Well. 5 in a row, followed immediately by a 3 in a row win for the ladies. Top drawer stuff. Congrats to Diarmuid Connolly and Niamh Hetherton. We're proud of you.
I was chatting to our club secretary about "that pass", to which he mentioned "sure, we're used to seeing him do that week in week out".  Indeed.  Doesn't stop it being a thing of beauty!
Lots to get on with this week: "MEGA CHAMPO SUNDAY" sees no less than 6 championship games being played at home. And we're moving the Cúl Community event by a week. Read on..
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Cúl Community: All-Club Event: 6 October

Given that the Dubs homecoming has now been set for the 29th of September, we've taken a decision to move our All-Club Event to the following Sunday, 6th October. We're aware that many of our members, and paricularly our juvenile members will want to cheer on their heroes at the homecoming (and so they should!) and we're not going to get in the way of this!
So, the fomat is still the same (here's a Facebook event link). A number of people have asked what exactly is going on (they mustn't have read the dedicated page on the club website!), So here it is for you:
  • The day will begin with a sponsored hurling/football/camogie relay through the parish. Put simply, teams will begin at various landmarks around the parishes of Fairview and Marino and each will make their way back to the club. The idea is to have a presence throughout the parish, with all routes leading back to St. Vincents. We'll be in our club colours and be visible everyhere! Here's a big PDF map with all the routes.
  • Back at the club we'll have a BBQ, and there will be games for the younger members in the hall, we'll have a tuck shop and the bar will be open.
  • A little later, but still early evening we'll have live entertainment in the club bar.
The hope is to get all members of the club together to celebrate our club and community, and to raise awareness of the club particularly amongst people who may be new to the area or have moved into some of the new housing developments in the parish. The sponsored aspect will also raise much needed funds.
Speaking of sponsorships: All sponsor cards that bring in more than €50 will be entered into a draw for a Vinnies hoody, and the team that raises the most sponsorship will also win a full set of Jerseys!
How can you help? I'm glad you asked!
Mentors: Spread the word. Ensure you team are raising funds, and bring big participation on the day. If you wish to add images to your whatsapp messages etc, they are available here
Parents: We need marshalls, help and participation on the day!
Players: This is our big club event, it will be great fun and gives you a chance to show your pride in your club.
There's some costs associated with running this day. If your company has a sponsorship or corporate and social responsibility fund, perhaps you could consider a modest sponsorship? Get in touch if you can.

Mega Champo Sunday

Once in a blue moon, the fixture fairy looks down on us and lands a load of championship games at home. It's ideal for supporters, but not so great on Tony and Michelle, who have to deal with pitch allocations. Ahhhnyway.  This Sunday is one such day, that I'm calling "Mega Champo Sunday" (Facebook event here).  This Sunday sees no less than 7 home games, 6 of which are Championship.  The line up is as follows:
  •  9:45 am: Senior 1 Camogie Championship v Skerries Harps on PNU1
  • 10:00 am Junior 2 Camogie Championship v Good Counsel on MIE
  • 10:00 am Junior 1 Camogie Championship v Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh on PNU2
  • 11:00 am Junior B Hurling Championship Semi Final v Craobh Chiarain on PNU1
  • 11:30 am Minor A Football Championship v Thomas Davis on PNU2
  • 11:30 am U15 B Football League v Kilmacud Crokes on MIE
  • 1:00 pm Intermediate Camogie Championship v Naomh Padraig on MIE
The bar will be open from 10:00 am, and the Camogie Section have promised to bring goodies to treat everyone who comes out to support them. So do come along and wear your colours.
But please, park in PNU only!

Still with the Parking

MIE is in exam time. Whilst we're not supposed to park there at any time, parking becomes particularly tight when exams are in session. We ask all members to not enter MIE via car for any reason. If you are on MIE for a game, please park in PNU only.

Hurling Final Prediction Competition Winner

There was a predictor draw for the All-Ireland Hurling Final on Saturday 17th August. Mea culpa folks, I was sent a message asking me to announce the winner and I dropped the ball on it.  Nothing to do with been sent a screen-shot-of-a-photo, which I then had to smudge out the identifying phone numbers from, i promise you.
The winner of the Competition was Patsy Murphy. I don't see her prediction on the weird image either, one can only assume more than one card was filled in.
Congratulations Patsy. €500 and a daugther with a celtic cross ? Not a bad few weeks I'd say!

Upcoming fixtures

There's 39 games down for Saturday and Sunday alone. You've no excuse not to get to somthing, as always the full list of games on our fixtures page.
Adult:
The senior hurlers make a return to Parnell Park on Saturday evening at 4:45pm. They take on Ballyboden St Endas in the Quarter Final of the Dublin Senior "A" Hurling Champo.  (Facebook event here) We're into the knock-out stages now folks, your support makes a big difference.
If you can't make that, find a game on MEGA CHAMPO SUNDAY to come along to.

And finally..

I hear this 7 second video clip is from a U21 hurling game against Crumlin which took place a couple of years ago, but for some reason it's doing the Whatsapp rounds at the moment. James Daniels is the man with the serious puck outs, and the lethal shoulder. Enjoy.
