also know that enquiries on this have been coming in thick and fast of late.  With that in mind, why not jump over to the booking page and secure you child's place?

Lotto jackpot next week will be €1,150.

St Vincents Ryder Cup: Save the Date

With restrictions beginning to lift we have provisionally booked a golf outing for this year. This will be held on Friday the 24th of September in Donabate golf club. So put the date in your diary. It will be the same format as last year where two teams, one representing the juvenile section and the other representing the adults section.  We will flesh out details closer to the time. Here's hoping we can even get together after the event.

Problems with Foireann? Just drop me a note

Most of our initial teething problems with Foireann seem to be thinning out, but if you are having any trouble - drop me a note.  There are a couple of common issues which I'm able to solve pretty easily, so don't suffer in silence! If something isn't working as you expect, send me an e-mail with a description of the problem, and I'll see if I can help.

Lost...and found.

LOST: One of our players has lost their wedding ring somewhere on PNU1 at the car-park end, near PNU2. Should anyone find it, please drop it in to the club office.
FOUND: A silver dolphin charm bracelet.  If this is yours - contact Michelle in the office to retrieve it. Here it is being modelled on the Bás of an intermediate hurley.

It's Membership Renewal Time

With return to play, and even dates for games, we need to ensure everyone is registered with the GAA, LGFA and Camogie Assocation; In order to do this, we need all memberships in!  You can renew your membership at this link.
Thank you to all who have renewed to date.  We've seen a good uptick in people sorting memberships since we've returned.

Newsletter details

This newsletter is sent to over 1000 recipients and is a great way to inform members of club happenings. If you want anything included in the newsletter, drop a mail to pro@stvincentsgaa.ie. Comments and feedback are welcome too.

And finally..

Ah Janey.  It kills me but credit where it is due. David Clifford's dummy for his Hat-trick is a worth the slo-mo treatment. Enjoy
