Great turnout for our first coaching talk.

A brillian turnout for Liam Moggan's talk "Coach the person, not the sport" last Thursday. We were very close to capacity, and there was great participation in the Q&A afterwards.  Many thanks to Liam for such an entertaining and informative talk. If you attended you should have received a request to fill out a feedback form.  If you haven't seen the request, you can provide feedback here.

The second talk will take place on Thursday 25th February, at 8pm. This will be by Gerard O'Connor and called "Say what you mean, mean what you say". Gerard O'Connor is director of coaching for Dublin GAA and also tutors with Sport Ireland, as well as the GAA. Gerard is also the developer of the Dublin GAA coaching handbook "Give Us A Game", which can be purchased here.
This talk will also be held online. Pre-registration is at this link.

We're gonna need a bigger Ref pool

This week we received a joint request from the County Referees Committee (Coiste an Réiteoirí) and the CCC. We'd ask you all to take a read:
As you are aware, in anticipation of the lifting of current Covid restrictions, CCC is preparing for the season ahead. This year (2021) we have received a significant increase in the number of teams entered in our competitions across both codes at Adult and Minor levels with a significant number of clubs entering more teams than any previous year.
With the increase in teams, combined with withdrawals due to Covid fears, age, etc. comes an additional requirement for new referees. We are already operating with insufficient referees and this increase in teams will put even more pressure on CCC being able to appoint referees for all games.
Without an increase in referee numbers CCC will be unable to guarantee referees for all games in the coming season.

After the big hiatus we've had, we'd hate to see games cancelled due to lack of referee, so all clubs have a part to play here. If you're interested in becoming a referee, drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie, and we'll get your name put forward. Note that as soon as public guidelines allow it, Coiste an Réiteoirí will be running a foundation course.

#FitnessFebruary Week 2

A reminder about the great initiative from our GPO, Emma Byrne; It's simple but gets the children back thinking about training:
To take part:

1. Keep a note of any training or exercise you do.
2. Also note when you eat healthy
3. And, make sure you get a good nights sleep!

Parents and Gaurdians:
Each Sunday fill our your child's weekly progress here.

Week two results are in, and thankfully we're seeing some of the lads represented.  I was starting to think this would be dominated by our girls teams only.  Still in the lead mind, I think they'll be hard to shake.

Use your weekly shopping to raise cash for Vins

Main Sponsor of Ladies Gaelic, Lidl are running a campaign where each time you shop with them, you can gain points which can ultimately lead to a cash donation for the club.
The process is pretty straightforward:
1. Download/open the Lidl Plus app and follow the prompts
2. Select Naomh Uinsionn as the club you want to support
3. Spend over €30 in store and scan your Lidl Plus card to earn a stamp (over €60 = 2 stamps, over €90 = 3 stamps, etc.)
4. Collect 6 stamps and submit your completed stamp card by Sunday, April 11th (users can submit multiple completed stamp cards)
Full details over on Lidl's website.
I know where I'll be headed for my new arc welder essential weekly shop.

Club Grounds Remain Closed

We've put out a number of messages to state that the club grounds are closed, and pitches are unavailable for use, be that even for individual traiing. Whilst the vast majority of members have respected this, a number of people have continued to use the pitches. If you're reading this and thinking
'they don't mean me'
'what harm can I be doing on my own?'
'it's just 20 minutes'
'I'm only doing a light run'
'Sure where else can the dogs have a run around?'

Please, think again. Our grounds remain closed and do so for a number of reasons including government and GAA directives. If you flout this request, think of the message you are sending to all those who have remained respectful to the current situation we find ourselves in.

Also please note that this message also refers to the MIE facility; We have had a number of complaints from MIE that their pitches are being used by St Vincents members.
