Another chockers weekend

Another big weekend of fixtures, and a weather forecast of mainly fine weather. Crowds now expanded to 200 spectators, so maybe you can get out and support this weekend.  I got to a Junior AFL9 game this week and found the novelty of getting to watch a game a great tonic.
As always, keep an eye on social channels (Instagram, Twitter and Facebook)
if you want something included in the club notes, all you have to do is drop me a mail at pro@stvincentsgaa.ie.

Lotto

Lotto draw 12th July 2021. Jackpot was €2,150.  Numbers drawn were
5, 7, 23, 15
There was no jackpot winner.  Weekly winner of €100 was Dick Brennan.  Next week's jackpot will be €2,300

Senior Roundup

Tough encounter for the senior footballers this week, going down in a 2-17 to 1-11 defeat against Na Fianna. The Camogie outing last week was a walkover as St Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh conceded.

In store this weekend we have:
Friday night sees the Senior Hurlers at home to Na Fianna.  Its on PNU1 at 7:30 pm. (Facebook event here)
Senior Camogie play at home Sunday morning at 11:00 am against Ballyboden. (Facebook event here)

Now that crowd sizes are at 200, I feel its time to start promoting games again. If Facebook is your thing, why not mark yourself as going? - it will show friends, and encourage them too.  All socially distanced of course.

Good luck to the U16 Camogie Team

If I was to single out another game over the weekend that would benefit from a bit of support, I'd pick this one.  The U16 Camogie Team are in a Division 1 Play off semi-final.  This on on MIE on Saturday, at 3pm. Why not drop down and lend your voice. Best of luck girls.

Louise Lynch Memorial Bursary - Year 3

OK. Final call for this one. Are you a Vins girl who is starting college this year? If so, you should put yourself down for this:
The Louise Lynch Bursary is a financial package aimed at helping a club mate get their start as they embark on third level education. The Bursary:
  • Is for €1,000 paid in two instalments of €500.
  • Is awarded to a Camogie or Ladies Football player who is entering Third level education.
  • Is funded completely by friends and former team-mates of Lilo to honour her commitment to St Vincents.
  • Will run for a minimum of three years (began in 2019)

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify to apply you must:
  • Be a playing member of St Vincents, playing either Camogie or Ladies Football.
  • Be entering Third level education for the first time at time of application.
  • Not be in receipt of another third level bursary or scholarship.
  • Note: Members who are entering Third level as a mature student are eligible to apply.

Full details including application form are available on a dedicated page on the club website.  Closing date for entry has been extended to Friday 14th July

Parents: Have you a daughter that plays for Vins and is starting college? If so, go up and rip her smartphone out of her hand and tell her she can have it back once she's filled out the application form.  It's tiny, and takes 2 minutes!

Summer skills sessions - super take up, and still places available

There's been a super take up for our summer skills sessions, which begin next week.  There's still availability. This promises to be great fun for all attendees.  A reminder:

  • The sessions are broken into 4 age groups:
    • U7, U8, U9/10 and U11/12.
  • There are 4 sessions for each group held over the 2 weeks.
  • Each session is 90 minutes in duration.
  • Sessions can be attended individually (€6 per session) or you can book all 4 sessions for €20 bundle.
  • Online Booking only here.
  • Full "Safe Return to Play" procedures will be in place. Online Covid Questionnaires filled in like regular training sessions/matches for specific team.

Hot off the press - good win for Dublin Minor Hurlers

Yours truly deserves a slap on the wrist for not getting a message out to wish our own Conor Dolan and Callum Walsh well.  They lined out for Dublin in the Minor Hurling Leinster Quarter Final this evening in Navan against Meath.
The twitters tell me that Dublin put in an impressive performance to win by 4-18 to 1-06.  Well done lads! Onwards to the semi-final.

Newsletter details

This newsletter is sent to over 1000 recipients and is a great way to inform members of club happenings. If you want anything included in the newsletter, drop a mail to pro@stvincentsgaa.ie. Comments and feedback are welcome too.

And finally..

In a week where we all went a bit soccer crazy, I give you the hurler who fancied himself as a bit of a Harry Kane.  Some peg on him all right.
