Your Club Update
June 17, 2020

So begins the journey

Folks, I think for the coming weeks, the notes will concentrate on return to play guidelines. The guidelines are detailed, and all players, mentors, executive and parents/guardians ideally need to understand them and understand their responsibilties. We're in this together. So, apologies if you've been diligent and read them all; bear with me while I try to get everyone to read them!
For now: all club activities remain off. The club is closed until June 29, and opens under strict controls. As before  keep an eye on our social channels Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Covid-19 Safe Return to Play

IWe've a dedicated page on the club website specifically about the "Safe Return To Play" guidelines. I've summarised it in other mails, so for now, I'll just point you at it. It includes short slide decks aimed at different audiences. They'll show right up in your browser. Please take a look. And if there's anything you feel needs elaboration, or clarification feel free to drop me a mail.
Note also that the association held a webinar last Tuesday. This is now available for everyone to view at the GAA Covid-19 Eductation page.

No Cúl Camps this Summer

We regret to inform members that we will not be hosting Cúl Camps this summer.
In recent years, our Cúl camp catered for 250-300 children; with the current circumstances it is not feasible to welcome these numbers, while still maintaining an appropriate level of safety and fun for participants and youth coaches. We understand that parents and children will be disappointed but we believe this decision is in everyone's best interest.
Our juvenile games directors and our GPO are working together to arrange age specific club sessions in the month of August. These will be for smaller groups for shorter periods of time and will be a great fun experience for the children. Work on this is ongoing and I'll make sure to publish details once they are available.

Mentors: National Coaching Survey

A national survey of coaching is being carried out jointly by the GAA, LGFA and Camogie Association. The survey is to help shape the future development of Gaelic games. From HQ: "The aim of the survey is to get to know more about coaches involvement, their role, experiences and how they envisage their coaching future. The form can be accessed through the link below. If you have any queries about the survey, you can email gamesdevelopment@gaa.ie."
This is a good opportunity to have your input - please fill out the survey here. For information on it's importance, you can watch a video from Uachtarán GAA, John Horan. This survey is open for 1 more week - they have had over 10,000 responses. Be sure to have your voice heard.

Continuing to help those in our community

Our volunteer team continue to actively help a number of people on a regular basis at this point. Individual volunteers have been assigned to those who have seeked help to give them a sense of security and familiarity.
If you or a family member is in need of assistance, simply call or text Aoife Drumgoole on 087 947 6626 and she will co-ordinate one of the volunteer team to respond.

For the avoidance of doubt: MIE Pitches are closed

Our specific focus since lockdown has been emphasising that our club grounds are closed and should not be used. With MIE so close, I guess some people could be forgiven for being tempted to use it for casual kickabouts. Please note: MIE is avialable to us through a relationship with the Institute. Like us, they have closed their facilities too. So, please don't use MIE pitches until further notice
Governement guidelines does allow for
"Groups of up to 15, including trainers and coaches, may return to non-contact outdoor training activity (but not matches) while maintaining social distancing at all times.",
When combined with GAA rules, this means if you are doing some training, it should be in public parks and will not be covered under the play injury scheme.
