| This weekend sees the Football league openers for the adult mens' section. I don't know about you, but I feel Christmas is just over. Time flies, etc. Maybe it's the time of year; my own head has been in memberships, registrations and the like, not to mention the minor matter of (still) open positions in the mens' section. Phew! I hear some good news about calls up to minor county teams. so we'll fill you in on that. |

| Productive meeting of mens' section - Thanks |
| Yesterday we held a meeting on the adult men's section and its need for some new volunteers. It was a frank, honest, open discussion, with many things to take away. I don't think we expected to walk away with instant solutions, but there were a few actions to follow up. We're truly grateful for all who showed up and provided an opinion, and input. This doesn't change the fact that as a club we are in dire need of an Adult Games Director, and management groups for a number of teams. So, we'd still ask you to think and reconsider. A club relies on its volunteers. |
| Memberships for 2023 are now due |
| By now, you've probably received an automated mail from ClubZap about the memberships being due. Memberships are essential to the running of the club, and a big chunk of them go immediately to the GAA, LGFA and Camogie Association as registration fees, including player insurance. Fees are also paid in the form of Games Fees to county boards, so it is imperative that we collect them as soon as possible. Special thanks to the many members who were very quick to pay promptly. The membership fee rates for 2023 are online with Club Zap. Payment can be made online at https://vins.ie/membership. Students must upload their current student id to avail of student rates. Please contact Michelle at 01-8335722 or office@stvincentsgaa.ie should you have any queries. If you'd like to download a copy of the chairperson's letter regarding memberships, you can get it here. |

| | There are two social events coming up. I'll have imagery and details next week. But for now, keep the following in mind: Senior Footballers Fundraising Lunch. This happens in March every year. This year it will be on 10th March in Clontarf Castle at 12:30 pm, with Lunch at 1 pm. The format is lunch and an after-lunch speech. This event will be MC'd by Darragh Moloney. Tickets at €1000 for a table of 10. More details in next week's notes. St Patrick's Day in the Club. Another yearly event, which typically begins in the afternoon, with ballads in the evening. Green pints, if you want them too. Always good craic, this one. Again, more details next week. |
| | There's nothing minor about it, am I right? |
| | Well done to Sean Keogh, Leo Sweeney, Ciaran O'Connor and Harry Curley who have been called up to the Dublin minor set-up. Well done also to Eimear Adamson who was also called up to the Dublin Ladies minor set-up too! |
| | I make it 31 fixtures down for this weekend. For the juvenile lads, it's a hurling weekend; best of luck lads, Minor lads are also hurling with the A team heading away to Malay park to meet Ballinteer (Sunday, 19th at 11:00 am), and the B lads at home to Whitehall (MIE, same day also at 11:00 am) Juvenile girls are in Camogie action too, and the Minor Camogs have a unique set up this week: They both take on Clontarf in their respective leagues back to back on Sunday morning, at home. That's a twofor if you're thinking of supporting. The A team play on PNU2 at 10:30 am, while the Minor B take to the pitch at 12:30 pm. The 4 adult football teams open their league campaigns this weekend; we wish the best of luck to - Senior Footballers, who travel away to Broomfield to take on St Sylvesters (10:30 am Sunday morning).
- Intermediate Footballers, who welcome Templeogue Synge Street to PNU1 at 10:30 am on Sunday morning.
- The Junior A team welcome Naomh Barrog to Ard Scoil Ris at 12:15 pm
- The Junior B team who meet Rosmini Gaels at 2:30 pm on PNU2.
That's a full weekend of fixtures folks. Let's get out and show support! |

| | I owe the U15 boys an apology. Last week saw them begin their Féile campaign, and there wasn't even a recognition of it in the club notes. I'll put aside my feelings on recent changes to Féile brought about partly due to Covid and should now be reversed. Féile is special. It's the first taste of competition, and the pomp that used to surround it wasn't everyone's cup of tea. I loved it. I think it gave it a sense of occasion. So, some words for the U15s: This is your chance to shine. This is your time to take all that you've learned since someone first handed you a hurley or football in mini leagues, up to the advice you heard at training just this week. Give it your all. Enjoy it, and leave nothing behind. Play to the best of your abilities, and you'll be proud, win or lose. A great GAA man once said “Stand your ground. Don’t give up. Keep going.”. These are words to play by. |

| Well done to the U15b (above) who got their Féile off to a winning start last week, beating Wanderers on a score line of 3-10 to 2-4. Commiserations to the U15a who were beaten by 4 points to Ballyboden (3-6 to 3-10); It's the first round, still all to play for. The U15s will turn they eye to this weekend, when the Hurling Féile begins. The U15A take on Castelknock at home (Sunday 19th, 11:15 am in Ard Scoil Rís), while the U15B lads travel to Glenaulin Park to take on St Patricks of Palmerstown. Throw in is at 11:30 am. Best of luck lads! |
