Club Notes, 15th  December 2021

Champo season ends on a high.

Jayney.  Me nails were bitten off me.  The final, final, FINAL game of the season was last night. There was me wondering if I'd be writing a "well done", or putting a brave face on a "commiserations" but I needn't have worried. The girls produced a fine display, winning the U20 Division 2 Championship by 3 points.  Thanks girls, we can end on a high note!
So, this week will be super short. Hope you don't mind!

Lotto

Lotto Draw 13 December 2021. Jackpot was €5,040.  Numbers drawn were

23, 17, 7, 15

There was no Jackpoint winner.  Weekly winner of €100 was Frankie Devlin. Next week's jackpot will be €5,200. Look. Jaypers! €100 for every week of the year.  Not bad.

Executive committee positions

As previously mentioned, the club is in the process of building a new executive committee. Some members of the executive committee may be willing to stay on under a new Chairperson, whilst other positions will become available.  Our consititution is such that a Chairperson is voted in by the membership, and they would typically bring a committee with them.
Taking part in the executive is rewarding, and gives you a chance to have a say in the running of the club, aid in decision making, and is a great way to serve your community. If you are interested in any of the positions within the club executive, we encourage you to speak to any member of the current team. If you want a first port of call, feel free to drop me a mail.

Champo Watch

OK, Just the last game to speak of.

Adult Camogie

Congratulations to the U20 Camogie Team who played out a thrilling win against Good Counsel.  we got off to a good start, but Good Counsel got an early goal, but we were stronger for most of the first, half, finishing the half on 1-4 to 1-1.  The third quarter saw a purple patch for Vins, and it was looking good with the gap going to 9 points by the 39th Minute.  To their credit, Good Counsel worked hard, and got themselves back in it. They kept us scoreless from the 42nd minute, but our girls were just as dogged in what was a very physical game. In the end, we ran out 3 point winners. Final score: 2-8 to 2-5

Pictured is Aoife Hayes, who captained the side, receiving the trophy, and a proud JJ and Mary Hayes with their daughter. Also congratulration to Ava Lambe who was awarded Player of the match as chosen by the umpire team.  Well done to the entire team, and a great positive end to the season!

A special shout out to the spectators. There was a great turnout last night!

Folks: Thanks for sticking through all of champo watch. The first round was 1 September, with our final game last night. By my reckoning, that's 13 weeks of top quality games; We thank our players for wearing the blue and white with pride and giving it all they got!

And finally..

What a week for Senior Camogie Player Muireann Kelliher. Not only was it her birthday, but she was also on the management team for the U20 team. Added to that, she was nominated for Dublin Player of the year by We Are Dublin. Nice one Muireann!
