A quiet weekend, but a busy set of club notes |

Well happy Lá Féile Pádraig to you all. It's a bank holiday weekend, and there's Inter-county action on, so our own fixtures page is looking a bit light. But have no fear, because we've something to keep the young ones occupied for the day that's in it. In fact, get your diaries out as I have 3 social events to talk about. Looking at the options there's something for everyone. A fancy frock night, a day out for the family, and a hurling disco extravaganza. We can't wait to see you all outside of our typical sideline settings. |

Important information about registrations | Folks - Please note that in order to be insured and to play, all players must be registered with the GAA, LGFA or Camogie Association via Foireann. Some important points: If you pay your membership fee, you don't need to do anything more - We push all paid-up members through to Foireann to register them. - LGFA's registration runs to 31 March 2024, so if you were registered with the LGFA last year, you're still registered.
- The Camogie Association registration also runs to 31 March 2024; so last year's registration is also still in force.
- The GAA's registration for 2023 ended on 31/12/2023, so any players playing this weekend need to have their membership paid; we'll continue to push any new members through to Foireann over the weekend.
Get yourselves in quick! Mentors: If you have a special request, let me know and I'll try my best to get to them. I recommend sending an email to pro@stvincentsgaa.ie and copying secreatary.stvincents.dublin@gaa.ie Mentors who will need team sheets over the weekend are advised to log on to Foireann and ensure their teams are set up correctly. Please do this sooner rather than later! Players: If you haven't paid your membership, you need to do so ASAP! | |

All those surveys, and now some results |
On quite a regular basis, I send out a request to ask members to take part in student surveys which form part of a thesis; I thank everyone who takes the time to help out. With that in mind, I was delighted to hear from Fergus O'Dwyer, Sociology lecturer at Marino Institute of Education. On March 28th, students who are enrolled in the Trinity International Foundation Programme at MIE will present their findings on their GAA related research projects. Here's what Fergus sent us on: "For your information, student groups from the Trinity International Foundation Programme will give GAA-related research poster presentations for Marino Institute of Education students/staff, and those in the local community from 9:30-11:00 on the 28th of March. The topics covered will be: - Long Term Athletic Development (Considering endurance, speed, flexibility, strength, agility, recovery time and injury prevention, design a new programme with instructions on how best to implement this redesigned routine)
- Concussion management guidelines (Analysis of current guidelines, with key recommendations and best course of action)
- First zero carbon stadium (A plan to detail how Croke Park can become the first zero carbon stadium)
- Long-term financial sustainability (Analysis of the GAA's position in relation to sponsorship and revenue streams, with recommendations of other courses of action for the GAA to look at)
- Inclusion and Diversity- Which programmes and initiatives have shown the most promise, and are there ways these initiatives could be improved? For under-addressed areas that require fresh ideas and initiatives, which specific courses of action can be recommended?
- Engineering- Hill 16 (Detailed blueprint of how best to remake Hill 16 into an all-seated viewing structure, while in keeping with the environmentally-conscious ethos of the association)
We thought we would share this information with the local GAA clubs in the area. You or others in the club are welcome to view the posters and interact regarding the solutions proposed by learner groups." For planning purposes, you're asked that if you're interested in attending, please email Fergus directly by March 26th. |
Family Fun Day for St Patrick's Day |
This was such a success last year, that its on again this year. Bring down the children on St Patrick's Day, where we'll have a club-wide treasure hunt from 2 pm. Here's hoping the weather looks favourably on us! After the treasure hunt, there's a family table quiz in the bar which will have questions for young and old. At 6:00 pm there's a children's disco in the club hall, and we top off the night with a DJ in the bar from 7:30 till late. The coffee shop and bar will be open all day - we look forward to seeing you! Sunday 17th (St Patrick's Day!) from 2pm. |
Time to dust off the good frock - Camogie Awards Gala. |
|
What a run the Camogie section have had - 2023 was a particularly successful year with all 3 Camogie teams (Senior, Intermediate and Junior) winning their respective Dublin Championships. Now that there's time to breathe, they've decided they should mark this. And boy are they going all out! In their own words: "Come celebrate with us on April 13th as we mark our successes since 2019! We will also commemorate our legendary All Ireland team of 1998, who paved a path for the future steeped in pride, commitment, driving ambition and a passion and love for our game! We've had much success since 2019, including 2 Senior Leinster Titles, multiple County titles and 3 from 3 in 2023, where for the first time in Dublin Camogie History 3 club teams at Senior, Inter and Junior all took home their championship titles in the same year. We are now delighted to host our first Camogie Awards Gala in St Vincents to celebrate these successes and we extend an open and warm welcome to all current and past players, mentors, partners, friends, fellow club members and supporters to come along!" Tickets are just €10, to help cover the costs of the event, but rest assured there'll be bubbles on arrival, food and entertainment. It will be on in the main hall, with doors opening at 7pm. Everyone is welcome! Get your tickets at this link. |

Probably a little less formal, but there'll be no shortage of craic on the 28th March, when the Senior 2 Hurlers and Junior Hurlers join forces for a social evening in the club bar. There will be a medal presentation as we mark the 2023 AHL4 and Intermediate Championship wins, followed by an evening of Disco Bingo. Tickets are €10 , with all proceeds going to support the Senior 2 and Junior Hurling campaigns. Get your ticket here. Top tip: That's Holy Thursday, so many of you will be on a day off for Good Friday. Yay. |
I don't think we can class last weekend as a great one. Here's how it went down: Adult Hurling The only winners last weekend where the Junior B hurlers who had a comprehensive win over St Maurs. The Senior hurlers had a 3 point loss at the hands of St Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh (1-13 to 2-10), and both the Intermediate Hurlers and Junior A hurlers came out the wrong side against Naomh Mearnog. Minor Football, on the other hand had a clean sweep - well done to Minor A who a 1-11 to 0-4 win over Mearnog, Minor B who had a big win over St Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh, and Minor C who defeated Binn Eadair 2-7 to 0-4 I've no result for Féile A, and Féile B Hurlers were beaten by St Marks. Well done to the Minor A ladies who defeated St Brigids 0-10 to 0-3 and well done also to Minor B ladies who drew with Raheny (2-9 to 4-3). Only 2 games to report on the Camogie front - The Intermediate team have dropped out of the Leinster League competition, so last weekend they gave a walkover, and hard luck to Minor Camogie who had a 2 point loss to Lucan Sarsfields (2-1 to 1-6) |
Our fixtures page has everything that's on, but by my reckoning there's just 9 games down this weekend; sure lets give them all a mentioned best of luck to: - The U13 Camogie team who kick off the weekend when they welcome Castleknock to PNU2 on Friday night at 7pm
Saturday sees - The U10 Camogie team who play Castleknock on MIE 10:00 am
- The U12 Camogie team who welcome Na Fianna at 12:45 pm. This will be on MIE or PNU2 depending on pitch availability
- U11 Camogie who head the short trip up to Naomh Barróg at 1pm.
- U15A Camogie who travel to Clontarf at 2pm.
- U15B Camgoie who'll meet Erin's Isle on PNU2 at 2pm
- U14 Camogie who travel to Judes at 2 pm
- U14 Boys who welcome Templogue on Ars Scoil Rís Gerry O'Brien pitch at 2:15 pm
The final game of the long weekend will be played by the U16 Camogie team on Bank Holiday Monday (!) when they welcome Judes to MIE at 11:00 am. I'm sure the parents are delighted to have a reason to get out of bed for the bank holiday. |

Our best to a wonderful couple |
I'll probably get into trouble for this one, we all send our best wishes to Senior Camogie corner back extraordinare Deirdre Johnstone and hater of the limelight Senior Footballer Gavin Burke who get married this weekend. We hope the day goes great, and wish you many happy years together. |
All credit to new sponsors. I was sent in this picture of the U15 Féile B Hurlers, looking splendid in their new kit. I'm sure Breedon will be delighted to see their logo looking well. |
