At this time of the year, the club notes are relatively short. Some teams have just started back, while others will get going in a week or two. I was visiting the club last night and I have to hand it to the footballers who were training away, in the cold evening. Plenty of bobble hats on display, but I can't say I blame them. |

It's regrading time of year | Players please note: There's a short window open at the moment during which regrading can occur. Here's what you need to know: For Adult men, football or hurling. Regrades are open now and will not be accepted after January 31. If you would like to consider a regrade, please drop an e-mail to the club secretary, Anne Harrington at secretary.stvincents.dublin@gaa.ie; Anne can begin the process, and you will then receive email instructions on how to complete it. For Camogie: The window for regrading begins on January 15th, and ends on January 28th. Players who wish to regrade are asked to get in touch directly with the Adult Camogie Director, Clodagh Carroll (clodagh.carroll@stvincentsgaa.ie). For Adult Ladies footballers: Regrading is open now, and will not be accepted after January 31st. Those who wish to regrade should get in touch directly with the Ladies Football Director, Niamh Adamson (niamh.adamson@stvincentsgaa.ie) Remember folks: Everyone is volunteering so please don't leave the request until the last minute, a heavy workload on any of the above individuals could result in deadlines being missed.
Mentors: You have a part to play here too. If you have players who are unlikely to make your squad, and would benefit from playing at a lower level; you might want to encourage them to request a regrade. Remember; a player who regrades down is not prevented from playing at a higher level, but the opposite is not true. A player graded at a higher level cannot play at a lower grade. Plan to use the player or encourage a regrade! | Friday Night: Junior Hurlers, and Entertainment too. | This friday sees the Junior B Championship winning team of 2019 receive their medals (!). Presentation of their medals was derailed by a pandemic, so this week, they are getting together in the club bar on Friday night. A medal presentation will be followed by entertainment by "Claudine". This will be Claudine's first performance in the club - We look forward to it and wish her the best! | | Recovening of the 2023 AGM | A separate notice went around about this earlier last the week. If you missed it, read about it here. Members please note: This is YOUR club. Volunteering on the executive is a way for you to have input into the running of the club. We encourage anyone with an interest in forming part of an executive to get in touch. I can put you in touch with the right people to talk to. Drop me a mail if you're interested. |

The Gaelic for Mothers and Others (GAA4MO) team is a team who play Ladies Football in a social capacity. It is open to any Adult female as long as they are not playing ladies football competitively. They train once per week (Monday, 9pm); and take part in blitzes held in various parts of the county throughout the year. The emphasis here is on giving an opportunity for mothers who want more than to be there to cheer their children on to get involved and play. The GAA4MO team are now actively recruiting and would love to have more players. If you're interested please drop Michelle Whelan an email. You can read about the group, and see some photos at here. |
A great turnout on Tuesday night for the Camogie section. They came together to be presented with plans for the 2024 season, and to get introduced to the various team management line ups and structures. Coming from a year of winning Senior, Intermediate and Junior titles, there's a great momentum and buzz - which was illustrated by the numbers who were there on Tuesday. The mood was only slighly dampened by the realisation that training returns so soon, despite the cold conditions! |
Q1 Training Schedule Published |
The Q1 Training Schedule has been circulated to all mentors, feedback has been taken and the latest version was published today. As you can all imagine, setting up the scheuled is a tricky process of meeting everyone's needs, being as fair as possible and managing a fixed set of pitches in an environment of a growing number of teams. We thank everyone for their input into this process and thanks to Ciaran Barr for managing it. |

Looks like the naming of the hallowed Pairc Ui Chaoimh is causing quite the stir down in Cork. Personally, I don't know what the fuss is about. LIDL have been supporting the ladies football for manys a year now. I mean, nobody in Leinster kicked up a (ahem) stink about the sponsorship for the O'Byrne Cup. And we're all glad that Dublin are having such a good run in it. |
